Busy, young and loud restaurant. Homemade pasta and lots of wine to choose from.

I had a good experience. the ambiance was good and the food was good.

Italian born living right by this restaurant. I couldn't believe the restaurants name the first time I saw it.

The name "Terroni" is a deeply offensive racial slur used by northern Italians for Southern Italians like me. It is like naming a soul food restaurant "N***rs".

I'll give the owner the benefit of the doubt. Still, they should do minimal research before using such an offensive name.

Fantastic food! This place gets a bad rap because people are particular and demand vinegar with their olive oil, or Parmesan cheese on their pizza, or they hate the fact that Terroni doesn't slice your pizza for you. Look, people, they're trying to give you a very distinct culinary experience, and it's a damn good one. I think people are crazy to dislike this restaurant. Pasta is incredible, pizza is fantastic too.

"really authentic italian cooking with ""mama"" in the kitchen. family run, the food is some of the best ""homemade"" italian food in town. very reasonable prices and cooking that done by southern italy make this a special, yet verycasual place to have a great dinner. "

Control Freaks – I do not recommend Terroni's to anybody.

Today, my sister and I went to lunch there. My sister is pregnant with twins. She was craving butter with her bread. Her doctor told her that dairy products are good for her during the pregnancy. She requested butter with her bread and the restaurant refused to give her butter.

She begged for butter and the manager said "no". The manager of the restaurant actually said "they don't eat butter in Italy". I explained to this misguided man that we are not in Italy but in the United States of America.

They also don't serve ice tea in Italy. When I asked for ice tea in Italy, they didn't have it. So, these people serve ice tea but no butter.

They forced my sister not to follow doctors orders by refusing to give her butter.

I wonder if I could put an official complaint through to the department of health. Is it legal for a restaurant to refuse to give you butter for your bread?

They said that we had olive oil or nothing.

These people are not after what's important. They are not interested in serving their clients. They are acting like Momma and telling you what you can or cannot have with your meal.

After serving us that slop, how dare them ask for money?

My sandwich was loaded in oil. My sandwich was loaded in calories. It was so heavy. Yet, they serve no butter? It's a con. A hoax, pretending that they are something that they are not!

I will never, ever eat there again.

There are so many delicious Italian restaurants, much more authentic than this one and guess what, they will give you butter!

I have eaten at some very fine restaurants that I have ordered off the menu. I have said at one of the best French Restaurants in the country, I just want a hamburger and I laughed. The fine French restaurant said that if I wanted a hamburger that is what I was going to have.

I was at the best Restaurant in the United States, in New Orleans, their chicken dish, I asked them if I could just have it fried and they said "of course".

But, you go to a mediocre restaurant in Los Angeles and ask for butter and they say "in Italy there is no butter".

Of course, there is butter in Italy. Outrageous!

In fact, grass fed beef butter is very healthy for you!

Good Bye Terroni!

Horrible Customer Service – My fiance and I tried to book their private room for a private party. We informed the events coordinator of the date we wanted; 12/10. She said that was great and she invited us to come in and see the private event room. We went in and checked it out. It looked good. We again confirmed the date with her; 12/10. No problem.

A few days later she calls us up and tells us that the owner has usurped all of the Saturday dates in December for their own personal events. This was not only annoying, since we had begun to inform our guests of the date of our event, but also a pretty poor way of doing business. We then contacted the coordinator and plead our case. She said she'll talk to the owner. She came back a few days later and again said 12/10 is not a problem and she will send the credit card authorization form. Well, she never did and a few days later she calls us to inform us once again that the owner has taken back 12/10, and all Fridays and Saturdays in December. Wow. We were dumbfounded that they could inform us this date was available multiple times and then just snatch it away again like Lucy with the football for Charlie Brown.

We then asked to speak with the owner, who called us and was INCREDIBLY rude and could not comprehend why we were upset. She said (paraphrase) "I can see why you have been so hard to deal with." Basically, she was unapologetic and blaming us for their incompetence.

In summary, DON'T EVER try to book a private event at Terronis. The staff is unhelpful, inconsiderate and they will screw you on the date they allegedly promise you they have available.

Worst in Los Angeles – The lady hostess who seated us was the only good thing. She was very welcoming. After we sat it was all downhill. We asked for extra tomatoes on a pasta, and per the server, it was impossible. We asked for the manager, whom when spoken Italian to, answered in English. "We cannot compromise our dishes for a little girl" was his response (referring to my 3 year old who the dish was for.) Together with a twosome, we were the only ones in the place for lunch. He was incredibly ride, arrogant and unprofessional. By then, some food had come and it was as tasteless as the decor. Nothing tasted authentic Italian; the Italian America joints and even Pizza Hut is better.

