Great jewelry, great people! – I have visited just about all of the Native American galleries in New England and have found and if you want an experience that rivals the shops and galleries in the Southwest, this is the only place to go. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable about the work that they sell. They travel out west to hand pick/purchase the jewelry they carry and can provide great stories and insight into the pieces as they have developed friendships with the artists over the years.
The Silver Buffalo also hosts the artists for shows throughout the year and this is a very rare chance to get to meet the artists and learn about their crafts and cultures. This is a wonderful place to visit and don't be suprised if your visit turns into and afternoon of learning and meeting new friends.
I closing, I would like to address the 2 negative reviews on this site. I find it very odd that they were posted on the same day and what is stated is counter to everything that I know and have experienced at the SB.
One person is asking for credit a full year after the purchase, claiming the turquoise to be fake. The Silver Buffalo carries award winning artists and does not tolerate or market fake turquoise. In fact the SB actually assesses jewelry for people as they are experts in this area. This individual should look for another appraiser and the fact that the SB even offered store credit after 1 year simply shows how far the SB will go to satisfy their coustomers.
The second complaint is that an individual "put up with young sales associates that were more interested in their cell phones than in my business" and that they did not know how to work a cash register. I am a long time coustomer. They have never had multiple "young" people working there. The young lady that does work there is a consumate professional and the sales transactions are written up by hand, not by cash register.
The Best of The West Brought East – As soon as I walked though the door I could tell this place was the real deal. The gallery is overflowing with southwestern decor and there is even Indian flute music playing in the background. If you are looking for a one of a kind experience, this is the place. The prices are high but if you know the workmanship that goes into it, then you would think it was a steal. If you don't, I'd like to see you make one for less!!!! Being a Silver and Goldsmith myself I know and appreciate good craftsmanship when I see it, not to mention that I have worked along side of some of the Top Award Winning Artisans in Santa Fe. Indian Market in Santa Fe is the cream of the crop Indian shows in the world. The Silver Buffalo carries some of these Artist. Why shop at the Silver Buffalo? Why Not? You read a bad review on this or other sites? Are those people Artist? Do they know what it takes to make something by hand? Are you going to take someone else word for it or see for yourself how wonderful the place really is?
The Silver Buffalo Gallery in Berlin is The Worst! – It was probably the worst shopping experience I have ever had. I went in for one particular necklace for my wife's birthday. You would think that if it was on the website and after I called the store and was assured that it was IN STOCK the store would be prepared to sell it & make it easy to find. 45 minutes & 2 sales associates later the item was finally tracked down. Since it was for my wife, I put up with the waiting. Since it was for my wife, I put up with the extra $125 on the prize tag that was not on the price listed on their website. Since it was for my wife, I put up with young sales associates that were more interested in their cell phones than in my business. Since it was not my day, when all was said and done, the young workers couldn't get their register working and I sat around another 30 minutes for them to tell me that I'd have to wait for a manager to purchase the item. Already delayed with a wife waiting for me to pick up dinner I said to hell with it and left.
Silver Buffalo is not worth your time & money – The Silver Buffalo Gallery in Berlin is HORRIBLE! Buyers Beware!!! I bought a vintage turquoise ring at the silver buffalo (about $600) and after having it appraised for my insurance, I found out that the turquoise was fake!! As some time had passed (almost 1 yr) The Sliver buffalo refused to give me a full refund and instead offered me only store credit. Knowing that their stones could be fake, store credit was the last thing I would ever want from their store. So please beware when you're buying jewelry from the Silver Buffalo in Berlin MA
