Ecco Lounge Discriminates! – Ok, so our promoter had been comminicating for a week with Ecco Lounge so that Thai Tv can come down and do a mini shoot there on a Saturday night. We were going to do a few interviews and promo the club, all was confirmed through e-mail. We got there early to set up in the patio. All was fine and dandy til bout 10ish when we found out that we had 15 people in line that they would not let in. We heard the Ecco employee say they only want "beautiful" people in the club. Not only that, but our promoter went to talk to the owner and i was told that they would not let our people in because it's too Asian. Really?!?! They told our crew we had to pack up, which we did, thinking we could stay but they said we had to leave and let us out through the back patio door into the alley.
I have never felt so low before in my life! Not only did we take the 15 people with us but there were another 30 that came that night. So Ecco turned away 50 customers because we were too Asian and not beautiful to fit their Eco friendly club!
This is 2009.... People still discriminate because of race in Los Angeles?
Disturbing place – It?s a shame that a first ?Eco friendly lounge? is the most unfriendliness place in our City! As soon as I walked up to the line, Jan (the clipboard puppet) literally told me that normally she would not let half of these people in, mind you everyone was dressed perfect, and so she was saying that based on their looks. (Do the owners know that they will get sued for their employees talking that way?)It?s not my concern that the woman ( Jan ) is pushing forty and running around checking names of a clipboard and talking to people the way that she does makes her feel some what important for a split second, perhaps she needs that. I can care less about who she deals with, a costumer is a costumer.I know that?s how the owners feel; anyone who?s paying $ 1,900 to be in their club deserves the same, if not more respect as a celebrity who?s getting everything for free. The owners should be aware of what?s going on in their club and that the people who come in and especially the ones who are spending such large amount of money in this disturbing economy, have a descent time. In addition the owners should know that they are getting robed by the people who ?run? the door. They charged two of our friends $150 each just to get in, as far as I?m concerned, it?s against the law! Who is this money going to and why? Instead of respecting the fact that it was someone?s birthday and try to make their experience pleasant, Jan was as rude as a person could be to a birthday girl, who approached her with respect, there is a HUGE LACK OF HUMANITY at ECCO. I understand it?s a ?hot place? for time being anyway, Iknow they?re job is to keep it that way, but have some dignity while you?re at it.People please stay away from ECCOand don?t contribute the most discriminating place I have ever been to. ECCO takes advantage of they?re clients, they will rip you off by asking you to buy a $ 500 bottle per every two people getting in, and attempt to make you feel terrible while they are at it.
Eco-friendly but not so much race friendly – Unfortunately my experience at Ecco was not so great. After my friends and I planned and reserved a table at this establishment, we waited in line for at least 20 mins to first be told that they weren't letting anymore people in even though groups of people were continuing to walk through the rope in front of us. My friend who had already been waiting inside at our table even came out with the promotor who invited us to try and resolve the situation but no budge. Finally the truth came out! The main promotor told our girlfriend that they weren't letting anymore black women in for the night and to not get offended, it's just the business(mind you we came with a predominately Caucasian group and me and one other girl is african american). Our friend angrily stormed out and updated us on why we couldn't enter their establishment as a paying patron. The main promotor noticed our friend was telling us the situation and after whispering amongst her colleagues quickly changed her tune and tried to wave us back with open arms. At this point my other black friend and I were so offended that the thought of stepping into that place was not even close to an option. I just wanted to get the word out to everyone!! I'm not sure if it's the establishment itself or that individual promotor that practices such ignorance but I was very displeased to say the least!
Saving the world ? One drink at a time – Ecco is a brilliant concept. Right in the middle of the cahuenga strip the location couldn?t be more convenient. All of the mixers are made from fresh squeezed organic ingredients. Champagne and cocktails are actually priced lower than most hot new Hollywood clubs. Special LED lights flash green, red, blue and give off a very disco party vibe. The patio is chill too. i promote this club on certain hot nights. For guestlist consideration send me an email w/ "ecco guestlist" in the subject and include what date, how many people in your party, a myspace/facebook link and contact info for me to get back to you my email is cjatthedoor@gmail com
Ecco is amazing! – The crowd is great and good looking ;) . Drinks are strong (but at 12 bucks, they better be). Dance floor is a good size in relation to the size of the actual club. Excellent music and AWESOME sound system. Friday nights are definitely the night to go. The only thing that was horrible were the ALL FEMALE BARTENDERS and they were really SLOOWW and unfriendly (she threw the bill at me). Definitely will be going back.
Awsome vibes – This place is great. I don't know if it was just that night but I had a blast. I like the ambiance and the people. Definitely going back!
Leave it to Cahuenga Corridor to play host to the only place in Los Angeles where you can party "green." – In Short
Nightclub veterans Danny B and David Stratton's goal to create a green nightspot that minimizes its impact on the environment has found a natural home in the middle of L.A.'s coolest club stretch. Angelenos don't seem to mind that Tokio Lounge was gutted to build this eco-friendly space from the ground up, and Planet Green has already put in their stake by documenting the entire transformation for an Adrian Grenier-hosted episode of "Alter Eco." But why watch on TV what you can visit in real life? Proving that energy-efficient design doesn't mean style-deficient, the spacious lounge has everything from a multi-colored LED lighting system to recycled steel air pressure toilets and, um, waterless urinals.
