The best there is! – My wife and I had dinner here on Feb. 14, 2012. We usually go to other high end restaurants in the area (Rothmann's, Ruth Chris', Frankie & Johnny's) but decided to try someplace new. We are both glad we did. Everything was great! Our waiter was Christopher. He was always there when you wanted him but did not hang all over you all the time. Nor did he try to sell you something. He just made a suggestion, if the opportunity presented itself. My filet was cooked to perfection, my wife's lobster was also. The crab cakes were to die for! The creamed spinach was made from FRESH spinach--not frozen, as it was in other nearby restaurants. How they make the delicious mashed sweet potato, I would like to know! They were out of this world! When we got the 2 sides, half of each was given to each of us and there was enough left over of each to feed a 3rd person! The drinks were hearty and lower in price than nearby competitors. All in all, a great dining experience.

Pros: Everything.

Cons: I can't think of any. Can you?

Best steak in NYC – One of the best meals I've had in New York and it's just round the corner. The steak was sensational the sides of onions, mushrooms and broccoli were terrific the baked potato was perfect and the strudle was to die for. While great cooking helps to make a great meal it was Tracy who made us feel special. He did not just ask if we had a great meal he offered advice, he talked and really cared about his customers. Great job we will be back.

Fabulous Steakhouse – Uncle Jack's is awesome. They have great Wednesday night special for the ladies, that is free cheese and wine! What more can you ask for? Well, you can ask for some beef.

Their waygu steak is awesome but it is $100 per serving so it is kind of expensive. If you don't want to break your bank, their regular cuts are fabulous too.

I came today for their lunch special, which is quite reasonable and comes with good portion. The sesame salmon was well seasoned and tender. My boyfriend got the 20 oz rib steak and it was tender, juicy and delicious.

Service was attentive and I consider it a great business lunch spot and occasionally when you want to pig out on red meat!

Great Deals and Steak – My co-blogger and I took a friend here last night as a thank-you dinner for doing design work for our blog - 89th and Broke. We decided on Uncle Jack's for a number of reasons, but mainly we wanted to try out one of their deals. Thursday night is Ladies and Gents Night, meaning you get a free martini (for the ladies) or scotch, port, whiskey and bourbon (for the gents) at the bar from 5-7. These free drinks are typically coupled with apps, so we were sold.

Luckily we easily grabbed a spot at the bar and had a few martinis (cosmos or appletinis) each. We inquired about the apps and for some reason they weren't serving them last night, but then our lovely bartender made a call and lo and behold, crab cakes were out in the next 15 minutes. They were delicious!

(Note: Wednesday is Wine Tasting Wednesdays - Free wine and fruit/cheese platters from 5-7)

We split the porterhouse for two (although we were three, and it was plenty), had the green bean, asparagus and tomato salad, per our waiter's recommendation, and finished with the tiramisu and Mississippi mud pie. It was all outstanding. The decor was nice, the service was spot-on, the beginning drinks were free and the food was delicious. Can't ask for more!

Fabulous for lunch or dinner – Definitely can't understand the couple few who had a negative experience eating at Uncle Jack's Steakhouse in midtown (unclejacks, com). I eat there all the time for many of the reasons people who enjoyed their experience talked about. Uncle Jack's is definitely first class all the way. From the time you walk through the door to the time you leave, I genuinely feel that the wait staff does there best to give you the ultimate high-end steakhouse experience. Whether for lunch or dinner, you can definitely meet your budget, especially if you stick to prix fix ($40 can nab you beautiful filet mignon as part of your four course meal) or go on Tuesdays for half priced wine (off a list with over 100 wines at priced to suit any and all comers). All in all Uncle Jack's is just as delicious and enjoyable a dining experience as some of the other big name steak joints in NYC, difference is Uncle Jack's caters to a lower budget. All while treating you with the same respect and attention. Often busy though, I would definitely recommend a reservation, especially for dinner!

Bring your appetite! – My husband and I stopped in for a quick bite for lunch. We both purchased a lunch special and got portions that certainly filled us. I've never eaten a burger that big and delicious before.

The best! – The Uncle Jack's Steakhouse on West 56th Street is in a great location--by midtown, Broadway, Rockefeller Centre. But even when I'm not in the neighborhood, I keep coming back. Usually we order the Porterhouse, which is rich and red on the inside and nicely crisped on the outside. However, I recently branched out and tried their Kobe beef, and was very impressed (personally, I'm a little confused by the nay-sayers). The wine list is extensive, an in addition to the prime cuts of meat they offer seafood and salads--a quality not often found in steakhouses. The service is enthusiastic and impeccable--they make sure that every meal is a successful one.

Not what I expected, in a bad way. – Describe Uncle Jack's 56th Street location in one word? Disappointing. The place came recommended by a friend, along with a gift card. The best part of our meal was the sweet potato fries. For a $260 meal I expect more than good fries. The wait staff was professional and cordial, our cocktails well-made, the decor on par for a Manhattan steakhouse. But it was the food, especially the Kobe steak, that was such a disappointment. The Kobe Recession special for two the waiter praised was no longer available. (8pm and you're out of the special? Weak.) We got the Kobe ribeye instead. This wasn't the marbleized, flavorful beef I expected; this was plain, old fatty beef. The portion didn't look like 20 oz. but it didn't really matter because half of it stayed on the side of my plate as grizzle or fat anyway. I've had better steak on my outdoor grill. The tuna tar-tar app tasted OK but looked like sashimi scraps pressed into a mold and served on a plate. Baked clams were good but some were too small to be hanging out on a plate with other, normal sized clams. Wouldn't go back. Wouldn't recommend to a friend.

Pretty Good – My wife and I took our mothers here for Christmas dinner. The service staff was friendly and prompt ever though they were extremely busy. We have eaten a upper scale steakhouses throughout the USA and Uncle Jacks rates up there with the usual ones, ie Ruth's Chris, Morton's, The Palm etc..., the filets were good, mashed sweet potatoes fantastic and the prime rib chop ok. I wouldnt exactly go out of my way to get here to eat over other steakhouses but wouldnt run from it either.
