Good food, okay service, wierd atmosphere – First of all, restaurant 101, don't leave the host stand unattended. Nothing more annoying than making a reservation, arriving on time for your reservation and standing around in a half-empty restaurant waiting for a host or someone to greet you. The dining room can't seem to figure out what it wants to be. Typical american decor with southwest accents thrown in here and there. Very odd. Service was mediocre throughout. Took a while for the server to get to the table. Drinks were brought promptly, though she didn't ask if we wanted another round until dinner was more than half way over. The food runner/server assistant was nice, but needs to stop saying "no problem." It's not Friendly's. Dinner was great. Tacos were good, and they 5 taco special was more than enough.
And here's a little server 101: when one person at the table answers "yes" to the question, "would you like to see a desert menu?" don't just bring one menu to that person. Not only is it awkward, it lowers your chances of additional sales by not having the menu in front of people who may have been swayed by seeing the choices.
Finally, while we understood the music being loud when we got there at 8 and the bar was empty, why would they pump the classic rock at 10pm when the bar was empty and the dinning room was half empty?
Overall, good food, blah service, fair pricing, crappy atmosphere.
Very rude management........ – Overpriced food, taste is ok, atmosphere is fine, waiters are fine but if you ever have to talk to management, you'll find with very rude people and it will be worthless to talk to them.
Great food, Great Service, BAD Patrons! – I went into Mission Grill for lunch. I frequent this place for the burgers with the fried cheese and the awesome guacamole! When I was there this time though, there were customers who were so rude it actually ruined my meal. I go out to eat very frequently and take pleasure in the entire experience and I have never been so irritated by fellow customers. Three ladies sitting right next to us had something bad to say about EVERYTHING! We had the same waitress and the same food, but they were simply obnoxious and loud. I would definitely go back there again, but steer clear of some of the patrons!
Weak chicken – Nice atmosphere, great service, but please....... The 12 spice chicken leg, was the smallest little bone-in chicken leg I have ever seen for $16. Quality low. Taste good.
great spot – I've dined at the bar here several times, and the food is great. To compare it to Fridays is a farce at best. However you shouldn?t take advice from someone who frequents chains like Fridays to have sit-down dinner. No offense but demanding mayo, ordering a burger, and pork totra is not doing this place justice. I?ve never had the ribs here. I?ll save them for well known barbeque joints. Like I said I've been there several times, and have no gripe with the place at all. The bar is very nice, and the cocktails are excellent. I'm a harsh critic on drinks. They pass with flying colors. There are some places in this city that try to serve Spanish or Mexican food, and screw it up admirably. The Mission kitchen does a great job. My girlfriend does not like Mexican/Spanish cuisine and she loved the place. They start you off with warm cornbread with herbed butter that is awesome. For those less adventurous try the Salmon entree. Some of my favorites are; taquitos, blue crab salad, strawberry margherita, and the pork chop. I definitely recommend trying this place.
Love the Guacamole – I went to The Mission Grill tonight and it was delightful. We started with Guacamole that is better than any other in the city. The Margaritas were great. For apps we had there spin on a flauta. This was another rocking dish. Our Entrees were very good. Had a spin on the filet oscar and i wish i would have gotten the tuna instead. the dish was good, but the tuna was much better. Think the service was not bad but needed to be better educated on the food. Skipped dessert.
Great place and will be back
Mission the point... – To get an idea of what's being served at Mission Grill, think of TGIFriday's or Chili's. It's not bad, but it's not all that great either... On a recent visit we tried Monterey ribs that would taste right at home at Friday's. They were decent but that's about it. The pork torta was too heavily seasoned, so all you could taste was pepper (not the pork) and the focaccia roll bun, and was not served as ordered, as we asked for the mayo-heavy aioli on the side. The burger was equally uninspiring and was cooked well beyond how we requested. The service was fair, but with prices that far exceed chains with similar food, we're not rushing back.