A Italian Cafe With Class – My long-distance girlfriend was in town so. I really wanted to impress her. I asked a co-worker where they thought I should take her and they recommended this place. After walking in I was immediately taken aback by the decor. Extraordinarily well designed and put together. Although it had the feel of an Italian cafe, I did not feel overdressed one bit. My girlfriend and I were greeted by both the hostess as well as the owner and taken to our seats promptly. I have read about how much people hate waiting in line, but we walked in the door and were taken to our table within seconds. The atmosphere was lively as it was a Friday night at 8, but service was prompt. The waitress greeted us and took our drink orders and let us be. When I am out on a date I have always liked when a waitress gives you time to talk and doesn't make you feel like they are rushing you out of the place. Next the owner herself came up and greeted us, which made both of us feel really special, she gave us her recommendations which both sounded amazing, and then she personally took our orders. Once again my date and I were given enough time to talk before our food came out. The food was great! Not overcooked like many Italian restaurants I have been to out here in LA. Once again the owner came up to ask us how our meal was which was more than we could ask for! We ended out with the chocolate cake which was to die for! soft, moist and chocolaty outside, with warm fudge on the inside!! Content with ourselves we asked for the check, once again not being rushed whatsoever, and paid the bill. Overall, I thought Terroni was exactly what I was looking for. Great food, great service, and no rush! Plus it was somewhere I felt confident I could take someone and impress them without feeling like it was a place every highschooler went for prom.

Do not go here if you prefer good service! – I really wish I had read these comments prior to going to this restaurant. The WORST service in the world!!! Our waiter was literally acting as if we were lucky to be seated there. Never were we offered another drink, our water glasses remained empy and when I asked for our bill, I was given a look of annoyance where he held up his finger and said rudely, "wait". But the best was my asking for parmesan cheese. I had steak with some cooked greens and I like to add a little cheese to the greens. When I asked, I was told "no". He then walked off. When the bill finally arrived, I told the waiter that my meal could have been better had I had the cheese and that as a CUSTOMER, I should be allowed to have what I want with my dinner. He said the cheese would ruin the taste of the meat. Um, okay, I wasn't going to put it on my meat. I was putting it on greens that had been cooked in a bit of oil. Not really gonna ruin the taste of something I could make at home. So, in my annoyance of horrible service, our expensive dinner became a bit cheaper since no tip was given. I've been a server and I know how to handle customers and Terroni, I am amazed you're still in business. I hope you go under-food was NOT that spectular and service was abhorent!

DOUBLE CHARGED AND NOT REFUND...ONE WAY TO MAKE MONEY – We did enjoy the food, the service, the room is a bit loud but lends itself to a Manhattan vibe and you have to like that in the land of weather (LA)...we did like this place until we found they had doubled up on our tip more than a week after we had visited them...hmm. The office Manager admitted the "Mistake" and told my wife, well, sorry but tough. I personally drove over to confront the situation and met the manager who seemed sincere enough, took my card and stated he was going to credit us back the tip, as it turned out he totally shined me...I hope he had a good laugh...most of my friends are in the Entertainment business and I've already gone viral on Facebook...check your accounts if you've been there recently to make sure there are no "Mistakes" on your account(s)...I guess they aren't making enough money, but who is these days...gouging your customers? Not good but outright stealing, not acceptable...BUYER BEWARE...

Best Italian Restaurant in LA – Amazing simple Italian food, best I've found in Los Angeles since moving back from Milan.

Simple fish and meat dishes as starter and entree, great pizza, and prepared as they should be and would be in Italy with good fresh ingredients.

The customer service complaints seem to be because the restaurant owners want you to taste something as it should be. Take a risk and follow them :-)

Terroni – Being the the service industry, everyday me and my asscoiates go out of our way to give the best customer service! Why in this economy, when restaurants are closing by the hundreds everyday, would a manager not give a customer what they want.? Shame on you TERRONI!

I would fire every single person that works there starting with the manager!

And who ever the owner is, you have no business running a restaurant! You will be another statistic soon, because customers do not need to be treated that way!

After reading this review, I will tell all my firends not to eat there! See, you should have given the Guy From LA his cheese and olive oil! This is going be the most expensive olive oil you have seen! I'd say thousands if not tens of thousands in business!

