A Disappointment – the rooms were overpriced for the area but we thought that the prices would be reflected in the amentities & service - this was not the case: uncomfortable bed, walls & floors were thin, aircon was loud so we had to sleep w/ earplugs, no lock on the door, breakfast was repetitive/very minimal, no cell phone service, never told about available wirelss access.

our first night we had a mosquito infestation. they were probably getting into the room because the window aircon had not been sealed. we stuffed towels in the gaps. we could tell we were not the first guests to have this problem because there were dead mosquitos on the walls & ceilings already. we woke up sweating in the middle of the night because the aircon had seized up & ended up killing more mosquitos.

the next morning we spoke to a woman & she said that mosquito problem would be taken care of when our room was cleaned during the day. when we returned the aircon had not been sealed. we called the "frontdesk" & spoke with Peter who said he would take care of it. when we returned from dinner the aircon was working properly & had been sealed but we still ended up killing several mosquitos that night and in the morning my husband woke up with bites on this face and i woke up with bites on my legs.

at breakfast, the woman asked if the problem had been fixed & i said that it was better but my husband still woke up with bites on his face. when it came time to pay for our stay there was no effort to offer us a discount considering what we had suffered. this & the fact that they charge an automatic 10% service charge shows that the Inn is more about making money than customer service.

you can stay at B&Bs for 50% less & get gourmet breakfasts, comfortable beds, great customer service, complimentary bottled water, afternoon cookies/tea, magazines/local restaurant menus, fresh flowers, etc., so why you would stay at the Old Inn on the Green which has none of these?

Colonial-era buildings in a rural section of the Berkshires. – The Scene
Surrounded by rolling fields and meadows, this property is made up of the five-room Thayer House and six-room Old Inn. Set on the village green, both buildings date back to the 1700s.

The Details
Located upstairs from the restaurant, Thayer House accommodations feature fireplaces for cold winter days and air-conditioning for warmer months, while the converted barns showcase Oriental rugs and other intricate details. Thayer House also has an outdoor swimming pool. The celebrated restaurant features a range of cuisine served in several dining rooms with furnishings such as chandeliers and mahogany tables. In the summer months, guests spend time lingering in the beautiful outdoor spaces and enjoy dining outside on the garden terrace.
