Great Food and Service – We celebrated my cousin's birthday at Le Petite Canard on Saturday evening and our experience was superb! The manager recommended the Duck Rati (of course) and I'm so glad I took her suggestion. The duck was exquisite. I was served generous slices of breast and a crispy leg with a delicious grand marnier sauce. My cousin opted for the Crevettes Provencale (sauteed shrimp with garlic, white wine, mushrums and tomatoes served over fresh fettucini) which was equally tasty. I was much too full for dessert but my cousin managed the Cherries Jubilie since it was his birthday. We couldn't have selected a better restaurant for our celebration.
Our waiter was personable and attentive. The restaurant is intimate and cozy and I should add, my wine was delightful.
Needs work – Chaming place, great service, excellent wine list - BUT generic food: Major disappointment in the food department. The menu is very mainstream. Selections include the popular steak frites and the ubiquitious grilled salmon that you find everywhere from Thai to Italian restaurants. No real enticing options. Our food was decent, nothing spectacular or dfifferent from what we've had before (yes, we had the steak frites and the grilled salmon). Overall, an unmemorable dinner.
Le Grande Canard – My friend and I just had dinner at Le Petit Canard for the first time, and thoroughly enjoyed it. It's a Sunday night, and the restaurant was comfortably filled, altho we were easily able to find a table to our liking. The atmosphere is very warm and congenial, with Edith Piaf softy playing in the background -- ideal for a special date. Since I went there for the duck, I ordered the "1/2 crispy duck, with Grand Marnier" which was served with wild rice and mixed fresh vegetables. It was one of the best ducks I have ever had... crispy skin covering succulent meat. I ordered a glass of Cabernet, and it was superb... especially at the pre-inflation price of $7. My friend ordered a light salad and fortunately, there was enough duck for her to sample also. By the way, the rolls are typically French and very tasty... although they could have benefited from a few moments in the oven. For dessert, we shared a wonderful chocolate cheese cake and left feeling very satisfied and determined to return. It's wonderful to have a "real" French bistro in the neighborhood!!!
Editorial Review – French bistro mixes upscale elegance into their quaint, charming atmosphere to create a cozy eatery perfect for dinner or cocktails.