Worst Customer Service in LA – I was meeting a business associate at this restaurant for dinner. I arrived at the restaurant early and got seated. After a few minutes, the bus boy brought a tiny mini-saucer with about an ounce of olive oil (literally) and bread to the table. I asked him if he could bring one more saucer of the olive oil because there were two people eating. There were two reasons for this. First it was such a minute amount, it would not be enough for two people, and second because I don;t think it is appropriate to be swabbing bread in a tiny saucer with a business associate you have never met. Not much to ask at a fairly pricey restaurant. I was abruptly put in my place and told that this is very expensive olive oil and that was all I was going to get. Temporarily stunned and not believing what I was hearing, I said ok and asked him to bring me a side of Parmesan cheese. I happen to like Parmesan cheese and olive oil with my bread. Sue me. On this 'ridiculous request' that I seemed to be making I was once again told, "No, you cannot have any cheese. That is not allowed." At this point, after only being seated for 5 minutes and having somebody so rudely greeting me, I was literally starting to boil over. I told the bus boy I wanted a side of Parmesan cheese and he once again said "No you are not getting any."

At that point I told him to send the manager to the table. When the manager arrived I thought I was going to finally get an apologetic ear but to my surprise the manager was even ruder. She told me "I'm sorry that is not allowed. It ruins the taste of the olive oil." I said to her that I like Parmesan cheese with my olive oil and I decide what is good for my taste buds or not. Once again she said "The chef has made the decision that the food should be eaten the way he prepares it." It's not a food dish I told her. It's the olive oil you dip your bread into. I explained that I was about to drop $100 on a pasta dinner and that if I wanted some Parmesan cheese with my microscopic saucer of olive oil, I should be able to get it. I sincerely believed at that point she would say "Ok...this time, but we can't do it again." BUT NO. She replied "I'm sorry but we do not allow any substitutions on the menu". I told her this wasn't a substitution, I wanted a freakin' little side of Parmesan cheese. Once again the answer was . "NO"

If I had not been meeting someone for business, I would have gotten up and walked out of the restaurant. Unfortunately it was not the time or place to do so, so I sat there and dealt with it. When I got my ridiculously over-priced pasta dish for dinner, I couldn't even ask for Parmesan cheese in fear they would have said no and I would have flown off the handle.

What a miserable restaurant. Mediocre food, over-priced and absolutely no clue as to how to make a paying customer happy. I paid the bill, but now I will tell everyone I know, and post reviews telling people not to go to this horrific restaurant.

There are far better Italian restaurants in LA that actually respect their customers.

For the 2 tablespoons of Parmesan cheese they could have put on my table, they will now lose thousands of dollars in potential business because this review be posted in multiple places.

I hope they like the taste of THAT.

Not Customer Friendly – They're nuts. Ordered a pasta but wanted them to omit garlic b/c I'm alergic. "Oh no" says the waitress. The chef knows best, we can't have any changes to the dish.

What? does the ego-maniacal chef want to pay the bill too? Didn't want to make a scene so chose something else -- tho it didn't appeal to me as much as the other -- except without garlic. Then asked for tea with lemon. "Oh no!" says the brilliant 20-year old know it all. No lemon with tea. "It intereres with the taste."

Long story short -- we left.

Good food...service, notsomuch :( – I have been to Terroni three times and enjoyed every bite I've taken there. BUT, as is sadly the case in many LA restaurants, the food far eclipses the service, leaving me frustrated. Now that Chefs are stars, there is great food at more and more places...but someone seems to have forgotten that we go out looking for a full experience. Maybe there should be a Top Server show to inspire better service.

In this economy, going out to eat is more of a luxury than a hobby; my friends and I don't mind spending a good amount of money on a good dinner out, but we want to feel taken care of. Also note that in this economy, I would think servers would try harder as there are more people waiting in the wings to take their jobs.

Our server Montse would disappear for extended periods of time, not check in with us to see how food was or to take the order for our next course. When we first ordered, we started with salad/app and explained we would share food in rounds (as is the Italian way, which is the theme of the restaurant.) We arrived at the table with drinks from our wait at the bar, but Montse never offered to get us new ones when they were empty. Once we ordered a pasta to share, we never saw her again until we flagged her down, at which point she was ready to give us our check--but we hadn't even ordered our entree yet! We did, then ate it without being checked on, then had to find her again to ask for the check, after deciding to skip dessert (which we love and almost always have.)

So, in short, we spent an hour longer at our table than we had to, and could have easily spent another $50 on more drinks and dessert. Efficiency FAIL. I hope management reads this.

