Most delicious seafood ever – Made reservations for my boyfriend's bday and to say the 1/2 hr wait was seemingless compared to the wonderful experience we had. Crab slider appetizers, courtesy champagne, sweet spanish red wine and the most tender grilled salmon by far. He especially enjoyed his surprise dessert on the house and the warm bread and delictable entrees. Loved our private booth far from the kitchen and look forward to coming back soon while visiting the Austin area!

Some of each – This is a great place for half price happy hour drinks and appetizers. The bar is very comfortable and attractive. The service was good and professional. Of the appetizers we tried the fried calamari was by far the best. Absolutely delicious. After a couple of drinks and appetizers my wife and I went to the dining area which is also quite nice. The service there was on par with the bar. My wife was already stuffed from the appetizers so the waiter allowed me to order just one of the date nite specials. My entree was the filet and it was cooked to perfection and was great. Unfortunately everthing else was subpar. The gumbo was real dark brown, salty and tasted like it had liquid smoke in it. It made me want to run to Quality Seafood, get a bowl of their gumbo and erase the wretched taste from my mind. The vegetables were overmarinated which ruined their natural good flavor. The cake desert, although huge, was mediocre. They were kind enough to comp part of the meal which I felt was very gracious. I would definitely return the this establishment and just be a little more selective. I think the tasty basics of some of the dishes have been overpowered by seasoning masks. I really do like this place though. Maybe I should have given three stars but the gumbo was heart breaking.

Great experience with Truluck's – Last month my boyfriend and I dined with Truluck's. We went on a Wednesday night to enjoy the new half price bottles of wine they are offering. We shared two appetizers and two entrees that were outstanding. I had just returned from visiting family in Arizona and our dining experience was a great welcoming back. I can always count on being taken care of by the awesome staff all around.

AMAZING FOOD & SPECTACULAR SERVICE – we made an online reservation for our anniversary and got a great booth with a spectacular waitress (kera). the bread was hot, filtered water chilled w/o ice, great wine/beer selection, variety of food choices. my husband said his huge steak was amazing, top 4 of all-time eats. it came with creamy garlic mashed potatoes and steak size onion rings. my pan-seared sesame tuna was absolutely amazing. i subbed leeks with smoked gouda - WOW! kera surprised us with a small flourless chocolate torte w/raspberry sauce for dessert and a truffle box. even the dinner mints by the door are awesome! can't say enough great things about this restaurant! great ambiance too. try it, you won't be disappointed. ignore the review about their service, it's just not true.

Service, what service? – The service was terrible. The food was good, but the service overshadowed everything else. Our waiter had to do it on his own. No bus boy or any help. Empty plates sat on the table for at least 10 minutes with our starter course, and 10-15 minutes after the entree. They didn't have the first wine I picked, then ran out of the next (2 bottles),and then ran out of the 3rd (3 bottles). Finished dinner by the glass!! This was an $850 tab for 7 people. There are several restaurants in the area that out services this place by a mile.

The worst thing is I sent an email to the manager, he didn't even respond. They don't care.

Wonderful birthday experience! – My husband surprised me by making reservations at Truluck's for my birthday. I had been craving great seafood for some time. As an appetizer we ordered shrimp cocktail which arrived in a steamy cloud of dry ice. They were plump and meaty. The sauce had a pleasant kick. I ordered the Alaskan King Crab with garlic mashed potatoes and asparagus. The crab was delicious and meaty and was neatly cut down the middle so I didn't get too messy. The potatoes were very flavorful. The asparagus was the only let down of the night - stringy and too soft. My husband ordered the center-cut sirloin 8 oz well done. Very tender and flavorful and didn't require any additional sauces. We were both impressed that the maitre'd served the steak and waited till my husband cut into the center to see if it was satisfactory.

Our waiter did an excellent job as well. Was knowledgeable and courteous when needed and didn't hover unnecessarily. Presented us with a seafood tray describing what was in season. Did a great job recommending a sweet wine to compliment my meal.

We'd been eyeing the gorgeous dessert tray all evening and were going to flag down our waiter to have him show it to us. He informed us that they had a little surprise being prepared (since they knew it was my birthday). They didn't sing, thank goodness! It was a little chocolate cake with a molten chocolate filling and raspberry drizzle. Perfect finishing touch to a delightful meal. And to finish off the night, our waiter gave us a small box of hand-made truffles and birthday card.

We had a wonderful first impression of Truluck's. Excellent food and excellent service. We will definitely be back.

Wonderful food and customer service! – My fiance and I went here on our 2 year anniversary and it was magical. We made reservations and from the hostess to the waiter, bus person and manager, everyone was all smiles and very nice and helpful. And the food was divine! We started with the 3 crab cocktail, my fiance got the steak medallions w/ chicken & shrimp and I had the sesame tuna. Our waiter was very attentive, nice and funny, but not too attentive, nice or funny. I recommend this location over the downtown one and get Adam as your waiter. He even brought us a special occasion dessert w/ candle for free!

Always consistent food & service – When my hubby is craving seafood, we head to Trulucks. Sure it's expensive, but the food and service always deliver. We love the sweet potato fries as an appetiser. I enjoy the steak tenderloin medallions and he orders a different fish every time that he always raves about.

This is a great special occasion restaurant as well as a great place to entertain clients.

A taste of home! – We just moved here and found this restaurant by accident after making a wrong turn from our hotel. The wait staff was exemplary and really went out of their way to make sure everything was just so. Excellent food, amazing desserts..the Key Lime Pie was phenomenal!! I must say it was a bit pricey but worth every penny!! I can't wait for a special occasion so I can convince my husband to go there again!

Averagely Average – First, a semi-bad sign. Our party of 3 had to wait around 20 minutes at 7pm on a Thursday while there were many empty tables. Understaffing a problem, I guess. One in my party had a very weak frozen margarita. The crab, spinach, artichoke dip was lukewarm and overly salty and had one little lump of crab claw meat that I had to dig to find. Plus, it paired better with the sourdough bread for the table, which was brought after the appetizer had already been served, than with the salted soft pretzels that came with it. The snap, crackle, pop shrimp saved the meal for me. It had a nice garlicky flavor. A pleasant surprise. The other entrees at the table, mixed grill and crab stuffed grouper, both passed as good. Service was slow and ill-timed, but friendly. We were not asked if we wanted dessert or coffee.
