My tip: Don't hire or talk to any of the personal trainers. The gym is fine, people are neutral and the equipment is good, but the trainers... They are college grads who got their experience by taking test and not actually lifting weights. They are a waste of your money I promise.

Terrible customer service. Was late on first payment in 4 years and they refused me entry into the gym. I came back on Saturday (I work a 9-5 and commute a half hour each way) to cancel my membership and was told they don't do cancellations on the weekend. Nowhere on their website does it say that. I finally got through the incredibly rude people working the front desk and spoke to an assistant manager who got all of the paperwork ready for Monday. Still, what a hassle! I can see why everyone hates them!

DO NOT SIGN A CONTRACT HERE!!! Absolutely everything that was explained to me verbally was 100% INCORRECT. I signed up for a personal trainer (I spoke with Hector), they said once a week, twice a week and once a week for $128/month. I said OK that sounds reasonable but what if I want to cancel. Well I had to pay $300 up front to start services (for the first and last month). Ok fine. Then if I wanted to cancel I only need to give them 30 days notice because it was a MONTH TO MONTH contract. So I signed the contract, paid the $300 and did a session. I got home and read over the contract. Turns out I was paying for only THREE TIMES PER MONTH. For $120, you're out of your mind. So I call to cancel, they said ok. One month later they pull another $128 out of my bank account so I call in and they say I never called and they can't cancel it now without another $250 or if I move, have a medical excuse or DIE??!! Excuse me NONE of those are options. I only used 3 sessions and you want me to pay $678!!! THAT IS NOT OK!!

dont go ua planet fitness offering only 10$ a month – ALL ANYONE HERE CARES ABOUT IS GETTING MORE MEMBERS PERIOD.I have been going to hillard scince they have opened nearly five years ago and I can say at first it was nice. But now lets talk a true walk through.Getting evan into the parking lot is a challange at the three way stop in front no one seems to know how to follow a three way stop.Getting checked in sometimes takes a while and would be nice if they had automated doors becuase no one seems to know to use the right door.Opens at 5 but most days lucky to have someone there to open on time.Walking through every one to get to the locker room is at times unbearable expicillly on mondays trainers and members alaways blocking the entrance not to mention the machines people moving to not have a walkway.Or that most the fire exits are blocked with equipment in front of the door. Now once into the locker room make sure you dont have heart mumers from people slaming the locker doors literily as hard as they can.WHatever did the lockers do to you to desearve this abuse? While using equipment you will be hard pressed to find a bike that doesent have a bent crank,an oliptical that doesent make noise or feels one side is higher than the other,or other various noise-hard spots in moving machines. If you happen to go into the cardio cinima be aware it is either 55 or 85 degres nothing in between Im not shure who or what controls this. There is a homeless man that basically lives in the lounge in the locker room if he happens to not be there it will be overrun by anoying kids that run through the locker room and showers cussing and yelling.Lets see oh yea nothing gets fixed like ie .. the pool that has been inoperative for three months now.Very low water pressure on the sink fausets and water fountains that have handles broken off them.Typical naked guys in the locker room but also feeling free to brush thier teeth and shave and try to talk to you ...yea relly.Guys rudly on the cell phone yelling at thier gilrfreinds.Caustic cleaning products used mixing bleach and amonia together yes this is a big health hazard but they think its ok I geuss.o and if you are racist (wich im not) but the gym is being overrun by mexicans

Watch OUT!!!! Do not Get membership – These people are a billing nightmare. they will bill under three different names to get your money. They will take money out of your account multiple times and when you call to ask what it is they say this kinda fee, call back 20 minutes later and they will tell you something different. going back over bank records today i found out in the past year they have billed my account multiple times during a month on more than one occasion and under different names. do not go direct billing with these people or they will take all they can get . after calling on Monday they took another amount out on tuesday. You can not get a straight answer, when ask for account manager they are not in when ask for gym manager they are gone ask for corporate and they will tell you to call the 1-800 number which directs you back to the same place you just called. It has been a nightmare....

BEWARE of signing a contract – BEWARE! I agree with the other reviews that Urban Active is "deceptive," 'shady," "under-handed" and they find strict excuses to not let you out of their contract. And I've seen another posting that they have pushy/high pressured sales which I'd also agree with.

I signed a membership on month to month & explained that I didn't want a contract as I didn't know how long I'd be in Columbus. I then met with the training department - I again explained I didn't want a contract. Training said if I submitted a piece of MAIL with an out of area mailing address I could cancel the contract. Based upon this, I agreed to sign a contract.

Well, about seven months later I told the same person I'd signed my training contract with that I was leaving for the winter and needed to cancel the contract. I provided a piece of mail with an out of state address. He processed my cancellation and assured me there wouldn't be any problem.

This wasn't the case. About two months later I'm contacted by UA's billing company - that I didn't show proof of relocation. I disputed. I contacted UA and again provided a different mailing with the same out of state address.

UA changed the reason my cancel wasn't accepted to me allegedly being in the negative balance on my training sessions. I again disputed this.

Then UA changed it again - back to I didn't show proof of relocation but at this time they set further restrictions on what documents are acceptable in order to cancel due to relocation to include a lease, utility bill or letter from my employer. This isn't what was communicated to me before I signed my contract and I've shared this with UA and that I signed the contract based upon being able to submit mail with an out of area address. I wouldn't have signed a contract based upon these cancelaton terms as I'm aware I likely wouldn't have been able to provide these restrictive items.

I don't even have any of these for Columbus as I don't have a lease or utility bill there either. I travel for work and I often relocate temporarily on my own too.

Meanwhile UA has continued to bill me over $100 a month for my training - I don't even have a membership there to use training sessions. And their training prices are HIGH.

Also, I read another review that there's a way to early cancel a contract if you pay a fee - no surprise that UA hasn't offered me this option either.

I won't give them access to my bank account again.

Despite its Hollywood connections, this franchise's focus is on pumping iron, not newfangled razzle-dazzle. – In Short
The Terminator and the Incredible Hulk (aka Arnold Schwarzenegger and Lou Ferrigno) lifted weights at the gym's Venice, California, flagship years ago, but even today, customers frequenting charter locations are bound to encounter serious muscle. Take note: The boys with bulging biceps are the mascots, not the majority. Gold's generally offers Spinning, aerobics and kickboxing classes, yet weight-training remains the core of the program. Dumbbells and barbells, not spa-like amenities, are the attractions that draw the beef-heads in droves.