To top it off, when the valet brought my car around...he was on his phone! While driving my car (which is a stick shift BTW)! No headset. I called him out on it, and he laughed. Major annoyance.

unworthy of your patronage! – I will only take the time to write a review of a place that is either really good or really bad. BAD SERVICE WITH A BAD ATTITUDE. In these troubled economic times, it is disappointing to pay extravagant prices for uninteresting food with a side of bad energy. Although their menu initially appears to have variety, it lacks important information such as, there are modifications, special requests, or dietary circumstances that are as important as the owners / chefs ego. They even informed me that they use a low quality balsamic vinegar in their kitchen that they would not serve to the in the public eye, but informed me that they did sell bottles of vinegar that I could use on my salad if I chose to purchase one. The salad I ordered which consisted of greens, three mushrooms sliced and some shaved Parmesan was overpriced and underwhelming. Their dressing was oily and uninteresting. When we ordered a pizza, we asked for fresh basil (it was in season at the time) but they said they did not have any. When the pizza was served, I requested some Parmesan, which they refused. I have spent months in Italy for work and vacations over the years and it is my favorite country to it in. Their hospitality and love of food makes every meal a pleasure. Any true Italian would be ashamed of this place!!! Go to Angelini Osteria Restaurant down the block… a way better choice!

Great pizza! – I love pizza here. period.

ok, if someone likes american style food like you can eat at cheescake factory ro california pizza kitchen.(I am not downgrading cheesecake factory and california pizza kitchen) To them, probably Terroni's food seems too simple and boring.

However, if you like simple and neat style food, then I recommend this place. This restaurant's totato sauce is good. I always order margherita pizza and seafood pasta whenever I go there and it never disappoints me.

Price is a bit high but I still like this place.

ABSURD ABSURD ABSURD IDIOTIC AVOID AT ALL COSTS! – Don't give these people your money. GO ANYWHERE ELSE. Ridiculous idiocy, trust me, no matter how good your day was, they will ruin your evening,

Pricey for such terrifically mediocre food. A glorified pizza place that really wants to pretend it's a five star restaurant; it's not.

Rude, untalented and borderline fascistic service. The customer is always wrong here. I've eaten in five star restaurants all over the world all my life and honestly I have never encountered the kind of insulting arrogance from a restaurant staff that is on display here, and clearly has been trained down to the bone on fear of death, dismemberment, or at the very least, loss of livelihood by the owner. They not only want to tell you what to eat, they want to tell you how to eat it. Next they will actually order it for you, then eat it for you, then tell you how much you liked it, then you'll pay for it, and they'll go home and have sex with your date. You think I'm kidding but I just got a call from them letting me know how much I enjoyed my evening.

In short: DON'T. EAT. HERE.

great italian pizza – my italian friend whom i like so much brought me to this place, for which he knows i soooo love italian food! food was great and i really love it! however, the place is tiny so there would be a chance of hurrying up so that other clients could use the table, leading to messing up the time to get more sweet with your date. it would totally kill a romantic date! so, if you are planning on something romantic, do not go here! this place is good for friends :)

Third class restaurant at first class price – the waitress was uninterested and the service was definitely not "Mediterranean style" , the portions were SMALL and the prices were large. No flexibility or desire to accommodate customer request. The bread did not fit the place or the prices (more like a Danny's bread) . A simple salad @ $17 and main course too small of a portion to feed a normal person.

Overall rating, Mediocre (at best)

It's loud on it's own because of the acoustics of the building, but they also blast this really frenetic, annoying music. Our waiter was inattentive and somewhat rude. He disappeared at some point. Careful, Terroni thinks it's better than you – The atmosphere was great, the wine was overpriced ($18/glass...is this the Four Seasons?), but it was great, and the menu looked extensive. But DON'T be fooled. This is a restaurant that thinks it's better than its customers. My husband & I have never felt so belittled by a restaurant's absurd policies!!

The bread is dry, can we please have some butter, or balsamic vinegar? NO, we believe you should only eat bread with olive oil. The calamari looks good, can we please have some dipping sauce? NO. What about a side of marinara, we know you have that in the kitchen. NO, we don't want you to eat our calamari with our marinara. Hmmm. The pizza comes out, it's too dry and flavorless. Some Parmesan cheese? We just saw you bring some to our neighbor for their pasta. Absolutely NO, we don't want you to eat parmesan with our pizza. Excuse me??????

It was so rude, so belittling. To have the ingredients, to bring them to the table next to you, but to outright REFUSE to bring them to you? It's inexcusable. No paying customer should be made to feel like we're not good enough to sit in your seat. Like your opinion of how to eat pizza is better than mine. You can eat your pizza how you'd like, but with all due respect Chef, you're making food for ME to eat! It's not your meal when I'm paying for it. It's mine.

The manager went on to argue with my husband, who is Italian, and who has lived in Italy, that this is the European way. What is, rudeness? Well this is Los Angeles, and your restaurant is across the street from the Grove, for God's sake. And here in California, restaurants earn loyal customers with courtesy and delicious food. Not insults and dry pizza.

