CONSIGNER BEWARE: I am very unhappy with Consigning Design's new management rules for being reimbursed for consigned clothing sales. First of all, you have only two months for your clothes to sell. They don't correspond to let you know when the time is up. They do have a website to keep up with your sales, but if you miss the deadline, they keep the items for their own profit. Secondly, you have to wait until the total amount reaches $25 before being reimbursed. Thirdly, they will not pay cash, only a check, so they claim they have to wait a full month later to send a check.
Example: I brought 13 items in November 12, 2013. My contract ends January 12, 2014. 4 items sold between 11/15 and 1/5. Only until the 1/5 sale did the amount reach over $25, so according to the employee I just talked to, I have to wait until 2/15 before they will cut me a check....even though I am picking up the rest of my items tomorrow. This is wrong....a check should be cut to me on 1/15.
By the way, this employee was not concerned or helpful, in fact, I told her due to all of this I will never shop there again or bring in my items for consignment. She didn't care. I have consigned with them for 4 years, and shopped there as well. I have brought friends there too, but no more.
If you want to consign with them, be very aware their new rules are geared for them to make as much profit off your money as they can by keeping it as long as they can. Waiting for my money an extra month reeks of dishonesty.
Very slow to pay – Took almost 2 months for me to be paid for my items. Many phone calls and excuses later, the owner guaranteed that the following month would be different.....and it wasn't. Had to call again...and this time they didn't even dream up an excuse why I wasn't paid. I would not recommend using this business.
Dishonest Owner! – During the period when I was pick up my unsold items, only the cheapest item could be located. After I created a fuss in the store, the owner had miraculously "found" them by the first thing the next morning. When I was in the store, I noticed that many (if not most) of their items were dated so old that the owner had lost rights to them. It made me wonder how many were "misplaced" when the owner tried to pick them up or if they have a tendency to pull items to the back until they become legally theirs, so they can then put them out and keep all the profit themselves....
Also, payment checks were sent out several weeks later than stated, and when it was 2 weeks past due, I asked when I should be receiving mine, I was told that I was being difficult and that they had other customers other than just myself.
