Thai Me Up - No Please Don't – So I checked out Thai Me Up while waiting for my next movie. I had not had a Tahiti meal in a couple if weeks. It was a late afternoon in a Monday so I did not have to contend with a crowd.

I said hello in Thai and bowed in a traditional Thai fashion. The cook had no idea as to what I was doing. I order what i considered as a safe meal, Pad Thai with Chicken and some sweet Thai Tea. The order came up to $11. So much for cheap.

The order was ready nice and hot in about 5 minutes. The guy called me up for the pick up and I was smiling ear to ear, Pad Thai with Chicken.

I get to my table which is rock solid, the stools are a bit hard to sit on, heck it reminded me of a resturant in Bangkok.

Sat with my meal and took a bite, blah. No taste what so ever in the noodles. I must say the chicken was done pretty well. Thank goodness there was some Chinese hot sauce nearby. It added the flavor I needed.

Now I know you may be saying what the heck ddo I know about Thai food. I'd say a little bit. I've been to Thailand a half dozen times, my ex-wife and some good friends are from there as well. I think my buds know good Thai food. This Resturant does not rate up there with a few really good ones I know.

But if you are in a jam, need your Thai food fix in and have $11 bucks to spare for a small portion, try them out. It may be for you.

Good and cheap – I enjoyed the food at this small take out resturant. Portions are big and filling. I had the sandwich with coconut ginger sauce. The food was very tasty and girl at the counter was very sweet and helpful. One negative the manager/owner was quite disrespectful and a bit of an ass. Otherwise a nice place.

Great inexpensive find! – This is a nice tiny place to check out if you?re in the mood for something a little different (Thai sandwiches). The chicken teriyaki sandwich was scrumptious. The shrimp dumplings in spicy peanut sauce were yummy too! Note there?s a little cilantro in the dumpling fillings, which I normally can?t stand, but the small amount didn?t surprisingly bother me, it was quite nice. The spicy tomato rice soup was good, not great. FYI they didn?t have regular milk & sugar for the coffee, just condensed milk, but that was a sweet change of pace. The employees were very nice. The worst part was probably the wobbly tables?some were less wobbly than others?

Great for lunch – I work very close to Thai Me Up and am so happy that I stumbled on it during one of my lunchtime walks. I love Vietnamese sandwiches and Thai food, so the prospect of having a "Thai sandwich" was intriguing. I became a fan of this place after my first sandwich - the chicken with "black pearl" sauce. This sandwich is equally good with tofu substituting for the chicken. The "white ginger" sauce is also good. I haven't tried their "pine grand" sauce yet because it sounds way too sweet for my taste. I taste no difference between the white and whole wheat baguette, so I opt for the whole wheat one by healthier (hopefully) default. The sandwiches are also very sizeable and can probably be shared between two people. I see just as many people ordering the pad-Thai noodle versions of the sandwiches and the salads, so they must be good; I just like the sandwich concept better. My only criticism is that the sandwiches are a little messy because of the sauce and the liquid produced by the ingredients during cooking. I have made this place my default lunch option for times when I don't bring my lunch to work, or don't know where else to go.

New York, meet Thailand's equivalent of the banh mi, courtesy of this East Village sandwich shop. – In Short
Though the Vietnamese banh mi sandwich gets a ton of press, one rarely hears about the Thai equivalent. But this tiny sliver of a shop aims to change that. Served on a baguette, the oversized, foil-wrapped 'wiches come with chicken, beef, veggies or tofu and topped with one of three sauces: soy barbecue, ginger curry and a fruity pineapple option. The same ingredients are also served as noodle bowls, and other lunch-friendly choices include salads and, for dessert, rice pudding.

Delicious! Healthy! Fresh! Quick! – Yum, yum, yum. This place is a GEM! Lots of fresh veggies and the option of tofu, chicken,or beef. Delicious sandwiches, excellent noodle bowls, and wonderful salads. It's a place for a quick bite that never feels rushed. The owner is friendly and charming, the music is awesome.

I love this place!! My favorite is the white ginger noodle bowl with tofu.
