Excellent – Authentic Mexican food in Mockingbird Station. Everyone must try this place.
Staff seems a bit shy, but overall very attentive and good service for the dollar.
Amazing Tacos – I had to run to MS for a small shopping trip and parked in front of Urban Taco. Initially I didn't want Mexican, but they were right in front of me! I ordered the Red Snapper fish taco ( I will try fish tacos ALMOST anywhere) and the Potato, Zucchini, Pablano Taco.
I was not disappointed at all. It was awesome.
The atmosphere was great and everyone was friendly. For lunch, I got my order pretty quick too!
The place was clean, warm & inviting.
I will def go there again!

Cool cocktails, tasty tacos – This place is great! The service can be a little slow at times, but if you can nab one of the 4 or 5 seats at the bar, you're golden. I am a huge fan of their mango mojitos. Not too sweet, and they taste TOTALLY authentic and fresh...and just a bit different. The tacos are also the best bet - go for the corn side. Delish!
Solid food. Big Taste. – Although the portions are not huge, the taste here IS.
Plenty of salsas to choose from. Some unique flavors in here as well.
The Yuca fries are of some controversy. I personally love yuca fries, and these are skinny and chewy, though they are fairly tasty when cooked right, which these are not. I still risk trying them.
The rice is great, and the pork in this place is is good. Fair prices, sometimes you can get skimped on the portion, but a nice breath of fresh air amongst the Mexican fair in Dallas.
NEW SPOT! – I consider Urban Taco to be one of my new favorite spots and really enjoy the food, atmosphere and feel of this place.
They did a great job with the whole modern/authentic motive and cuisine.
I enjoy their tortas & yuccas fries and my favorite salsa is the avocado lime crema.
I also like that they have micheladas! Good micheladas are always hard to find!
Bait and Switch – The tacos are unimpressive and small. The service is pretty unorganized and slow for a small place. It took almost 15 minutes just to get the chips and salsa trio to our table. The salsas aren't that great. I tried all the salsas and the only decent one was the tomatillo verde salsa. The only saving grace entree is the torta with rice, BUT, it comes with the nastiest yucca fries. They are really hard to chew and unappetizing. Just thinking about them makes my stomach uneasy. Even the waitress agreed they are unpopular and has lobbied to change them to potato fries. (Management, listen to your employee!!!)
The reason for the low rating is not only because the food isn't that great, but they push promos that they can't deliver on. They have a $20 "Dinner and a Movie" deal which is a great idea, but when I asked for it, they conveniently didn't have any in stock. (I only drove 30 miles only to be told they were out.) The waitress told me to come back in 3 days and they'd "have more". The theater is 100 yards away. Why should it take 3 days?! If they are out of a promo, they should at least let the public be aware of it. It's convenient for them to advertise the hell out of the deal, but once you're there, they don't have it. In my opinion, considering the price of their food, I wouldn't come here without the deal.
I don't recommend this place because of their false advertising, poor service and they have about 1 item edible on the menu.
Save your money and head to Taco Bueno.
Heavenly Fresh – I have been going to Urban Taco since it opened. One of the things that keep me coming back to this place is the freshness of their food. What makes this place different from other taco places? well it really is Mexico city style with an urban twist like the name suggest. The tortillas taste like nothing I've had in the Dallas area, and the meats are so juicy and tasty, I usually get the al pastor tacos, which come with a hint of pineapple, just perfect! Food presentation is also great and the portions are just right. The atmosphere is hip with plenty of seating space. The location is great too, you can go watch a movie at the Angelika or go shopping.
My new favorite place... – i've been in this restaurant 5 times in one month, i love this little place, the food is amazing, i really feel that is so fresh and healthy, nothing is greasy or heavy, my favorite plate is the tropical salad, home made chips and sauces, i'm defenitly going back next week for another salad and a torta this time.
Great experience – I was abel to go visit this place for the first time about 1 month ago and ever since I have become a regular and love the place.
The menu is so much different than any other "mexican" restaurant in Dallas, its so Mexico!
On my last visit I had a Frozen Mango Margarita w/ Sangria and the three taco plate with: chicken mole, barbacoa and the red snapper taco and as my sides I had the roasted corn with cream and the mango jicama slaw! I usually also get their roasted peanut and habanero salsa on the side as well!
Love it and recommend it to anyone who is willing to try something new in this texmex saturated market!
