I just "graduated" from this practice today and will be moving on to a regular OB. I am so sad to leave, because I have never received such excellence in medical care as I did at Carolina Conceptions. Everyone I dealt with at the front desk was warm, encouraging, and all around thrilled for us when I became pregnant. All the nurses were helpful and knowledgeable about every part of the process. The financial department is great as well. Dr. Meyer was my primary Dr. and he was wonderful. He moved fast to get me pregnant. He personally called and emailed me various times during the process and he was always reachable immediately. I saw Dr. Park and Dr. Couchman for various procedures and they are also awesome. We did IVF with embryo biopsy and got pregnant on the first attempt. Highly recommend this practice!
They really do make dreams come true! The minute we walked in the front door of Carolina Conceptions, I knew we had picked the right place. As time went on, our experience only solidified that. Starting with the front desk staff, everyone shows great compassion, always has a smile and truly are their patients' biggest cheerleaders. Our main doctor was Dr. Park and I cannot praise him enough for his thoroughness and knowledge. He always spoke his opinion and was honest with us, but also was aware of our wishes and listened. Infertility is not an easy journey and having a doctor that truly seemed to care and understand made all of the difference. I am happy to say we are now pregnant, entering into our second trimester, officially 'graduated' from Carolina Conceptions and so, so happy! Some special appreciation to Steven at the front desk, Megan in finance, Michele in IVF, Thanks to Dr. Park for checking in at times just to see if we were doing okay and to see if we had any questions and for sucessfully performing two surgeries on me to remove uterine polyps. Thanks to Dr Meyer for re-opening the office back up after they had closed on New Year's Eve to give me an ultrasound when I showed up 9 weeks pregnant and scared after having some unexplained symptoms. That's dedication to the job!
You walk in as a patient but you leave as part of the family. This staff remembers you, knows your name and you matter to them! I know this is true because I've actually bumped into Dr. Park around town and he knew my name - first and last, and knew exactly how far along in my pregnancy I was!
My husband and I are the proud parents of a two year old girl thanks to Carolina Conceptions. I started the fertility process with my OBGYN, and I have to say, it wasn't until I was seen at Carolina Conceptions that I really felt like I was in knowledgeable hands. I appreciated the fact that all of the providers (Drs. Meyer, Park, and Couchman) as well as the nursing staff were able to balance efficiency with compassion. I was really impressed by how organized Carolina Conceptions was in terms of my care and scheduling and billing. I did not have one hiccup in the process. The one thing that really stood out to me was how ACCESSIBLE the doctors at Carolina Conceptions are. Not many providers are willing to communicate via email (for lots of reasons) and this made it so easy to have questions answered. I wound up referring a few friends to Carolina Conceptions, and in particular, to Dr. Park, and he even answered one of my friends' emails while on vacation! When I had appointments, I often heard the staff bragging about Dr. Park in terms of how he handled his patients, one staff member told me that if she was having fertility problems, she would see him. I mainly saw Dr. Couchman during my treatment at Carolina Conceptions, but Dr. Meyer performed my egg retrieval and I saw him a few times for appointments as well.
I have to say how very disappointed I am in the services I have received so far. I was referred to Carolina Conceptions by my Ob/Gyn since I was having trouble getting pregnant with my 2nd child and I was suffering from severe pelvic pain. My first visit was with Dr. John Park in which I told my whole medical history. He showed no empathy and immediately suggested I have and HSG and then surgery. Of course this was scary to me and I had a lot of questions. It was thought that I probably have endometriosis. At first I wasn't sure about the laparoscopy but after some thought and discussion with family (who is also I the medical field), I thought this was my course of action, especially if I wanted to reduce my pan and get pregnant. Still feeling like I didn't receive all the education I needed or the feeling that Dr. park wasn't really looking at my other conditions (I have Hashimotos disease), I did some research via the Internet. I felt more informed this way, than being informed by Dr. Park. I the had to speak to the Financial coordinator who was a total flake. She informed me that I will have to pay about $1000 for my laparoscopy. She also was trying to educate me on deductibles that I have to meet. however, I have a insurance plan that doesn't have deductibles. When I heard this, I was taken back. Of course because of the cost but also because I felt this was wrong. At this point I just wanted to leave. As soon as I got home, I called my insurance company and they advised me that the financial coordinator is wrong and all I would need to pay is $40. What an idiot! I then had an HSG scheduled in which they did find abnormalities (scar tissue and a blocked tube). At this point, we all knew I had to go in for the surgery. My hope is to reduce the pain I have been living with, which could also be causing fertility issues. I had it scheduled and then went in for m preop, after I had explained to him that I have still been in horrible pain and had asked for more education on the procedure and what I should expect afterwards(like how soon I can try to get pregnant), he told me that he didn't feel comfortable doing the surgery anymore and that it is probably all in my head. I was enraged! I had already made plans for my mother to come visit and care for me and my son while I was recovering - she is traveling from Boston. Instead he said that he wants me to see someone else at the UNC department of OB/GYN pelvic specialists, in which they do not have appointments until 2 mos out. Really! There was no help to try to get me an early appt and he basically just passed the buck. After all this, I reached out to another Fertility clinic, UNC Fertility with assistance of a referral I received from a family member. When I spoke to them, they got me an appt within a weeks time. What a difference. And then I also told them what had happened with Dr. John Park at Carolina Conceptions. She actually told me that they frequently get patients from their who have said how insensitive Dr. park is and that Carolina Conceptions is just looking to put you on fertility drugs and make money. They have no consideration for the feelings and emotions of what these women are going through and never take the time to get the full medical history of you. I suggest finding someone other than Carolina Conceptions and actually going to UNC Fertility. I will never step foot in CC again!
