Jose, Eric, and Stanley did a great job!! This is the second time I've used Shleppers and I would definitely use you again. I will recommend Shleppers to other people. Thank you for a trouble free move.
Our Movers were very cooperative and helpful. This was a difficult move from the point of access to both houses and the weather. Walter was great to work with and his crew was very patient. I appreciate the professionalism. Im moving to North Carolina during the summer and will consider Shleppers first as my choice of movers.
I have been waiting to write this review because I was hoping to come to a resolution with Schleppers regarding our problems. That hasn't happened. Full disclosure: This move happened at the end of August of '13 and we have been going through our Credit Card company to try to resolve the issue.
This has been hands-down the worst experience I have ever had with a business. I want to try to keep this short so people read it and benefit from it.
My wife and I hired Schleppers to move us from a small one-bedroom apartment on the Upper West Side to a one-bedroom apartment in Inwood. The movers they sent were unable to perform the move. By the end of the day I had called friends to help us. My friends, my wife and I moved 90% our stuff from the moving truck into the new apartment including ALL of the furniture. I also spent the entire next day shuttling back and forth between apartments bringing the stuff they had left behind in our old apartment. Some of the reasons the movers could not move us include: They sent movers who had injuries and were unable to lift things, They sent movers who could not communicate with each other due to language barrier, The movers inexplicably disappeared for long periods of time, Oh, and there was alcohol involved. (the icing on the cake was when the head mover offered my friends and I, who had been doing all of the moving for a couple hours at this point, BEER FROM THEIR MOVING TRUCK as a thank you!!!)
During the course of the disastrous move we called Schleppers to let them know what was going on and to ask for help. They said there was nothing they could do. I asked for a manager to call me back ASAP. No one did. The head mover called during the day to ask Schleppers for help. He then told us that Schleppers INTENTIONALLY OVERBOOKS during busy times and they do not have enough movers to do the jobs they book. I called Schleppers after the move to let them know that I would be disputing the charge in hopes that we could come to an agreement. No one returned my call and they responded to our CC company by saying that we did not inform them of items left behind. Total BS.
There is a ton more to tell (such as details of the movers disregard for our belongings, and for the buildings we were moving into and out of), but this is too long already. I know that some people have had decent experiences with Schleppers, but why take the chance. Moving is a trying experience on its own and this company gave me one of the worst experiences of my life and they don't seem to care. STAY AWAY! There are plenty of other options!!! I will update if Schleppers has a miraculous turn around and reaches out to address our concerns, but more than likely my update will involve small claims court.
If you are considering moving, please do not use shleppers. Below was my experience with shleppers when they moved my stuff from NY to MI in June 2013. I finally got around to post my experience as I had promised.
The booking and payment was fairly easy and the mover arrived on time on the day of the move. They look professional and I was actually impressed by the co-ordination.
They carefully packed everything. However they did not bring enough packing material and had to use the leftover that we had. All the same I thought they did a very good Job and gave them a huge tip (regrets!). Immediately they left my house, I could not find my I-pad. I had kept it in one of the closets in the bedroom away from what needed to be packed. During the packing one of the guys somehow thought we were packing the clothes in this closet and was packing them until we stopped him. We had informed them what needed to be packed and mentioned that things in the closet were not included. When the I -pad was missing we then realized he wanted to steal those valuables in the closet and that explained his behavior. I called Shleppers office immediately to report the stolen
I-pad but the response was not encouraging. Someone called later to take more information but that was all.
MY stuff did not arrive in MI until a week after the scheduled date, but the worse aspect is that no one called to inform me of the delay and whenever I called no one could give me information ,and I was transferred from one staff to the other. Then they promised to call back and never did.
When my property finally arrived at MI, a lots was wrong. A whole box was missing. My bed was broken and the TV stand was deformed. They had packed the TV in NY ( we paid for the packing), but on arrival in MI they refuse to set -up the TV, saying we did not pay for setting up.
I called to inform shleppers office that a box was missing, then they informed me that one box got ripped in their storage and they tried to salvage stuffs inside, but I made them understand that we can not find any of the stuffs in that box.
I promised shleppers I will write a review on my experience. It has been about 5 months, and I am finally doing that. If you love yourself, stay away from Shleppers. Do not let them steal or destroy your goods. This is my story.
I've never been more satisfied with a service. These guys are AMAZING! I'm recommending the dream team to everyone!!!!
No complaints here. The movers were very professional. They actually showed up early. The overall experience was excellent. They did a wonderful job and Exceeded expections. They deserve to be rewarded for their excellent work
I just had to take time to write this comment about Shleppers. I was given an estimate for my move. Steven came, he itemized each item and he estimated the cost and guess what? That's what I actually paid for the move. I couldn't believe it. From my and everyone I know experience once your belongings are on the truck your items are held hostage until you agree to pay whatever crazy increase they NOW tell you that you owe. For example tape, boxes and materials that could run you an extra $1500 - $2000 or so just like that. You always hear about these horror stories. My move was not an horror. Just the opposite. They came early, checked off everything on the list, tagged & numbered every item, moved items quickly & efficiently, wrapped and protected the items. I expected the estimate to increase but the material use (tape, boxes, etc) were already factored into the price. How about that? That takes away the shocking surprise at the end when they tell you that each tape they used cost a fortune and a half after they just finished using one whole role on a small item and when you look around the floors you see unfinished rolls of tapes everywhere. With Shleppers this was not the case. Yes they used tape, boxes, etc but since it's part of the move it was factored into the price. Needless to say I was happy with my moving experience with Shleppers.
Everything was great, from the pre-move communication to the scheduling confirmation to the actual move. Your moving crew was professional, courteous, mindful of my possessions and I really couldn't be happier with the way everything went.
The Shleppers movers were great! Extremely professional and handled my items with great care.
I had to move out of my apartment within a short time window and Shleppers was able to get the job done well.