Btw, this is the first restaurant I have ever written a review about, ever...

Just not worth it – We were looking forward to his as it was my son's 15th birthday and a year ago at this time we had a great experience. This time was very different. The waiter was very nice, but slow and preoccupied, and the food was all wrong. The squash blossoms were overdone, fried in what tasted like old oil and hot on the outside and cold on the inside. The grilled calamari salad missed the mark with overly grilled (and therefore way too chewy) calamari. Finally, when I cut my knee on a really sharp, unfinished piece of the table, no attempt was made to "make it right." All in all, there are way too many really good Italian restaurants in LA (like Cafe Angelino and Angeli) to bother with Terroni.

pass on this one – in a time when businesses are literally doing anything to survive, i was shocked at the arrogance of terroni. they have decided that everything is so perfect as is, that you can not make any changes to the menu items AT ALL. 'no marinara with the calamari, no you can't add pancetta to that pasta dish,' etc. etc. i thought about leaving but i was hungry so i tried my server's alternate suggestion of a dish that had a cheese and meat sauce. it reminded me of hamburger helper and my wife agreed with my assessment. terroni has some potential but it will fail unless the owners suppress their rather large egos and realize that people will stop going there if they can't get what they want. better restaurants in l.a. are more than happy to accommodate customer's reasonable requests and they will always earn my future business. terroni will not.

Overpriced, terrible service, mediocre food, why eat here when there are other AWESOME restaurants? – I love great food. I'm Italian. It takes a lot to impress me, but I don't get upset and write negative reviews very often. In this case, I am making an exception. I live in the area and have walked by this place 100 times and was excited to eat there. I had some family in town, so I thought that this would be the perfect place to eat and relax. I was dead wrong and very embarrassed when all was said and done.

Strikes list:

1. You have to pay for bread at the table. $5 for bread? C'mon guys...

2. Calamari was cold.

3. We had to pour our own room temperature water. No ice? Really?

4. Our waitress disappeared a dozen times. No clue...

5. We had to to BUS our own table! After every course we were so tired of staring at dirty plates that we had to stack our own and move them to the corner of the table.

6. Cold food, very cold. Maybe due to the disappearing act by our waitress?

7. Ridiculously overpriced. Seriously. This is NOT Beverly Hills, but expect to pay Beverly Hills prices.

8. $35 corkage fee if you want to bring your own wine.

9. Did I mention the service was an absolute joke?

10. You have to have a party of 6 or more to get attention from the waitstaff. Or so it seemed.

Base hits:

1. Tasty food. Definitely NOT worth $30/plate, but tasty nonetheless.

2. Location.

I have had meals that have far exceeded the, four person, bill that this place gave us. I have absolutely no problem paying for quality. This is NOT worth the money.

You really let me down Terroni.

We are from Cincinnati and were visiting our children in November, who live around the corner from the restaurant. As one of our children had a baby that was just 2 months old, we called ahead of time and asked if they had a problem with babies. They were totally accommodating. The service was great, waiter was friendly, and outgoing, and the food was wonderful and reasonably priced. I would recommend this restaurant to everyone!!!

great food, service and ambiance - what else can you ask for?! – I usually don?t write reviews, unless the experience is extremely bad, or in this case -extremely good.

My first time at this place was 2 weeks ago on Sunday night when my boyfriend took me over. Since then, I was there couple more times with my best friend and my boyfriend again, and now Terroni is my new restaurant for Sunday night! The playlist is great with loud music. The service is so helpful and nice without any attitude. My first time there, I didn?t know which wine I want since the selection is so broad, our sweet waitress brought over 4(!) different samples according to my taste, until I found the one I loved- Balbium; you must try it! The food is so delicious, not just another American-Italian joint, but authentic Italian food! Try the grilled calamari salad and the sardine salad with olives and crispy prechuto for apps and also the perfectly cooked Al-dente pasta. Desserts are great (even more so when the chef sends you one, just because this is how nice they are there!)

The decor is inviting, warm and comfortable. With an open kitchen where you could see the ?behind the scene? and almost hear the sound of scraping pans on top of the burners, the music and the patrons conversations, everything just creates a great experience.

So, after having such a great experience, its really hard to imagine things like ?No on parmesan over pizza ? or discrimination to customers as one of the reviews claimed?and it?s fine with me they don?t give you balsamic vinegar to mix with the olive oil- it will ruin it! Anyone who says the olive oil is bitter, clearly doesn?t know quality. the only thing which wasn?t perfect was that I asked the bartender if they have a good Bellini and he gave me a peach nectar with sparkling wine. Mmm?.I thought Bellini is peach PUREE, sparkling wine and a splash of Cream De Cassis liquor?but it?s ok, he was still nice.

overall- FINALLY a fun, delicious, friendly place to go out with reasonable prices! love it!