We are so thankful for the wonderful doctors and staff at Carolina Conceptions. After researching and interviewing numerous fertility clinics, my partner and I knew that Carolina Conceptions was the right place to help us start our family. Dr. Couchman gave us honest answers about the most viable options for success, and walked us through each step. Along the way, we also had a few visits with Dr. Meyer and Dr. Park. Everyone was very friendly and informative, always taking time to answer all of our questions. Today, we are the proud parents of a beautiful and vivacious toddler. Words can not express the gratitude for our little blessing and miracle. Thank you Dr. Couchman and Carolina Conceptions. You hold a special place in our hearts!
Carolina Conceptions was one of the best decisions I have ever made. From the moment I walked through the door I felt welcomed and wanted. Everyone always has a smile and treated me like we were long lost friends. I have never been in an office where the entire staff was as happy and friendly as they are. Thanks to them, I am now carrying my first child. This is a dream come true. I had given up all hope and almost accepted I just was not meant to have a child. My first appointment was with Dr. Meyer. I left the office that day full of hope. He was so confident and knew what he was talking about. We worked out a plan to start and now it worked. Anyone needing a little assistance, I would strongly recommend you give them a call. BEST doctors and staff ever!
After several failed IUIs and a couple of failed IVF cycles at another area clinic, we transferred care feeling like we were running out of hope. Our experience at Carolina Conceptions was like night and day compared to the old clinic. Dr. Park created a unique protocol tailored to my needs, and we are now patiently awaiting the arrival of our baby girl in October.
Carolina Conceptions really felt like a place of hope. Not only are the physicians extremely skilled at their craft, but everyone from the front desk staff, to the financial counselors, to the nurses, CNAs, and embryologists are rooting for you. There is such a sense of teamwork and community in the office and you receive nothing but the most compassionate care. Staff is available by email (including physicians) and calls and emails were always returned promptly. We could not be more grateful to Dr. Park and everyone at Carolina Conceptions for helping us build a family.
We had a great experience with Carolina Conceptions. We are 3 months pregnant as a result of our 1st IVF. Dr. Meyer was our main Dr. but we also met with Dr. Couchman and Dr. Park several times. They all are nice and very professional. I felt like my IVF medication was being monitored closely, so I felt safe and confident that it would be effective. Dr. Meyer always answered my emails quickly whenever I had questions or concerns. The staff there are very friendly and sincere, especially Keesha. Her smile and kindness just made this tough procedure a little bit easier for me. Overall, we had a great experience and we can't say thank you enough to everyone there for helping us. We had been trying for years and went to several places. I'm glad we came here. We highly recommend Carolina Conceptions.
Love Dr Meyer! I was a patient at Carolina Conceptions for over a year and a half, having much luck with getting pregnant and bad luck staying pregnant. Dr Meyer was my main Dr and he was always very thorough, paid attention to detail, and was funny and easy to feel comfortable with. After all of my losses he was attentive and made us feel like he genuinely cared. I never felt pressured into any procedure, protocol, or to take any certain medicines. I had multiple appts with him, multiple IUIs, 2 HSGs and 1 surgery while I was under his care and everything always went smoothly, on time, professionally, and I was always taken very good care of. I was very annoying and asked a lot of questions and emailed him all the time and the fact that he didn't throw me out the window shows how patient he is. He always responded right away to my emails, even at night, on weekends and when he was on vacation. I also had a positive experience with the other Drs, nurses and staff. I had flawless experience with finance, and never had an issue scheduling, rescheduling, wrong appointments or getting a call back from the front desk staff. I am now 5 1/2 months pregnant and my road has not been easy but I am thankful that I had people like Dr Meyer to help me along the way. My only complaint about CC is that they don't offer OB care! I will definitely go straight back to Dr Meyer for any of my future fertility needs.
I had a horrible experience with Carolina Conceptions from the beginning. On 3 occasions I would show up for an appointment and they would have no record of it. I, once had to wait 3 hours to see a doctor because they accidentily canceled my appointment. Dr. Meyers was my doctor. Initially he performed no tests on me as I already had a child. After 2 months of timed intercourse, one IUI that he performed, and 2 consultations in his office he suggested an HSG. As he walked into the examination room to perform the HSG, he asked if we had met before. I could not believe it! The HSG was unsuccessful and I then needed surgery. During one month of monitoring I went 4 times only to be told at the end that I had too many eggs and to stop treatment. During my last month I scheduled an IUI. When my husband and I went, the nurse brought me back to the HSG room after stating that my husband could not come because they were in a rush and started preparations for an HSG. She had no idea why I was there which is unbelievable to me. Dr. Meyer did come in and ask me why I was here!! I will never go back there again and I won't recommend this place to anyone else. Even had I become pregnant, the lack of attention to detail shown by the doctor, nurse, and even front desk staff was more than I can bear given the amount of money we were spending.
