RUN AWAY !! – My wife and I decided to try Jared and experienced a web of deceit before we even came close to making a purchase (Thank God). We started by calling and asking if they had a particular ring at the store we could look at in different sizes. We were told they did not have the exact ring(s)but a smaller version and if we wanted to drive out they would be happy to have us fill out some paperwork so they could order the ring(s) from the manufacturer and we could come back in a week or so to view them. So, we drove out and after being hit up to start an account with them, filled out paperwork that could have easily been done over the phone. But a few days later, I found out why they did not do it over the phone. we were then called and told that they could order the ring(s) but we would have to put 20% down on each ring we wished to view. ($1,700) First off, if they happen to file chapter 11, I can kiss my "viewing" deposit down the drain. Secondly, I was already NOT told about this 20% on the first phone conversation but rather made it sound rather simple to get me to drive to them to fill out their paperwork, get hit up for a line of credit and then not told again about the 20%. I could already see the next step if I had actually put the 20% down and by chance did not choose to buy one of the rings I wanted to view. You guessed it, in our new Jared account to be used to purchase something else from them. In short, found a jewler who only charged $100 to view the exact same rings from the exact same manufacturer. Saved $1700 and sleep easy at night. I strongly recommend looking for another jewelry company !!

Always a great experience – Some friends got their wedding rings at Jared and told us about it. They had a budget for their rings as did we. They got exactly what they wanted at the price they wanted and said they were treated great.

So, we took our small budget, dressed down on purpose (my husband wore old shorts and t-shirt and I wore jeans, a tee and hadn't done my hair or makeup) to see how we'd be treated and what they had to offer. We decided that if they were snooty and prejudged us, we'd walk out the door and go elsewhere.

The minute we walked in the door, we were warmly greeted and served. They listened to our needs and didn't judge when I went to the cocktail ring section instead of expensive wedding diamonds for my wedding ring. We got more than we expected to get and had a great time, and the ring I got is totally unique and just what I wanted.

We've been back several times since our wedding and purchased items for anniversaries and birthdays and have had a wonderful experience each time. And the quality has been great.

The only negative is that I was talked into buying an expensive ultrasonic jewelry cleaning machine but it doesn't work at all and was a waste of money. I waited too long to try it and it was too late to return it.

"He Got It At Jared" ?? I Hope Not! – I got a $100 necklace from this Jared for X-mas 2007. I wore it happily until the chain broke (my fault) and one of the stones fell out (NOT my fault--but at least I still had the stone). I took it to Jared to get these two items taken care of and they wanted to charge me about $73 to fix it. I told them that was RIDICULOUS since the necklace only COST $100. So, I took it somewhere else, and got it fixed at a much better price ($40). (I have to add the repair guy's comment here: he said that the necklace was "made very quickly" {read: poor quality, shoddy workmanship}, and he was certain his replaced stone would not fall out, but he couldn't say much for the others.)

After wearing the necklace for about a week, I notice today that ANOTHER STONE HAD FALLEN OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But, this time, I don't HAVE the stone to be reset! So, I just spent $40 to fix a $100 necklace (for sentimental reasons, of course) and now I have to spend another God-knows-how-much to BUY a new stone and have it set?????????

I CALLED the customer service number to see what they had to say. I told her the whole story ? even the part about getting my first repair elsewhere. She told to me my (nonexistent, never purchased) warranty was now VOID. She also clearly stated "There is Nothing We Can Do For You." Great, thanks for the CUSTOMER SERVICE, lady!

I told her that was just fine. I would tell everyone I know about their JUNKY product and also I intend to waltz into that store and express my distaste to the staff?s faces and anyone else who could hear. She told me if I went in there and talked to any of the customers that they would "call the police and have me escorted out." Yes, she's threatening to call the police on me OVER A 1-800 CUSTOMER SERVICE LINE.

Do NOT shop at Jared. Tell all your friends not to shop at Jared. And, Ladies, if you do get that text message from your BFF that simply states "He went to Jared", I suggest you reply: "Hope he got the warranty."

Poor Customer Service – I went to Jared on William Cannon looking to buy an engagement ring. Like most guy's in this situation I was a bit nervous and very inexperienced so the last thing I need is a snobby sales person. I don't remember the guys name but I can say he was a middle aged guy probably in his mid forties with light brown hair. I can also say that I was there mid week at about noon. So I start to tell him what I'm looking for and he starts showing me some diamonds. Then I tell him I have a budget and that I wanted to spend around $1200. He immediately starts to cough and says he needs to got to the back and take something for his "allergies" and asks another sales person to take over. He was back on the sales floor talking to someone else literally within two minutes. Given the demeanor of both sales people I was clearly not good enough to buy an engagement ring form my fiance from this sales person. Not everyone can afford the $10,000 engagement ring. Most of us have a budget and it doesn't mean we think any less of the person we are buying for. I hope that this is not a standard policy at Jared's.
