Great service, great food – I work on Broadway and am a regular at Mirch Masala. The lunch buffet is great--it varies daily, although there are a few items that are there every day (like their yummy butter chicken). I am a big fan of the vegetarian Goan curry and the channa masala, two staples of the buffet. The great food coupled with warm service (friendly and timely) makes Mirch a worthy lunch spot.

Tastes like Chinese Food – Funny how if you go to a Chinese restaurant in India (I have), it tastes like Indian food. Actually, that's a really interesting combination. Yum.

A little stranger is an Indian restaurant in America that tastes like Chinese food. My companion and I both agreed, that is exactly how we'd characterize it.

This restaurant lives up to its name (Mirch = Hot Pepper, Masala = Spices). The Butter Chicken sauces, Naan, and Mango Lassi were all yummy, but a little salty. The tandoori Chicken Alfraidi might well have been served at Snappy Dragon. The chicken in my Butter Chicken had a similar Chinese taste. I'd say they were all on the oily side compared to most Indian restaurants. I hate to be prejudiced, but maybe I should've expected this when all the employees working there were Asian, not Indian.

Heavy spices somewhat make up for the lack of identity. The atmosphere is a little confused, too, but nice.

Attentive service, appealing simplicity and a vegetarian-friendly menu makes this casual Indian restaurant an instant favorite on Broadway. – In Short
An excellent lunch buffet includes baskets of piping hot naan and a number of fresh salads in addition to rich standards like butter chicken; about half the choices on any given day are vegetarian. Ordering from the menu is an option at both lunch and dinner, and each dish is kept hot at the table over a tea light. Remarkably attentive service--even during the lunch rush--keeps glasses full.