What's with the attitude!! – I met up with friends this past Saturday night and we decided to meet at Terroni - fun lively and decent food so I thought.

While waiting for the rest of our party, a few of us converged at the bar. The bartender was great, recommended a nice red wine. The hostess knew there was 6 of us dining so I was shocked when she put us in a booth that barely accommodated 4 people. When the last of our party arrived we complained saying there was no way we could comfortably eat at the table. They said wait a few minutes and then placed us at a larger table. Mind you there was no cutlery, the waiter disappeared for what seemed like 20 minutes and no one brought us the wine we ordered. Bottom line, throughout the entire meal, we had to summon people to get what we ordered, poured our on wine, the food was not brought out toghether, one person got there meal after almost everyone else was done and the topper - my friend asked for parmigana on his pizza and they flat out refused saying it was a policy - only on pasta - what the f! Our bill was over $400 and they included the tip which was ridiculous since there was little or no service.

No going back anytime soon!

Good food but terrible attitude – We had been here once before and thought it was good, so we brought our friends for dinner. We ordered a bottle of wine, because their corkage fee is so high for a place like this..$25. The we ordered our dinner. Our friend really wanted a few walnuts on his Margarita pizza, and was told there was no way they would do this because all the dishes cannot be changed in any way, or they would no longer be "authentic". So we asked if we could just order a side order of walnuts. Not allowed! This restaurant has no desire to please the diner. Reading all these reviews, it is obvious that we were not alone. This is West Hollywood, not Italy, although our experiences in Italy have certainly not been similar to this! The owner of this restaurant should get off it if he intends to have a restaurant here in a few years. There is way too much competition in this town of excellent restaurants to have so much negative attitude.

Cool Music, Cool decor; Average Food = Lots of squirtz and stomach aches! – Expecting something new and fresh.

Average food.

Panini Classico very bad. Meat was off, as was cheese and bread.

People's pizza's were average, but hey its pizza.( Don't ask for the parmigiana, they have a rule)

Forewarned by friends who came in and said reviews were bad.

Ate half of sandwich and most of salad.

Got home and used bathroom; not crazy but confused at what my stomach was doing...

Hungry, decided to eat the second half of Sandwhich...while eating it I thought why am I eating this, it is bad.

I'm a Guy. Not a lot of food in my house..

Immediately after eating rest of Classico, my stomach started to get upset at me. Saying loud things to me.

Montezuma's revenge had begun.

till this morning!!

Montezuma seems (crossing fingers and holding toilet paper) to have left my good natured stomach.

One word; IT IS A RISK TO EAT HERE FOR AVERAGE FOOD...

Its never a good feeling to realize that you didn't expel gas ;)

And the last time I did that was when I was a kid eating contaminated pizza!

Reading the reviews earlier and seeing that there were identical health symptoms leads me to believe that this place is doing business in unsafe matter.

Avoid and report to authorities.

In response to the post:The owner of Terroni's hate ..... – Dear friend,

I waited on you on the election night, I was polite and courteous as I approached your "tiny" table, and all you could offer was hostility and rudness towards me (the gay waiter), I had no idea you were denied a bigger table...but of course the waiter takes the blame, doesn't he? Too sad you left out the TRUTH in your review, and decided to write a defeamatory statement instead. At TERRONI there's absolutely NO issue with gender, race and sexual orientation whatsoever, neither towards the customers or the employees, and I am a gay man myself.

Shame on YOU for having behaved in that matter when you came in that night, even humiliating your boy-friend, YES he was mortified. I am not even going to write what really happened that night.

Going around writing review about a restaurant is one thing, I can accept that, but spreading that false rumor about a person,-in this case a business- hating gay people, shows your worst of human behaviour, you should be ashamed.

I really hope you carefully listened to Obama's speech that night

Recreating fascist Italy... right here in LA! – When Terroni opened a year ago I lived two blocks away and loved going there. Some of my friends were a little upset that you couldn't make modifications or substitutions to the menu items, but having waited tables in the past, I figured this was just to create efficiency in the kitchen and make service more expedient. I had a couple favorites on the menu and never had a problem with it... until today.

