For those of you who have never met Laurent, allow me introduce him:
Laurent Legendre is a rarity in the San Francisco restaurant industry as he actually knows something about food. (His mother is parisienne but we won't hold that against him).
Unlike most restaurateurs in this town, he actually has a passport.
And he wasn't raised eating big macs and slurping 32oz slushies from the local 7/11 either.
Laurent was born to this business: Food wasn't somehing he had to learn about in an academy. it was something he was raised with. A part of his life. Something he was inclined to. And like most people in this business the profession chose him. Not the other way around.
Those of you who live in the area have a rare opportunity: The chance to witness a true professional at the top of his game practicing his craft...
Something like this is is special. Enjoy it while it lasts...

Excellent French cusine at reasonable prices – While in town for a trade show in San Francisco, I was lucky enough to find out about Le P'Tit Laurent in Glen Park. This place is a hidden gem! My frisse salad with warm bacon and poached egg, was excellent. The greens were fresh and the sherry vinagrette dressing was made rich when the egg yoke was pierced. At $7.95, I would have paid $2 more for this salad (and would've elsewhere) For my entree, I went with the Rabbit Normandy, which was cooked perfectly, came with a rich, wonderful sauce and Peruvian mashed potatoes, a balanced dish that was straighforward and delicious. The flavors were not overcomplicated, as some French chefs are prone to doing. Just under $18 for a dish I would have paid up to $23 for. An excellent winter dish. The Creme Brulee was on par with what one would normally expect and the espresso drinks were more than acceptible. In short, I had a masterfully prepared meal for half the price I would have expected. This meal made me smile. Do not miss this small, cozy, friendly spot!
Laurent Legendre's Glen Park corner bistro brings a slice of Paris to an up-and-coming neighborhood. – The Scene
The corner setting, large windows facing the street, wall of banquette seating, low light and a mirror-backed bar stocked with Lillet make this tiny bistro scream Paris. Guests sipping cocktails and wine at the bar chat freely with each other and the staff in French, while families, couples and small groups laugh and mingle, giving the restaurant a warm, slightly raucous neighborhood vibe. The bottom line: Everyone in the restaurant appears to be embracing a little joie de vie.
A meaty crab and asparagus salad arrives rustically molded into a cube and garnished with pesto and crostini. Entrees range from traditional bistro fare--think tender rib-eye steak served with pommes frites--to lighter dishes with a hint of SF influence, such as a flaky salmon fillet perched atop mashed potatoes and spinach, flanked with mussels and surrounded by a flavorful broth-like sauce. Desserts reflect a classic French sensibility and include ice-cream-filled profiteroles, crème brûlée and tarte Tatin.
REVIEW OF 5/14/2008 – I had been looking forward to eating there a group of friends decided to celebrate a birthday there. What a disappointment. The food can best be described as adequate. The portions were actually substantial but the Lamb Chop one of us ordered was dry and tough. The service left much to be desired. Our waitress began by telling us at 6:40 that we had to be finished by 8:00 because they would need it for their second seating. Then she disappeared for at least 20 minutes before returning to take our order. She took our food order before I ordered wine. She never asked if we wanted wine prior to disappearing and prior to taking our food order. When I asked a second waitress for a second plastic bag so two folks could take home left overs, the bag came replete with a large dose of attitude and extreme rudeness. So much so that it was obvious to the couple at the adjoining table. The lone exception was the busboy who kept us serviced with bread and water. He deserves a raise. None of us will ever go back. There are too many other better restaurants to patronize. I would reccommend you do just that.
Better get on the list now! – This hidden gem in a nook in Glen Park is just what we needed in the neighborhood. The ambiance in warm and inviting and the food although not obscure and exotic is basic classic French cuisine. In addition to the buttery yummy escargots, moist beef carpaccio, tantalizing cheese platter and the simple but well prepared sea food-for the chocoholics, the Chocolate Mousse is all that needs to be mentioned ? You gotta try it. They have a great affordable wine list with wines from all over the world. Ask Laurent, the owner for suggestions not on the wine list. Both Laurent and the extremely funny and amiable waitresses make this the place for a special occasion or a night for drinks and appetizers at the bar.
