Wow!! what an amazing place to eat after a serious hangover!! Gets packed but worth the wait.... Highly recommend ordering the grilled baby cabbage :)
Fun place – Service is good and so are the drinks. The food is great too if you're willing to wait since this place is always busy. Fun spot for brunch!
Ciao Bella Now Uses Fillers in their Ice Cream! – Diasppointed to see that many (all? - we had their chocolate and triple espresso) of their ice creams now use
- Guar Gum
- Locust Bean Gum
all at the same time. Yikes! We loved the ice cram they make, but now won't touch it. Had some lately and wondered why it tasted funny. Then we read the list of ingredients. Looks like the expansion of their business drove a once great brand to focus more on profits than on the quality that got them to the top.
"The Smith" breaks "The Curse" – When the Smith moved in to its current location on Third Avenue, I thought: “Well, this won’t last long.” After all, that particular address seemed to be cursed by a string of unsuccessful business ventures, including the most recent casualty – Pizzeria Uno. After actually going in and trying the food, I can gladly say that I was dead wrong. The Smith offers something that I haven’t seen in this area before – good, reasonably priced comfort food in a cool but unassuming setting. As for food – the burger-and-beer deal on some nights is great. The mashed potatoes are some of the best in the city (I’m not sure why, but I’ll hazard a guess that there’s sour cream in them – trust me, they’re amazing), and the mac and cheese is better than most. For breakfast, you have to try the Croker – it’s essentially a heartattack in a skillet (hence the name) – consisting of eggs, ham, and sourdough bread, all on a bed of home fries. Amazing. Unfortunately, everyone else thinks this place is amazing too, which is why it’s become quite crowded during peak dinner and brunch hours. If you’re looking for something comfortable, fun, and low-maintenance, this place is definitely worth the wait.
Chic Hangout for brunch and dinner – I like every dish I have ordered here. The menu is simple but every dish is made well. It is not gourmet but it is good enough for you to enjoy a good time with friends and its ambiance.
A safe favorite – This is one of those classic go-to places that has a little something for everyone. The food is good, drinks are great, and the atmosphere is energetic and classic. It's best for groups or a casual bite - definitely not a quiet romantic date place. Make a reservation or be prepared to wait. Ive been here at least 2 dozen times and when I'm in the mood, it's perfect. Love the green bean salad, tomato soup and brunch menu!
Great brunch, long wait – Love The Smith. Great, fun atmosphere. Delish food and overall fantastic brunch place. They just need to get a better hold on their seating. 4 hosts plus the manager at the front and still a lot of chaos and waiting past said time at the front. I would recommend visiting when the weather is nice so you can wait outside, watch all the hipsters and forego the fire hazard at the front door. Had the country breakfast -was delish! Their tomato soup, which is like french onion's cousin, is not to be skipped. Our server was super attentive. Overall, great brunch spot.
Great Lunch! – Just left lunch at The Smith.. I had the Meditteranean Salad - delicious! My friend had the Fish Filet and enjoyed it as well. The fries are yummy and the waitress was fab (recommended great wines)! Definitely will return & recommend!
Great Spot – My friend has lived across the street from this place and finally went for dinner with friends. The food here is very good in a nice buzzy but mature & perfect atmosphere. The wine selections are really amazing though, the manager knows it well and the service was wonderful, attentive. A great spot.
Great menu and consistently good! – I have recently gone to this restaurant multiple times and have been for brunch, drinks and appetizers, as well as dinner. I have yet to have a bad dish there- and same for the people I have eaten with- it is a great value. The atmosphere is loud but cozy and the bartenders are attentive and don't seem to have an attitude... The brunch menu is great and everything is so tasty!
