Loved it - Went there for the first time for our anniversary. The food & the service was outstanding. The portions were huge & we brought home half of it. Everything was just wonderful. They even sang Happy Anniversary to us. It is across Brooklyn from us but we will deffinitely go back again. There choice of beers was very extensive. So glad I found this place.

Delightful – This is the closest German restaurant to me in Brooklyn so I decided to try it out. I went late afternoon one weekday and the service was excellent. I was seated right away and the wait time for my food was about average. I ordered the variety sausage platter which was more than enough food for me. I also recommend the happy hour menu if you arrive early in the evening. I thought the food was great but I have brought actual Germans here before and their opinions about the food were a bit more critical.

WONDERFUL! – We went 12/23/10 with 8 people for a going away party. The food was really really great, the atmosphere fun, pretty, festive. Prices completely reasonable. I'd never been but we are definately going back.

Worst Service that I've Experienced (no pun intended) – I took my two boys to the restaurant as they love German food. When we arrived- with a reservation- no tables were available. After 15 minutes several tables were available, but we continued to wait at the bar to be seated, along with several other groups who arrived after us. Eventually- after 45 minutes- more than half the tables were empty, but still none of us who had been waiting were seated. All during this time the wait staff just stood around talking while the bartender apologized to everyone continuously for the long wait. Two couples- who arrived after us- finally got up and left, and after 1 1/2 hours of waiting, we also left. Literally, as we were walking out - with another couple following us out- the bartender, in tow with a waiter ran up to us and told us we'd be seated immediately. The other couple walking out started cursing them loudly for their gross incompetence and unnecessary wait and my boys simply refused to be seated after such a long wait. One star- good beer; retarded, obnoxious staff. No idea what the food tasted like. I will never go back, and wouldn't recommend to anyone looking to actually eat a meal.

AVOID AVOID AVOID – I WENT THERE FOR DINNER LAST WEDNESDAY NIGHT. THE SERVICE WAS TERRIBLE. WE WAITED OVER AN HOUR FOR 1 ORDER OF POTATO PANCAKES AS AN APPETIZER ( THAT NEVER CAME) . WHEN WE ASKED THE WAITER WHAT WAS TAKING SO LONG ( CONSIDERING THE TABLES ON BOTH SIDES OF US WERE SEATED AFTER US AND WERE EATING THEIR ENTREES) THE WAITERS REPLY WAS AN "OH WELL" GESTURE AND A SMILE. SO "OH WELL" WE LEFT. I WILL TELL EVERYONE WHO WILL LISTEN WHAT AN UNPLEASANT EXPERIENCE THE SCNITZEL HAUS WAS

Avoid on holidays, Horrible service – My reason for writing this review is the deplorable service that I experienced this past Father's day. I made reservations and took my girlfriend and father to Schnitzelhaus for dinner. To make a long and frustrating story short, it took about an hour and a half for the room temperature schnitzel and sausage to come. I understand that it was a holiday but the restaurant was not filled with enough people to warrant such a wait time. Worse than the wait time and food was the disinterested wait staff acting as if there was nothing wrong. It was so bad that I did not leave a tip...and I always tip generously.

I've been to Schnitzelhaus during the week twice prior to this and it was ok. However, I will not go back after my latest experience. If you're into german food and feeling adventurous, I recommend you take a trip out to Staten Island and eat at Killmeyer's -- killmeyers(dot com). They have good beer and an outdoor area, the only prolbem being that Killmeyer's is sort of in the middle of nowhere.

The Schnitzel House is a great place to eat! – Yesterday I had the opportunity to eat dinner at Schnitzel House in Brooklyn and I have to say the food was terrific. Our waitress was courteous and got our drinks quickly and our food didn't take long either. The food was very good and the portions were pretty big. I'm not shy when it comes to eating and I actually had to take food home with me. I ordered the 5 Wurst Platter which came with saukraut and red cabbage and instead of mashed potato I opted for the spaetzle..I've eaten at every german restaurant in the New York City and I can say handsdown that Schnitzel House is on top of my list. In addition to good food and good service which is almost rare nowadays.. The beer selection is top notch as well. This is the type of place that is family friendly as well altho I didn't see any little ones when I was there. If you love german food and are find yourself in the Bayridge area then do yourself a favor and check it out.

Best German Food in Brooklyn – Dora and I (Boots) when to this restaurant around a year ago and had a couple of beers. Then we went back for dinner this month (March) and had a very good time. The server was helpful and quick the food was AMAZING! Nice heavy food and no room for dessert. We had a three beers each and one of the beers was 18 proof! Dora and Boots has two of them. It is also a very family friendly place. By the time we left the band was setting up and we where a little buzzed. Get ready to spend a penny but all is worth it. ADIOS!!

best Haus in New York – Schnitzelhaus is my favorite restaurant in New York, no buts or ifs. I think that Chef Uwe is nothing short of a magician. The quality of food is simply guaranteed. And it's not just several things that are good: literally everything you try is mouthwatering.

Uwe's escargot (Schneckenpfaennchen) is better than in any French place. Smoked trout with horseradish sauce (Raeucherforelle) is simply unbelievable. And every dish has a small twist to it, so that you are left wondering: "How does he do it?"

To answer that question my wife and I keep returning to this place, and almost always we order the same things: pretty quickly we settled on our dream dinner. It usually serves as 1.5-2 dinners though because the portions are quite generous.

So how do I know that everything is delicious? Schnitzel Haus occasionally has a very reasonably priced buffet. It was hard to betray my favorite beef goulash, but I made it a point to sample as much as possible. And I can assure you: you will not regret going to this place.

So the food is superb. How about the drinks during and the dessert after the meal? It would be a waste of time to advertise tap German beer. Well, Schnitzel Haus has plenty of it; there is always some beer promotion going on. My favorite was a liter-mug for $9. Holding that mug, you really wanna cheer and toast.

Have you ever asked for a dessert and were offered a choice: an ice-cream or an ice-cream. Well, forget it. Not here. If after the main course you still miraculously have some space left, you can indulge yourself in more than one way. The magic continues.

If you check the calendar on the restaurant's website, you will be able to hear live music, even live jazz with no cover charge. How's that for a good thing?

Finally, the restaurant participates in several mileage programs such as Skymiles Dining and Rewards, so you can get as much as 10 miles per dollar.
