INCREDIBLE! The Sushi is the best around! Not only did I order my “regular” but after the 2nd visit the men at the Sushi Bar said… you should try something new… asked what I liked… and EVERYTHING I have tried has been EXCELLENT! Worth the drive… Great price for the quality of food. Server remembered us the 2nd time we walked in to sit at a table! The next week she even said; Diet Coke, California Roll, extra eel sauce and what is new this week for you to try? She not only remembered us but our conversation about wanting to try something new! OUTSTANDING! PS… let them know if you are celebrating an anniversary and/or birthday!

Triangle's Top Japanese Restaurant – This is without a doubt the best Japanese restaurant in the Triangle. Not only is the food prepared fresh, but the presentation is awesome!

The staff could not have been more helpful and very prompt!

Sushi Chef is RUDE! – The food is okay but the rotten attitude of the fat sushi chef is ridiculous. He was so rude to my son and me that I will never go back. I am not surprised about the lady having difficulties using a gift certificate because they act like they are doing you a favor by letting you eat there.

Best sushi I've ever had! – Okay, for you people who don't like mayo: don't order rolls with mayo! Duh. I don't eat mayo, and I have never encountered it at Hayashi because I read the descriptions of the rolls! The Dragon Roll is my favorite by far. LOVE the quality of the sashimi, and the slices are very thick...not like the 2cm slices you get elsewhere. The Bento box is the best deal I've ever heard of...you get basically one of everything (tempura, sushi, sashimi, unagi/teriyaki, spicy shrimp, and an orange) for about $20. You can't possibly get that full elsewhere.

The owners are great. The servers are great. Sure, it's a little slow when it's busy, but that's life. I wouldn't ever go get sushi in a rush anyway...want to slow down and savor it!

Only con is that the lunch bento, which is about the right size for me, isn't available for dinner. Guess I'll have to eat there twice in a day!

Best Sushi in Raleigh area – You are made to feel welcome from the time you come in to the time you get ready to leave. You are never rushed and the wait staff is very attentive. We have eaten at just about every sushi restaurant in Raleigh, and we now only go to Hayashi, even though it's a 45 mintue drive to get there. The menu is extensive and everything always tastes good. The chefs are more than accomodating if you have any special requests. We have taken several of our friends here from all over the area, and they all frequent Hayashi now - even those that live in Clayton. Great atmosphere!

Okay Sushi – there's way too much mayonnaise on every roll..screaming O roll starts to taste like the piano roll, then soon your palate can't distinguish the difference at all b/c everything taste like spicy mayonnaise.

I would go back for the fresh raw fish, such as my favorite, the blue tuna..it was the best. Other than that, take it easy on ordering too many rolls, they start to taste the same.

Don`t buy Gift Certificates for this restaurant – My son bought us a gift certificate for this restaurant. as a Christmas present. He did the same thing last year and we enjoyed it so much that he did this again this year. My husband had an operation in December and ran into complications that left him ill for at least 3 months, and I wanted to wait until he felt better to use this treat. When we went to pay, the waitress said that the gift certificate had expired. I had never heard of a gift certificate having an expiration date, and was unaware of one on this one. We asked for the manager and he was very arrogant and gave us a hard time. My son paid full price for this gift, no coupon or discount was used. After about 20 minutes they reluctantly let us use it. I will never visit this place again and warn people about the attitude of the management. There are plenty of new, excellent Japanese restaurants in the area.

Best Suxhi In Raleigh – My wife an I eat Sushi about once every two weeks. We have tried many many places in Raleigh and we have tried a number of the claimed hot spots. We usually give a place a couple chances. We have now eaten at Hyashi about 5 or 6 times and every time has been great. We have settled in now and this is our place. If you like Mura or Sushi Blues, but don't like the prices, try Hayashi. It is way better than Tokyo House (Ok), Mizu Sushi (not good), Waraji (ok) , or Shaba Shabu (terrible) and it is reasonibly priced and a decen atmosphere.
