All hype, no class. – Keepin' it real: if you're down with pretentious, Hollywood-club politics this is your place.

This past Saturday, I was on their guest list, but waited in line for an hour and a half. All the while these BS promoters and doormen, let only a few people in from the "VIP" line. Mind you, my party was here from before opening and only saw about 100 people let in.

We asked a promoter what were the chances of us getting in and they mumbled, "Bottle service, maybe. I don't know. I don't know" (exact quote) while walking away. For me, paying cover isn't a problem, but paying ridiculous amount of money for "bottle service" is just a lame idea (that's killing the club scene IMHO).

I can get into saying that they were being "selective": my party was Filipino and they were only letting in people of a certain skin tone (not exaggerating), but the fact of the matter was they were USING us as free promotion. My party was the ENTIRE line outside. If they let us in, there would be no line outside to make their club look poppin'. This has happened to me on several occasions at other clubs, but other promoters have actually let us in after a reasonable amount of time.

If we had no chance of getting inside, they could have practiced common courtesy and told us to just leave. Oh wait, this is Hollywood, courtesy doesn't exist. Opera+Crimson had no intention of letting us in and used us to promote their club.

Needless to say, we left and took the line with us. As we drove away, we just saw a bunch of doormen outside with no hype, no line, nothing.

I know it's all business and this is Hollywood, but if you're looking to have a hassle-free good time, you're better off going somewhere else. There's countless other places in LA with better service, better music, and a better crowd.

Friend got drugged!! – I will not give the club a total horrific review because it cannot be held fully responsible for its pathetic cespool of patrons, but my friend definately had a rohypnol or similar put in her drink last night!! BE CAREFUL!! The place is difficult to get into on sat night in hollywood, but we didn't have an issue with doormen- but I would suggest getting on the list. The place did have a good crowd, but not even 20min into our FIRST drink my friend said she felt bad, we sat down, and within 5 min she was TOTALLY passed out! I had to carry her out and ended up calling EMS!! just a warning to everyone there...it is hollywood!

Average Club -- Average Decor -- Average Music: A little boring. – I came here alone on my first night in L.A. because I took the late flight and just wanted a quick cocktail. I walked up wearing what I wore on the plane (jeans, sweater and boots). There was kind of a line but I just walked up and asked what the deal was. The bouncer asked me whose invite list I was on, I said none and he said it was a $20 cover. Then he asked me if I was with the people behind me (male and female) and I said no. He let me in no problem and I didn't have to pay anything. Decor was pretty average. I expected more. The house music was really good though. I personally didn't think the crowd was very good looking. It was mostly mid 20's crowd...girls in boring dresses and guys in Ed Hardy (yuck. I didn't think people actually are still wearing this). Drinks were expensive ($12 for a vodka soda). I ended up meeting several guys while smoking who had a VIP table, which was ok. But the "VIP" table is just sitting in the middle of the bar. It's not like you have your own private area. I've read other people's reviews on this place and I can't understand why anyone would wait in line to get in to ANY bar or pay over $10...when there isn't even a good guest DJ or band. If you have anything to complain about people being rude, you probably shouldn't be so stupid to wait around and be treated like that...there are plenty of other good bars in the area to go to. Overall, I though Opera-Crimson was an average club with a nice staff...but it's not really anything special.

Fair Review, Opera is the place to be Fridays – I posted a bad review based on my one night gone wrong at Opera and feel it wasn't fair. Cant blame a club for the greed of disrespectful one door man. This place offers a great venue , amazing vibe and comfortable lounging . DJ knows what hes doing, plays what you want to hear. I recommend getting on guestlist because it can be tad difficult to get into Friday nights, usually a line and a wait but worth it. This place has taken care of me and my friends many nights. Check it out friday nights!

From a guy's perspective... – I see many complaints; it almost turns me off to Hollywood. I've seen drama & it usually results from clashes of egos-both men & women. Try to be the sh!t, pretend you're entitled, or act better than the rest of the crowd, then club staff will be quick to shut you down. You can't win a petty battle of machismo outside of the club so relax & play the game. Be humble, realize you're out for a good time, & you'll have fun. I consider myself a good-looking guy. Maybe, maybe not, who knows. My guy friends are average. Been to Opera thrice and got in twice. Here's how it went down, emphasizing the last time: 1) Jun 08: Showed up at 12:30 on a Thur with my guy friend. Zero wait, no cover, awesome inside. I know it was late on a weekday though. 2) Jul 08: Showed up at midnight alone on a Thur. Didn't bother doormen or bouncers and left 5 mins later when a group of guys heard the bouncer say "No more dudes." Went next door to Crimson. 3) Aug 08: Played the game with my four guy friends from out of town who were 50/50 hip/not dressed hip. We were in line for 30 mins, but it was all good because it was moving. Of course the line was mostly guys and normal/unnatractive girls, & of course groups of hotties skipped the line with no wait at all. Like I said, those are the rules. As long as the line is moving & I'll eventually pay cover and get in, I'm fine with that. I KNOW THAT GOING IN AND DON'T EXPECT TO BE TREATED SPECIAL. The bouncer who looks like Dean Cain wasn't letting in ugly girls, and politely declined when I asked if I could just pay him instead of waiting. Five minutes later out of nowhere a promoter-real nice white guy-asked me how many in my group. I was still only halfway to the front of the line, but said "five guys, whatever you can do." He said "still gotta do my job." Damn. But wait! He opened the ropes and told us to say we were with the two hotties that Dean Cain just let in. We paid him the normal cover and went in,FIVE guys, shocked as hell - in a good way

avoid, unless you enjoy watching classy girls fall and ralph near the doors. richie, a "promoter" is about the most impotent guy in the business. opera was a sad case of lines next to lines. we waited for a minute then left when then the head promoter comes out and bitches out his minions. very professional how everyone seems to be on their phones and getting nothing done. thank goodness social was near and my parking was not wasted. i've been to clubs throughout nyc, sf, and vegas; opera was a sad overinflated case of hype with nothing to back it up. if i wanted to be in a club full of orange county kids, i would travel there.

arrogant self -centered club with 20 dollars surcharge – I am a very elegant lady. I have visited classy clubs all over the world, like Europe, for example Germany, Greece, France, Italy and many others. As well in Canada and USA.

This is the only rude and arrogant night club I've ever seen. They disrespect people, Lie to them and would keep you in the line for hours saying that you will get in, but the reality if you are not connected you will never get in. I was dressed in a 2000 dollar dress by Versace , and even more expensive jewllery, I arreived with my husband in an elegant lemo; and we were to stand in the line for 2 hours. Eventually I asked the doorman when are you gonna let us in, he said that the person in charge went to the bathroom and he never came back! we spent the night waiting in the line, we never got in. Only people who called some connections of theirs was pulled out of the line and got in! eventually we left the area at 1 O'clock , and went to a more respectfull place called Dahab in santa Monica who offered us dinner and Hookah and we spent a lovely night until 3:45 A.M. He compansate for our night.

I had so much fun! – I went to Opera this past weekend and had a great time. My group of 5 (2 men & 3 women) spent the entire night dancing it up and having a blast. We got there by 11:00 were in by 11:10. Some suggestions regarding Hollywood clubs & getting in (to those that complain that its so hard to get in) ...

1. Have more women than men.

2. Be prepared to pay a cover.

3. Whatever they say the cover is for your group is offer a little less.

If you follow these 3 suggestions and put yourself out there to get in you will have no problem (you still have to be the type of clientele they actually want in their club). It's Hollywood. If you don't like it go to Nick's Pub on 3rd and get $8 pint sized cocktails.
