I actually created an account now that I moved away because of the way my membership was handled. Beware as the person below me notes. I was essentially forced to pay for two months after I left even though when I signed up, I was assured this would not happen since I have moved for my job frequently. The manager running this gym has no concept of better business practices for long-term growth and satisfaction of the clientele. I would highly recommend looking elsewhere as places such as the JCC offer excellent alternatives and customer oriented management.
Beware – Be careful when you sign an agreement or give them your credit card information. The default is to renew memberships and charge your card. It appears that by the time you notice they are doing this, at least two billing cycles have gone by, because they require a 30 day notice.
As far as gyms go .. eh.
it's about time for this kind of gym – Finally, a downtown gym that feels like downtown. the brick and big windows and high ceilings are cool. Luv is right, the gym is really clean. Plus, they have alot of machines I haven't seen before...one thing I wish they could find a way to work in is a pool. But other than that, the free towels, free parking and tanning are nice to have. I've been at the fitness factory for about 3 months and really like the people and staff. Plus I can run next door and get a protein shake at Washington Post!
The Best Downtown Gym – I have loved the Fitness Factory since the first time I walked in! They have great equipment and I found everything I was looking for- I found the staff to be very helpful and I think it may be the cleanest gym I have seen in a long time. I was thrilled to find such a great gym in the loft district- so convenient!!! I tell all my friends they have to check out this gym- there is nothing like it in St. Louis.
No morning group classes. – The gym is clean and new but if you need before work morning classes go somewhere else. They only have 8 spinning bikes and have reduced spinning classes to one evening class. Right now there are no classes on Friday or Sundays and only one group weight class on Saturdays. The morning and noon yoga classes have also been eliminated. The desk staff is helpful but managing staff less that involved or helpful. I bought a spinning card - $60.00 for 20 classes then the next week they cancelled the two morning spinning classes and since I work evenings I can't attend the one evening spinning class. When I asked for a refund I was told to "just hang onto the card" maybe they'll bring classes back in the fall. I don't intend to continue my membership since what I was looking for in a gym has now been eliminated.
