A sunny, airy, spacious coffeehouse/ lunch spot/ breakfast stop/ gelato station/ OMG I need a drink, no problem we have a full bar too destination! Prices great, Internet fast, seating comfy! Winner!
At first glance, this corner cafe looks like just another coffeehouse, but it's SO much more. They start serving a robust breakfast at 7am, then move into a lunch menu that stars some standard but very tasty pastas from local Justa Pasta. There's a full bar and gelato too. On weekends, if you aren't looking for something fancy, you can't beat the no line brunch and $6 Bloody Mary!
Quite Wonderful! – Order the Breakfast Scramble -- Huge chunks of mozarella cheese, 3 eggs cooked to perfection, fresh basil, golden brown toast, seasoned potatoes were the best I ever tasted! Average price, very good service!
Great gelato! – I love it there! Very nice, mod atmosphere. The staff is not very friendly, but is nice when you just want you coffee and no chit chat. Gelato is fanaminal and pretty inexpensive!
Good quality breakfast! AWESOME potatoes.
The best breakfast ever – They make an amazing bacon and sunny-side up egg breakfast sandwich for me. It's the best. Great service, great prices and great food. What more can you ask for!
Amazing pancakes! – Excellent service with the nicest people. I'm really picky about pancakes, and they ones they made for me were the best by far.
Good food - good coffee - modern interior - clean & comfortable - kid friendly – A great SE neighborhood spot - this is the original owner of the old Henry's on Clinton and the food is just as good or better. You have to check out the menu and the board, but the pastas and the grilled panini are our favorites - they have a great breakfast grilled sandwich also. The coffee is from Cafe Umbria - the Italian family that originally started Torrefazione Italia years ago. Brunches are terrific and the place is very kid- friendly. And the owner personally makes all the gelato in the kitchen, most of them including fresh ingredients, like fruit, etc.
Prices seem average to us - some of the breakfasts are cheaper than comparable ones elsewhere.
They just added some home-made pizzas and the word is they will serve wine, beer and a few mixed drinks starting in the New Year, so it will make a great family dinner spot.
We've been going there since it opened and the barrista's that earlier reviews complained about are no longer there - the current staff is as friendly as any in town. And we enjoy the clean, more contemporary interiors.
Finally - there are two large tables that seat about a dozen people - great for the family breakfasts over the holidays or even business meetings if you have papers to spread out.
Great Cafe – What a great cafe, very nice place. Brought the whole family for breakfast on the weekend, it was awesome. The owner is the same lady that had Henry's cafe on Clinton St., she is a great cook. We came back after lunch for some gelato, also delicious. I also found out that they will be having more food options in the evening, I can't wait.
Good food, horrible service/staff – Although the food, coffee and gelato are good the horrible service and rude staff make visiting this cafe not really worth it. They also should consider covering the days old pastries on the counter as fly covered food is not really enticing, nor sanitary.
Good Coffee, Bad Customer Service – I really love the coffee at this place, but every time I go in I ask for the same thing and get something different and the customer service can be awful. Friday morning there is always this guy that is so rude I don't even want to go in there anymore. He ignores me when I get to the register, give me attitude when I tell him what I want and when I say thanks he never says thanks back, have a good day or any sort of salutation. Others have been friendly, but avoid this guy if you want to start the day off right.
Great Breakfast – Great Umbria coffee, friendly employees, had brioche french toast with real maple syrup, and special egg scramble, everything was great. They also serve some baked goods (cookies, croissants) and sandwiches. Will definitely go back. Next time we will try blueberry pancakes and waffle.
Gelato -- yummmmmmm! – If you're looking for deliciously fresh gelato in a variety of unique flavors, then come to Caffe Pallino. While you are enjoying your gelato and expertly made espresso, you can indulge in the free wi-fi and music!
