This is for the Outpatient Surgery Center at Printers Park.
When a patient goes in for surgery the place they go to should be comfortable and relaxing. Memorial's Outpatient surgery at Printers Park is anything but relaxing and comfortable. The place reminds me of a surgery factory. You go in and sit in a chair until your surgery. There are no televisions or private cubicles-Memorial Central and North both have private cubicles and a television in each. You are made to wait for at least an hour and a half with nothing to take your mind off the impending surgery. The staff is nice but it took my nurse several tries to get an IV started and she even was digging around at one site which was very painful. Very cold and impersonal surgical center. It's too bad they have spent millions in upgrades at their two hospitals and buying equipment yet have done nothing to improve the patient experience at their outpatient surgery center at Printers park
I have had the pleasure of meeting a wonderful medical staff while undergoing breast cancer treatment. Dr. Sharon, Drs. Oatis and Ridings, PT and all of their staff at Memorial North and Memorial South Cancer Treatment Center have been a blessing.
If you are taking the drug Femara for breast cancer, a helpful hint for joint pain is to take Glucosamine/Chondroitin MSM (my personal exp). It helps and if you are in Colo Springs, go to Maximum Sports Nutrition for the licquid form
Best Hospital Staff I've Ever Seen! – On February 21st, 2012 I had to have a hysterectomy at the age of 29. I was pretty scared when I got to the hospital, pending surgery and all, and without the excellent hospital staff my stay would've been terrible.
I had my surgery, stayed the night on med surg floor 4, and left the next morning. The staff (especially the night med techs) made me feel so at home with good humor and conversation. They really made me feel like I was the only patient in the whole hospital.
A week later I had returned to the hospital with a couple of abcesses that had formed. I was placed on med surg floor 3, and happened to have one of the same techs I had the prior week. I was so excited to see her again. I was in horrible pain, and was sick as a dog, b ut my spirits were always good because of them. They were all so patient and kind and genuinly caring. It was clean and a beautiful hospital. My only complaint was the food, but hey, it's still a hospital, right?
Hopefully I'll never have to have surgety again, but I f I do, that's the only hospital I will ever go to. They were absolutely amazing!
Horrible treatment by the staff... – I had my second baby at Memorial North (my first was at Penrose on Academy). I thought, new hospital, we'll give it a try.
It was a horrible experience. I did have an awesome OB/GYN (Dr. J. Baer) though.
I had a c-section and I while my baby was in my room, I could not get up and change him or pick him up by myself. The nurse would NOT come in to help at all.
They often forgot my pain medication, I waited for two hours crying, I called them and they refused to come in. Once they finally showed up, I got an "oh, sorry, I forgot."
It was also extremely noisy. The mother in the next room to me, had relatives over and were partying very loud at 10-11 pm and NO ONE said anything to them. All I wanted to do was sleep, I was exhausted, and when we asked the nurses to speak to them, we were ignored. My husband had to knock on their door to ask them to be quiet.
After my son was born, once I got his birth certificate, I noticed the time of birth was incorrect (he was born in the a.m. the certificate showed p.m.). When I brought this to the hospital's attention I was told that it was my fault, because I did not verify the information they entered into the computer. It was their job to properly fill out the information in the first place.
I will NEVER EVER go back to Memorial. I am closest to Memorial North, but I am willing to drive farther to get to Penrose than deal with Memorial North.
