It was like eating at McDonald's. – STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS ESTABLISHMENT! IN SUCH A WEAK ECONOMY, CONSIDER PATRONIZING AN ESTABLISHMENT THAT PUTS EFFORT INTO SATISFYING THEIR CLIENTELE!
THEY ADD GRATUITY TO THE BILL REGARDLESS OF HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE SEATED AT A TABLE.
The wait service was flat and unfriendly, perhaps because the waitress knew she really didn't have to work for the tip.
The beef in the "beef sandwich" was like chewing into beef jerky sandwich. The fries? I'm not joking - McDonald's fries (even WHITE CASTLE's) were better!
I became incensed upon discovering that the tip was added to the bill. According to the assistant manager, the tip is added "due to the large number of tourists [they] cater to."
Again, STAY AWAY!!!
Price Gouging Happy Hour and Crummy Food – They advertise half price Cocktails to the tourists at happy hour.
Sign board earlier in the day had $5-7 dollar cocktails.
When the check arrives they charged $12 for a puny weak Margarita. When I questioned the price with the hostess she pretended to not speak English, then the manager came over with a table card (not to be seen on any tables where the customers were) that showed the price at $12. WHAT A SETUP!
DO NOT GO THERE! THEY ARE A RIP OFF!
The food was bland - My Salmon with Sundried tomatoes had about 2oz of Fish with big hunks of rubbery tomato. No kidding 2 inch square piece of bubble gum texture bland tomato, in a dried out sauce. Probably had been sitting under a heat lamp for awhile. SERVICE - they delivered our salads and two minutes later the entrees. My wife's penne pasta with vodka tomato sauce also was dried out with no flavor. We would have been better off with a can of junk from a store. A waste of time and money. TOO BAD THEY PREY ON THE TOURISTS. WE will never eat there again!!
The worst of the worst – We stopped there because it was so big with inside and outside "service". What a big mistake. The hostess was friendly enough but it took a while for our orders to be placed then I received what looked to be, a dirty glass! I ordered fish and chips. The fish, (Cod) has no seasonings, it was floured and fried in oil that was too hot thus some of the fish had runny flour mix(??). The fried were cold. My son had chick which was cooked in hot sauce??. It was a real mess and just a tourist trap. If you want well cooked food don't go there.
BEWARE!!!!! – I am not one to write reviews, but I felt it important to warn others about this s***hole.
THE FOOD IS AWFUL! WAIT SERVICE IS USELESS! THIS IS AN OVER-PRICED TOURIST TRAP! IN A WORD: SAVE YOUR MONEY AND TIME AND DON'T EAT HERE!!
As my husband so aptly put it as he warned someone who was about to enter: "A Filet O'Fish from McDonald's is several steps up the rung."
The calamari was soggy and the mashed potatoes where not "real" - they were flakes; you would think you would get real potatoes for an entree that cost $18.
The most disgusting thing I witnessed: A custodian left the bathrooms after mopping with a string mop and then carried that string mop over his shoulder swaying to the breeze through the restaurant where people were eating. GROSS!
BEWARE: If you do wind up eating here, THEY ADD A 35% TIP TO THE BILL!!! (WHAT?? For a party of 3?)
DO NOT RE-TIP; in fact, feel free to lower it for the crappy food, filthy and disgusting health code violations and non-existent waiter activity.
Worst of The Worst! – I, like many other reviewers here, was fooled into coming here because of the location. The nice outdoor seating in front of the Sea Port was tempting. I always see people eating there when I'm in the area, so I figure the food had to be good too. I couldn't have been more wrong.
I ordered their "special" 18oz steak. My girl ordered the so called "Paella". Our appetizer was some type of shrimp dish. The appetizer which cost $14, had 4 small shrimp. The paella was soggy, cold and the seafood in it tasted like it was clearly frozen for ages, not even close to fresh. The steak they brought me was TINY, after I complained, they brought out a bigger one but it was still nowhere near 18oz and definitely not worth the $24. The service was ok, but we still did not leave their 20% gratuity. For $87, we got the most sub-par food we've ever had at a restaurant. This place clearly stays in business thanks to it's location. Stay away! Go to "Red" instead, it's much better and has a terrace too.
Probably the worst place in Seaport! – Little to say. The food is terrible. Taste like it came just out of a can. Service is lazy. This is the tipical turist trap. Avoid, avoid, avoid at all cost!
Great Live Entertainment on weekends! – Great Terrace By the water . Never had to wait to get a table . Food and service good for the value . I recommend going there on weekend nights for the guitarist from South Beach .
Decent food and service – We were down at the Seaport to see the waterfalls and needed a place to have dinner. We chose Il Porto for the terrace and were seated quickly. I had the steak which was nice and my wife had the paella, which was better than expected. The seafood was fresh and the flavor authentic. We enjoyed the live entertainment and the kids loved the desserts. Overall, we had fun!
Nice Terrace – I had a very nice dinner at Il Porto. The terrace is lovely for people watching and my waiter was charming and professional, and took care of all our needs quickly. The special pasta of the day was very nice and overall my friend and I had a very nice dining experience. It was also nice to have dinner with live music playing. The guitar player was great. We will be back.
Tourist Trap!! A definate Don't go – This was the worst place I've been to in NYC - and I've been to quite a few. Saying the service is bad is an understatement. The waiter finally showed to take our orders and then disappeared. The drinks came and we sat and sat. The waiter finally came over and asked us if we would like anything else - dessert? We asked for our dinner - our mistake. The pasta was cold and undercooked. The eggs were over cooked and the salad - which should have been a main dish for the price was tiny.
Oh and they add the tip on to the bill - which I was able to get backed off. Hope this helps at least one person avoid a bad experience!!