I have probably eaten here 15-20 times in the last year, and I'm pretty much a creature of habit in that I usually order one of a select few items. Today I ordered my favorite pizza: Santo Stefano (crushed tomato, bufala mozzarella, prosciutto and arugula). When the dish came I asked as always for some pepperoncini and parmesan, to which I was told, "I can bring you pepperoncini, but we don't serve parmesan with pizza". Needless to say, this is not the first time I have requested parmesan, only the first time I was denied it. So, I asked if I could purchase some parmesan, thinking the economy is bad, maybe they are trying to cut costs. No. My friend asked if he could have some parmesan for his salad. No. The manager came over and continued to insist I wasn't getting any parmesan, with a little quiver in her voice as if Mussolini himself were peeking out from the kitchen to ensure she followed orders.

Once I realized that I was arguing over a bit of shaved cheese, I was actually embarrassed. How did it come to this? When did processed curds become the cause I was so passionate about that I felt the need to feud over their viability as a condiment? The answer was the moment I decided to walk through Terroni's front door. Much like Black Friday, politics and unhindered power, Terroni brings out the worst in people and I'm not going to be subjected to seeing that side of myself again.

The owner of Terroni's hates gay people – We arrived at Terroni?s on the evening of November 4th. Due to the election it wasn?t crowded at all. There are four booths situated on the north end of the main dining room. Three of the four booths had two people seated at them. The final booth was free. We asked if we could sit there and the host informed us that we could not. It seemed odd, since there were three identical tables with only two patrons, but we did not press the issue, guessing they were saving the table in the off chance a group arrived. Then about two minutes later a new couple arrived to the restaurant and was immediately sat at the table. That?s when it dawned on me. Booths were okay for two people, as long as that couple was comprised of one man and one woman - which now occupied all the "good seats." I asked to speak to the owner, thinking he would have a good explanation and instead he confirmed that he didn?t like ?us? and that we could leave if we didn?t like it. So we did.

Oh, and yes, we made it home in time for Obama's speech!

Favorite Casual italian – People that give Terroni a low rating must be out of their mind! the food especially the pastas are amazing! The flavors are always consistently good and the selection of pastas are more interesting than any other italian restaurant of the same price level. This place is perfect for any occasion, once u try it u'll see what i mean.

This place is a joke – I've been using citysearch for years now and I've never felt compelled to waste my time signing up or to review a restaurant but I am compelled to simply because this place is so awful. The service is awful and snobbish. The food tasted like excrement and when I asked for some balsmic vinegar to mask the putrid taste of their sea bass they lied to me and when I insisted they talked down to me. I have never walked away from a meal feeling such anger.

Can't speak for L.A. – I only rated the L.A. location 4/5 ("recommended) because I can't post without a rating. I've never been to the L.A. location, but I just feel like I have to speak up for the sake of the Terroni name. I have been going to Terroni in Toronto since the days when they were just about 7 tables and about 5 bar stools. The food has not changed one bit - it tastes fresh and the flavours all blend together well... basically simple food without any fuss. The vibe at two of the three locations (Eaton Centre which is now on Adelaide, and the original Queen West) is laid-back and friendly, while at the other location on Yonge, it's a bit more like you'd expect from a more formal restaurant in that uptown neighbourhood (friendly, but reserved and "proper"). It's unfortunate to see that people have had bad experiences with service in L.A. as this has never been the case in Toronto and therefore is not in keeping with what I've come to know as the spirit of Terroni: Food and service that's simple, not pretentious. I'm actually intrigued now to see what it will be like to ask for cheese on my pizza or pasta. I've never asked for cheese on my pizza, but have asked for the oil with no problems, and cheese is always offered with my pasta. As for the no reservation policy and no cutting of the pizzas, that is how they have been from day one. I prefer the no reservation policy only because I've been to many restaurants waiting in line while tables sit empty waiting for patrons. Also, I love the margherita pizza and love the simplicity and pretty presentation of a nicely marbled, uncut pizza... beside, that's what the knives are for. I can't wait to go to L.A. and check out the latest addition to the Terroni family. It better be good!

WOW – i've been to terroni over and over again with friends. the food is ALWAYS amazing. the wine (i try something new each time) is always perfect. the staff are sooooo helpful and easy on the eyes = ) must haves, magiabunn pizza, puzza pizza, tagliatelle ragu, lamb ragu special (if they have it). Buffalo caprese- yes, it's true-NO balsamic-TRUST ME, it WOULD ruin it.

it seems as though there are a lot of haters out there that have been ruined by the LA "sure sir/ma'am, whatever you want-bastardize our menu if it makes you happy" metality but, if you're ready for a true italian meal in a great environment with great people terroni is the place for you. for everyone else, take your bad energy some place else. xo

