Disappointment in the service and the foodat the Dialy Grill – My husband & I celebrated our 23rd wedding anniversary at the Hyatt. The Daily Grill was recommended to us by the Hyatt as a terrific place to get breakfast. Upon arrival we were excited. The ambienc was terrific. The reception informed us the wait would be 25 minutes and we said we would wait. We were given an alert button which would notify us when our table was ready. The young man at reception did not ask our name, ask if we would like a table in the bar as an alernative, or if we would like something to drink. We returned to the reception and asked if we could get a Bloody Mary, and he said, yes and opointed us to the bar. When we got to the bar, we noticed there were several people eating at tables and booths in the bar, and there were a few tables open. I returned to the reception and asked if we could eat in the bar.
We sat ourselves and waited at least 10 minutes for the waitress to greet us and ask if we wouldl ike a drink or a menu. We each ordered a bloody mary and were given a menu. We received our drinks about 10 minutes later, and at the same time, gave the waitress our order. The Bloody Mary tasted of worcestershire sauce. We flagged the waitress who said she would be with us in a minute. She never did return to our table. My husband walked up to the bar and asked the bartender if he could add tomato juice which he did.
When our breakfast arrived, we had to ask the young man who brought the food for napkins and silverware! My husband recevied the wrong menu item, and the eggs on my Eggs Benedict were hard boiled. The young man said he would return with the correct menu item. The waitress brought silverware and apologized for the mistake. She offered to have my eggs redone, but I declined, tired of waiting.
By this time we were pretty disappointed, mostly with the service.
Upoon arrival we had made reservations for Easter Sunday for 7, but canceled it on our way out the door!
One of the most rash decisions I've made about eating. – To start I'm from New York. Diners there are great places to get a Cheeseburger but I can honestly say I haven't seen a single place that has a good 8-10oz burger. Just garbage fast food.
So when I went to PAX and it came time to get something to eat I was pretty stumped. There were so many overpriced unappealing places to eat. I just walked down the street, saw this place and figured... eh what the hell.
So I asked how long the wait would be and they were understandably busy so I waited about 20 minutes. The staff was very nice and I ended up sitting in the lounge area which was fine with me. I ordered a cheeseburger and didn't wait very long for it. I won't say anything against any other reviewers but the burger was incredible. Extremely good by any standard and very reasonably priced.
I actually just barely missed the panel I was in such a rush to see but to be honest this was the highlight of my day. I loved the classy atmosphere and my food was fantastic. Service was good and it was a thoroughly enjoyable experience. Certainly an oasis in a desert of overpriced garbage.
Best desserts in town! – I LOVE the Daily Grill, especially the desserts. I can never decide between the daily cobbler and the Fudge Brownie Pie with Caramel and Pecans. The hummus plate is great to share and the servings of all mains are HUGE. I have a great time everytime I go, the decor and service are upscale without being fussy.
Beautiful Decor, Attentive Waitstaff, Terrible Food – A friend and I just ate at The Daily Grill tonight. The waitstaff was courteous and our particular waiter was very attentive to our needs. But the food sucked. Everything we ordered was terrible.
**Chargrilled Artichoke with Aioli Sauce (Appetizer)** It resembled a piece of cinder more than it resembled an artichoke. The aioli sauce was pretty god but the artichokes (2) weren't. I've had better at the Cheesecake Factory across the street.
**Lobster Bisque (Soup of the Day)**. Well, it definitely had bisque. I've filed a missing persons report for the lobster.
**Grilled Herb Chicken Breasts with Spinach, Spring Vegetables and Apple Relish**. The chicken breasts were okay, nothing I couldn't have done myself. They got a lot better after I put a bunch of salt and pepper on them. I am pretty sure the spinach wasn't fresh as it had absolutely no flavor and looked like something that should've been clogging a drain, not on my plate. The spring vegetables were a disappointment as well. it was two mushrooms, two pieces of zucchini, two pieces of red bell pepper and a chunk of onion. Yummy.
**Angel Hair Pasta Pomodoro**. This says it has fresh tomatoes in it. I've had fresh tomatoes, I've also had canned tomatoes. It looked and tasted like canned tomatoes. Again, the taste of this dish was nothing I couldn't replicate at home.
As an aside, I am not a food snob. I am not picky about my food. I just like it to taste good and this really didn't. We paid $70 (including tip) for what you see above and we are never going back. I suggest that you never go there at all.
