Dining Solo? Wagamama near Harvard is perfect! – As a single woman who occasionally dines alone, Wagamama is a great spot for a good meal and glass of wine. I?ve struggled to find a restaurant where I don?t feel intimated eating by myself. The Wagamama Staff were friendly without being too intrusive. The nice thing about Wagamama is that they have an actual bar along the window-- perfect for sitting and people watching.

In terms of the food, I would describe my meal as healthy and eclectic (I ordered the fish salad). I can?t actually pronounce most of the dishes on the menu, but if you are in the mood for rice, noodles, soup, or salad this is where to go! The waiter was helpful and thoroughly explained what my dish would contain. I?ve heard Wagamama is known for making necessary food modifications for people with allergies, diabetes, etc. They also have an unusual chocolate plum cake on the dessert menu which I can see becoming addictive!

Great tasting Asian food – My friends and I (all vegetarians) exhausted all the veggie options in their menu, and honestly found all the dishes to be very tasty. The ginger cheesecake was also very good. All of us were happy with the food. The service was efficient and friendly. And it is economical too. I see myself frequenting this place in the future.

Great Spot for Lunch or Dinner in Harvard Square – Fast & fresh is the theme here. I had a great yaki soba with a fresh squeezed apple juice for lunch. Inexpensive and delicious.

all kinds of wrong – I looked forward to the opening of a stateside Wagamama--despite several disappointing experiences in their London outlets--as I love their atmosphere. The layout in Cambridge is equally enjoyable, but similar to the UK Wagamamas the food is simply not acceptable. It is beyond bland and does not even register within the range of asian taste categories.

Average – Wagamama was interesting, a different dining experience. Atmosphere is casual, but not chill. It kinda felt like I was eating at an IKEA cafeteria because of the decor and the noise. The food was okay, not super memorable, but it was good enough to go back and try something else on their menu, if I'm in the area and feel like some noodles. The food, although asian-inspired is definitely catered towards the non-asian tongue. If you've never been, I'd go once just to check it out.

The UK isn't known for it's Japanese food -- and it shows. – I had heard about Wagamama from a coworker of mine so I went to the new Harvard Sq location to check it out. I must admit I was quite disappointement. First of all the ambiance was loud with no privacy at all and reminded me more of a high school dining hall than a restaurant. The minimalist design didn?t allow for any sound-absorbing material and the bench seating meant I was overwhelmed by the food (and BO) of the man sitting next to me. The food was mediocre, which normally I?d excuse for a "fast food" place, except it was ridiculously priced. Over $11.00 for katsu curry chicken?? I could get the same thing for half the price down the street at one of the Japanese cafes in the Porter Exchange. The chicken was edible but the proportion of the spices was all wrong and so it didn't taste authentic. My dates ramen was so spicy she could hardly eat her meal. There really isn?t anything special about Wagamama. They are simply taking Japanese fast food: ramen, udon, nabemono, etc. and giving it a hipster-spin in order to charge exorbitant prices. Their ?gimmicks? such as no appetizers -- only ?side dishes? (I?m sorry, edamame and gyoza are appetizers, I don?t care whether you serve it with the meal or not), food being delivered as it?s made (so the rest of your party can sit and stare at their food while you wait for your dish to arrive), and bench seating are more annoying than they are helpful. No thanks.

Delicious Food, great variety – My first experience with Wagamama was in Kingston, UK - just outside of London - and wished we had these places in the USA. I was amazed to see it open in Boston and immediately took friends. I think the menu variety is great and am impressed with the presentation and freshness of ingredients. Items are served as they are finished, which can be awkward when eating with others, but fun to give everyone a taste while their's is being served up.

I really like the Chicken Kare Lomen; the combo of coconut and cilantro is refereshing. The Udon Noodles are a great added "extra". The prices are very reasonable and its nice to have other options for Asian cuisine.

Greasy and flavorless, uncomfortable seating, bad acoustics and overpriced

Pros: good location

Cons: everthing else

Greasy and Flavorless – Greasy and completely devoid of flavor. Food comes out at different times for a table of people, which leads to awkward serving of one person eating while the rest of the table watches.
