Cozy – The food is pretty good but what I love most about Green is the atmosphere. The garden in the front, and the old building look inside is awesome. I don't feel like I'm in San Antonio when I sit down to enjoy a delicious veggie burger.

Give's vegetarian food a bad name. – I've been to Green three or four times and I've received the same sad food every time. There is no love in their food. I'm sure the chicken fried wheat meat is pre-made and pre-breaded. Even the mashed potatoes could use some basic salt and pepper. My boyfriend and I also received the overpriced spoonful of hummus with vegetables served on a buffet salad plate. There was only one slice of zucchini in the mix. Vegetarian food can be so much more with some handmade dishes and some herbs and marinades. Service was also lacking. The building and location are nice.

Brave Little Restaurant – Gotta give them some credit, it takes b**ls to open a vegetarian restaurant in a town like San Antonio. If ever there was a home of the Whopper, SA is it. People who give a thought to what they put in their bodies are lucky to have a place like this.

You've been to a typical, American-style family restaurant or diner, right? Basically, this is just a vegetarian version. Good mashed potatoes, nice soups and chilis, sandwiches, and so on--just not meat. Nice breakfast spread.

Great food...bad service – The food is good, but the service is somewhat lacking. While we had no issues with our waiter who provided excellent service, the other employees were rude and look down on you if you are new to eating veg food. Be careful who you ask questions to if you don't like being talked down to.

Delish! So many options I have to go back! – I have been to green about 4 times and have been pleased at each visit. My husband and I only eat out about two meals per week. I cook at home often so I dont mind having a fried entree when I go out.

The chicken fried wheat meat, mashed potatoes, sweet potato fries (well done), refried beans, zucchini enchiladas, brown rice, taco salad, neat loaf and pop corn tofu poboy are all great!

The place is eclectic with staff who are well versed on the menu and vegetarianism.

Green does not claim to be a health oriented eatery, but they have offered healthier options lately. The hummus platter, sweet apple salad, raw wrap and more can be ordered if you choose.

The price is right too.

Best place for Veg*ns! – This place is awesome. The food is always really fresh and delicious (if you're used to vegetarian foods like meat replacements), and the place has a really cool atmosphere. The people are super nice and very helpful. Also, I LOVE how they support the environment by reusing rainwater, buying fair trade/ organic stuff, and biodegradeable packaging!!

I highly recommend this restaurant, especially if you're vegetarian and/or care about the environment.

my favorite vegetarian restaurant in all of san antonio AND austin – Wow, I can't believe the other 2 negative reviews posted here thus far. One was clearly written by a non-vegetarian so I'll dismiss that one and the other I will chalk off to the idea that you can't please everyone and usually the people who take the time to leave reviews about places are the ones who are clearly upset or dissatisfied for whatever reason. I live in Austin but San Antonio is my hometown and I still visit quite a bit and I have been vegetarian for about 6 years now and I eat out VERY often in both cities, so I feel I am qualified to review vegetarian places.

I have been to Green about 6 times now, for various meals, and I have never had a bad meal or experience. All of my vegetarian friends (and even some non-veggie ones) love Green as well, and have never had anything negative to say about it.

It is true that Green has alot of meals comprised of meat substitutes, but I feel that's the beauty of Green. The menu is mainly comprised of vegetarian COMFORT food -- veggie wings, veggie "chicken" fried steak, etc. But, you can also find standard healthy vegetarian options like salads, black bean burgers, etc. So the way I see it, you get the best of both worlds.

I can't think of any other vegetarian restaurant in SA or Austin that has a menu like Green. San Antonians, you should consider yourselves lucky. I am jealous that you have such a treasure like Green in your city!

Sure, Austin has many vegetarian and veggie-friendly restaurants, but none have a menu like Green. (And I am not counting Nu Age Cafe in Austin because that place is overpriced and awful.) My favorite vegetarian restaurant in Austin used to be West Lynn Cafe, but ever since it closed, I was not really excited about any other veggie restaurants until I discovered Green. Not only is it healthy vegetarian food, it is also eco-friendly.

Anyway, I encourage people to try it and if you like it, support it!!!

expensive and gross – I went to green with a vegetarian friend of mine. I was really hungry so everything sounded good. I was excited because on the resturants website there were great reviews. these reviews must have been written by the owners because they did not deliver. We shared a veggie plate with raw hummus, it was a horrible presentation and way overpriced. They just threw some sliced raw veggies on a plate practically threw it on the table when it was delivered. Not impressed. Then I got a salad to start, just what u expect from a salad, nothing more nothing less. My friend got the popcorn tofu sandwich, she didn't have much to say about it. The only thing we both liked were the sweet potato fries even though they looked like they were scraped from the bottom of the batch. I had the sesame chicken which said it was tossed in sauce, when it arrived it looked alright but there was definatley no tossing. If there was anything that could save this dish it would have been the sauce. Too bad the sauce was mediocre. I could have done a better job at home. The "chicken" is actually made from "wheat meat", which half way through, sorta got limp and turned greyish. Totally made me loose my appitite. If I were a vegetarian for real, this place would have made me have a serious change of heart. I was craving a burger after all of that. At least I can say I tried, I just wish green would try too!

If you like anything fried....This is the place!!! – For being the only truely vegetarian restaurant in San Antonio, I expected a variety of healthy options. I am not a vegetarian and expected to find some foods that were truely vegetarian and tasty. Instead, they offer meatless burgers, philly cheesesteak and a variety of want to be meat products that are absolutely awful. Not only this, but just about every side that they offer is fried. Not what you would expect from the supposedly health concious vegetarians. I WILL NEVER EAT HERE AGAIN!!
