Only three types of tacos on the menu but they deliver. They even cater to vegetarians with potato tacos. Simple but right on point.
Perfect, simple delicious. Shrimp, fish and potato tacos, plus a few drinks. Salsa bar rules and so does the service.
Cheap, three items on the menu (fish, shrimp and potato tacos), and they tastes like homemade tacos. Love all the choices of salsas, beware the "hot" salsas truly are HOT! Make sure you get an agua de jamaica to cool the mouth.
This small shack has the best fish tacos in town. The fish has a nice coat to it and is not dry on the inside. Very flaky. Their sauce enhances the flavor of the fish taco!
The price for a fish taco ($1.50) seems like a joke in and of itself, but the real comedy begins after dark on Tuesday's when Loud Village gathers the city's best fledgling funny men for a totally free and BYOB laugh fest.
Simple menu with only fish and shrimp tacos and drinks, made to order. Also, they have several salsa variations to choose from.
Best Fish/Shrimp Tacos in Los Angeles! – I came across some of the best tacos I’ve ever had in Los Angeles, so I had to write about it. Last week I visited “Best Fish Taco in Ensenada” because I saw a review about it on a blog site, and I have to say I’m so happy I fell upon that review. I love Mexican food… and when I walked into “Best Fish Tacos in Ensenada,” I felt like I just walk into a corner taco spot in Mexico. The décor brought me right back to my vacations in Cabo and Mazatlan (Never been to Ensenada)… simple, colorful, and full of personality!
Now for the best part… the tacos… it’s just like the taco bars in Mexico! Fish or Shrimp on the tortilla… and you add all the fixins yourself. They have “hot guac,” which is part guacamole and part hot salsa, and an array of salsas (regular, mango, pineapple, radish). Caution: When the salsa says HOT, they mean it! Oh! And don’t forget to add the cabbage and crema sauce! Delish!
Overall, these fish and shrimp tacos are definitely some of the best I’ve had outside of Mexico! There’s a reason why they are called “BEST Fish Taco in Ensenada.” Oh, and I didn’t even mention how cheap the tacos are ($1.50 for fish and $2 for shrimp)! Definitely an affordable lunch… or dinner… they are open until 9pm!
Cheap, but not great. – OK--I feel like I'm the only one not wowed by this place. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE fish tacos and I miss when I lived in San Diego that you could get them anywhere. After reading the reviews I just couldn't wait to try it.
I ordered three fish tacos (I don't eat shrimp).
I gotta say, they were very soggy, not crispy. And the toppings bar? Maybe I was there on an off day, but I hardly think a big bowl of cabbage and two salsas constitutes a "toppings bar". Considering that you start with just fish in a tortilla, there wasn't much to put on my taco after that.
I really wanted to like it, I just didn't. :(
Cheap tacos, yummy horchata & friendly service – People rave about this no-frills taco stand for a reason: the service is uber friendly -- the owner typically mans the counter, will remember you and make as many jokes as you can stand. The shrimp tacos are so wonderful with the fresh, crispy batter and salsa / guacamole / toppings bar not meant for mild palates.
Bring cash, get a horchata, pay a little more for the shrimp tacos, top them with hot guac, mango salsa, a little lettuce and a nice splat of the crema, and try not to scarf your food down too quickly. You can always get more, you know.
What A Deal! – This place is really delicious! They keep it simple... Fish Tacos $1.50... Shrimp Tacos $2.00... Can of Soda $1.00 (tax included). Tacos are made fresh-to-order and you build your own taco with various salsas and condiments ranging in spiciness. My personal favorite is the shrimp taco but you really can't go wrong with either. I always seem to start with 2 tacos thinking that will be enough but can't help going back for a third. If you enjoy fish tacos, you are going to LOVE these!!
GO THERE! – This place is such a gem! I had been walking/ driving by this place for about a year always assuming it was sub par and rolling my eyes at the fact the the name is so lame, when finally it came up in a conversation I was having with someone and they raved about it. I have it a try considering it was only a few blocks from my place.
Upon entering I noticed that it had sort of a fun little island feel, nothing that would make me rave about the ambience, but simple and yet charming. The menu, which only appears above the register is refreshingly simple stating:
Thats it, nothing fancy, nothing creative just simple and delicious fish taco's made to order, battered and fried in front of you through a glass pane and embellished by you at the great little salsa bar complete with cabbage, several types of salsa ranging in temp and ingredients from pineapple to mango, radish relish, and "crema magica" as they like to call it which I think is just sour cream.
There is nothing other than soda and horchata to drink, but they have a lovely little corkage policy.... you can BYOB as long as you give one to the guy working the register. And with a liquor store a half a block away, you can't beat that. Its a fantastic way to spend part of a hot afternoon at the simple patio furniture in front under umbrellas and misters.
The tacos are small but for $1.50 you can keep ordering them with the change between the couch cushions.
Truly the best fish taco! – This place really lives up to its name. The atmosphere of the taco shop is casual and relaxed but the food is serious. $1.50 for fish and $2 for shrimp makes these tacos hard to say no to. In fact I find myself going back for more and more each time I go. Absolutely a must if you are in the area!
Delectable fish and shrimp come cheap at this cheerful local favorite, reminiscent of a casual beachfront bar in Baha. – In Short
Inside Hillhurst's playful tiki hut, delicious, golden-fried and grilled seafood tacos are doled out by an exceedingly friendly waitstaff. A painted mural covers the back wall, featuring an underwater scene splattered with sparkling multi-colored tiles and small fish. Condiments like the standard crema, rarities like "hot guac," and mango and radish salsa are served in faux white seashells, which customers scoop up as they head out to the patio. Los Feliz locals come here primarily for lunch, casually clad, lining up for made-to-order fish and shrimp tacos.
