Pier 36 Seafood & Oyster Bar – Restaurant in Stafford used to be my favorite place for gumbo. Took my husband there for his recent birthday--we won't be going back. I much prefer the gumbo and other seafood items at Pier 36---I've never had bad service or bad food. Pier 36 is convenient to our house and it's a more pleasant dining experience.
Don't listen to the negative reviews from years ago! – I have no idea why there are all these horrible reviews. I must say I was extremely hesitant to try it out after reading the horrible things, but because we were told to give it a try by a family friend we gave it a go. The only thing I will agree with is that if you go on the weekends expect to wait, and there is not too many places to sit when you are waiting. We were sat quicker than our expected wait time, which is always great. After eating our first round of crawfish (which I will get to) the place cleared out, this would be around 8pm. Our service was pretty good, but not exceptional at first because it was so busy. Now on to the food! The crawfish bisque was so flavorful and packed full of crawfish. The crab cakes are served in a white wine cream sauce that is to die for. My husband had a dozen oysters on the half shell and he loved them and was surprised that they were not gritty like another sea food place in sugar land. The crawfish was something that my husband and our friends talked about all night. They were so amazingly delicious. I was expecting typical seafood restaurant quality. We expected them to be seasoned but nothing over the top. Boy were we wrong! They had the most wonderful garlic, butter, lemony flavor. I don’t really know how to describe it but they were to die for! We will be coming back to try other items on the menu and of course to eat their yummy crawfish!
And the review below about like baytown seafood better is hysterical. Baytown seafood is garbage and everything is fried and store bought!
Don't waste your Money!!! – My husband and I wanted to try something new. We usually go to Baytown Seafood and will from now on. Pier 36 was horrible. We ordered calamari, shrimp gumbo, crawfish combination and fried oysters. The calamari was overcooked. Shrimp gumbo tasted horrible chewy shrimp and the rough was like ettoufee. The crawfish ettoufee was over cooked burnt and literally tasted like it had dirt in in. The fried oyster's had fish bones and pieces that were hard as rocks. Chipped my husband's tooth. Save your money!!
Excellent Seafood – The great thing about this establishment is the family atmosphere and friendly people. We enjoy gong there once a week for their great seafood gumbo. I highly recommend Pier 36.
not so good – Went there for dinner. Had a 10 minute wait when there were tables open. The crab cakes were good but they put jalapenos in them. The grilled shrimp was good, the fish was so-so. They also put jalapeno in the rice pilaf. Portions were small for the price. Wait staff was good. Won't be going back.
Great restaurant for the Richmond / Rosenberg area – Wonderfull family feeling - so bring the kids but be warned there is no sand box. Ha!
My gumbo and fried shrimp were delicious. Lunch menu pricing is typical for the area, so its not expensive. Easy parking!!