The pizzas and tomato sauce are AMAZING! – There's a whole lot of doggin' happening on this site, and I must say, as a repeat customer, it surprises me. I see the same folks there eating again and again... I know this cuz I sit at the bar and have dinner on average three times a week. The bar staff is awesome - totally friendly, funny, and conversational. The hosts are adorable, and the servers (from what I've noticed) are always smiling. A lot of us from the neighborhood frequent Terroni & it's because the food is delicious. They serve real southern Italian that possesses a subtlety few restaurants are willing to present. The ingredients are definitely high quality and you can actually taste them! Pizzas are out of this world... I can't imagine how people don't like the pizza. I've had almost every selection (of like 30!). My favorites include the Bufalina, Santo Stefano, and anything with the spicy sausage. The tomato sauce is delectable - I actually close my eyes when I take a bite to be sure I'm experiencing it fully. Maybe I'm a geek, but whatever. I came to put in my good word, and I'm glad I did! Definitely give it a try!

Avoid this place at all costs if you are pro-cheese. – What a ghastly experience. My so-called tuna salad was a sorry mess of limp greens with a meagre sprinkling of canned tuna. My husband's pasta was cold. The bread was as sad as my salad, and accompanied by bitter olive oil. The waiter was condescending. Then my friend committed the cardinal sin of attempting to put parmesan on her seafood pasta. The aforementioned condescending waiter told her she was not allowed to put cheese on her pasta. At first we thought he was joking but sadly, this was for real. There followed a Fawlty Towers like tug of war between my friend and the waiter, as the parmesan was pulled first one way then the other. My friend was victorious (helped by my husband, who finally wrestled the cheese away from the waiter's cold dead hand). We finished our mediocre meal and paid the bill, vowing never to return. At this point we received a visit from the owner who, like his food, was cold and bitter. He first explained he had heard about our misunderstanding. We all smiled, anticipating an apology. However, The Big Cheese himself told us we were never to darken his door again - he did not want us in his restaurant ever again. He was extremely rude and clearly considers himself a superior being. Perhaps he has a Cheesus Complex. Strongly recommend giving this place a miss unless you have masochistic tendencies and enjoy poor food accompanied by insults.

Cheese, you want cheese? Off with your head...or get out!!!! – Mediocre, lukewarm food. Bland bread accompanied by bitter olive oil. Pasta Amatriciana almost sans pancetta...salade tonnato with a miniscule amount of (what tasted like canned) tuna...and finally, the owner would rather throw you out of his restaurant (after you've paid, of course) than allow you to have cheese on your seafood pasta!! In fact, the waiter attempted to remove the cheese from this diner's hand as it (the cheese, not the hand!!) was being used inappropriately.

Believe it or not.....we were banished from Teronni for insisting on using cheese on Seafood Pasta..and yes, the so-called "owner" waited until after we paid to inform us we were being sent to the Los Angeles Gulag of Other Restaurants because we violated his sacred rules, ultimately giving us our money back after it was apparent we were not going to leave quietly without recompense.

Apparently this mirrors the experiences of a a previous review on this site entitled "Garbage" (8/17/08). So..if you want to have your own Seinfeld experience.....your own "Soup Nazi"...and fine dining isn't an issue...go to Teronni....you may have an experience you will never forget.

I'm doubtful of review sites.... – I don't know, I'm doubtful of how legit these sites are. I have friends in the restaurant industry in NYC. I know first hand the importance they place on Cityseach and Zagat. They petition their friends, patrons and investors to post positive reviews because they know that it effects their bottom line. It's the sad truth, and a restaurant, regardless of how good or bad it really is, can sometimes be made or broken by these ratings. So, yeah I read 'em, but I'm always curious about their true origin. On top of that, call me pessimistic, but I'd venture to say most people don't take the time to say good things, they take the time when they have a beef.

With all that said, I was just reading my bank statement and could not for the life recall a charge for "Terroni" that was listed. A Google search brought me here and reminded me of the totally mediocre meal I had at this restaurant recently for a friends birthday. Let's start by considering I couldn't even place the name of this restaurant. Strike one, unmemorable. Strike two, the food just kinda sucked. The pasta was quite tasty, seemed home made and cooked al dente. Better than most I've had, but unfortunately pared with their sauce it was dull and bland. 3 different pastas at the table all had the same issue. An Arugula salad with lemon dressing tasted no more than Arugula tossed with lemon juice. Caprese was boring. Funny, none of us asked for any additions to our meals, though we were tempted to ask for some Balsamic. Based on the reviews here I almost wished I had. But honestly, our server was a joy; really sweet and helpful with our requests for recommendations.

It seemed as if this place was going for a very elemental simple approach to food; preferring to let you focus on just a few ingredients rather than layers of flavor. I can respect that. I just didn't like it. I think you can create complexity of flavor while minimizing the number of ingredients. Didn't happen here.

So, that's my beef.
