Good Eats – We've been to a number of wagamama's london locations and are pleased to see the chain come stateside. On a recent family vacation we stopped in at the new location in Harvard Square. The Katsu chicken curry was excellent-the portion very generous and this sauce is a favourite- creamy and flavorful but not too hot, and the chicken has a nice panko breadcrumb crust that's crunchy/toasty and not at all oily. Also shared the ebi kare lomen, a noodle in a coconut broth with some shrimp. The noodles and broth were delicious, the shrimp on the small side (I recall them bigger at the Quincy Market location which I went to in June on a business trip) but there were enough of them. Our four year old had the kid chicken noodle meal, and happily wiped it out.
The service was speedy and friendly, this store has just opened but the staff knew the dishes by name and item number and were able to recommend a nice glass of wine to complement the meal. Loved the apple lime juice we got the kid, too!
Didn't have the dessert as we walked a couple blocks for ice cream on our tour...
The restaurant was a bit loud, but in a buzzy cheery way.
A good meal delivered quickly, savored and we were on our way.
Popular international chain of UK-based noodle bars opens its first U.S. locations in Harvard Square and Quincy Market. – The Scene
Already familiar to intrepid travelers who have visited one of Wagamama's numerous locations in London or elsewhere, this unique noodle bar has finally set up shop on domestic shores. As with all other locations, diners sit at long, communal tables in stark, minimalist environs. Black-clad servers flurry about the main dining area, sending in orders via hand-held devices. Drink options include fresh juices and a limited assortment of beer, wine and sake.
Wagamama's menu--a fusion of Japanese, Chinese, and Southeast Asian dishes--includes ramen, chili men, teppan and kare noodles served in soup, curry or fried. Popular dishes include chilli chicken ramen, tariyaki beef soba and ginger chicken udon. Sides include ebi katsu (deep-fried king prawns in panko), duck gyoza and Japanese-style pickles, and to ensure freshness, everything is delivered as soon as it's ready.