Started off good-- now we won't be back – We ate here when it first opened in Seattle as we could not get in anywhere else. We were happy to be able to get in and impressed with their menu. I got on our first trip there a special lobster dinner which was fantastic and so resonable. Our service that time was great but there were few people dining that night. We returned this past weekend for dinner and breakfast the next day as we were staying at the Sherton for a Seattle get-a-way. The service was beyond bad! When we fianally got seated we sat for 10 minutes -- and 15 minutes at breakfast with out so much as being offered a beverage. Both at dinner and breakfast we had to ask again and again just for water. No creamer was ever brought for the coffee. The value is pretty good for the money- although the food is not extraordinary. We were suprized how reasonably priced the dinner menu was. The worst of it all is our wait person started cleaning a dirty table and then with dirty plates in hand refilled our beverages. That's just gross. I would have been more upset however we were more shocked that a member of the staff actually came by our table! We were so irritated from dinner we would have not been back for breakfast except room service was 3 times the price and we were hoping the night before was just a bad night. I think not. We won't be back -- there are far too many great places to eat within a block.
Traditional American mini-chain serves comfort food in a retro atmosphere. – In Short
Oversized mahogany booths and vintage photographs add up to a '40s chic experience. Straightforward starters include popcorn shrimp, quesadillas and a host of salad choices. Entrees are more stick-to-your-ribs fare, like the signature flaky chicken pot pie and a mushroom-topped meat loaf with mashed potatoes and broccoli on the side. Down-home desserts include strawberry shortcake and apple pie.
Never Return – Restaurant look good with above average service but the filets we ordered where dry and tastless.
I would not recommend this restaurant at least not for steak.
I'll think twice before going back. – After a brief visit for drinks and appetizers on November 17 prior to seeing Kathy Griffin, my partner and I thought it would be great to have Christmas dinner there. The restaurant takes reservations, which is a good thing.
Imagine our disappointment when we arrived a few minutes prior to our reservation time of 6:45 only to be coldly told that our table would be ready AT the designated time, not before. Fine, no big deal. When we were seated, we then sat there 5 or 10 minutes before anyone asked us if we wanted a drink. The gentleman who did so, never took the opportunity to identify himself. It wasn?t until well after he brought our drinks we figured out he was our serving professional for the evening. Finally we had to ask him for menus, which to our disappointment were partial a la carte menus. After digging more information out of him, we found out what was ?up? with the buffet that was set up in a small banquet space to the side. The buffet was out of a few items that weren?t replenished at any time we were dining. To add insult to injury, the buffet contained dessert. The brownies were great, but the pumpkin pie was FROZEN quality pie. I could have gotten the same thing at Costco! Add to that the cold sourdough waiting on the table when we got back to it, the fact the table was in the direct line of sight of the hotel entrance with no privacy screen of any kind and the $37.95 per person price tag for the experience leaves me never wanting to set foot in the place again. It kind of galled me that?s how we were treated on a holiday. It would have taken no effort to let us know ahead of time they wouldn?t be offering the full menu and allowing us to make a decision to eat there or go someplace else.
Finally, a proper steakhouse in the Convention district!!!! – I didn't expect too much; A corporate Restuarant Downtown in the Convention District. I figured it would be better then Ruth's Chris. Really, everything is better then Ruth's Chris, but I digress. I had walked past, been tempted to dine, but didn't want yet another flimsy feast served by some very jaded server who would rather be sipping in a bar then tending to my table... this is a sentiment that many of us express now towards the downtown district.
As Fate has it... I was on a date with my boss. We were about to pass an old 'friend' of his but ducked into the Daily Grill for cover.
Fear blossomed into amazement. The first sighting was a lovely lounge warmed by fireplace but overseen by one of those brilliant showcase glass enclosed temp controlled Winerooms. The hosts were very sweet to seat us immediate. A Thin French Man, I assume the wine manager, but I could just be stereotyping the French, welcomed us once again and we walked into an outstanding mahogany lair... only offset by the distant vision of a busy kitchen framed in the distant.
Our server was very helpful, he actually knew the wine list, explained that he was from Chicago and that both Crabcake and Ribeye were classics. We thought he was classic... I Digress Again. We took his recommendations as well as a lovely bottle of Stag's Leap Petit Syrah.
I must make this clear and very certain, Daily Grill, I am so sorry for prejudging you. That was one of the best steaks I had had since living in Manhattan. The Crabcakes were astonishing, The wine and the server's banter were savory... even the cute french man....
Importing the help from around the globe is a great idea. It promotes better service. We had fantastic everything. Everyone we met here was beautiful and kind... Totally worth the twenty percent tip. I was back again the other evening. Everything... you have replaced THE MET as my Favorite Steakhouse in Seattle.

Crab cakes are exquisite!! – Advertised as 98% crab meat and they are. They're pan-fried, not deep-fat fried and not a bread crumb in sight. I'm not kidding. I'm from Maryland where blue crab is a staple.
Chicken Marsala was about average. The crab cakes, though, were exquisite.
