Worth going downtown for. Craving a good chowder--- this is THE place to go! Take all our guests here. Selection is great, prices are moderate, and the crowded atmosphere just adds to the fun!

Best Chowder in Seattle. Hands down the best chowder in the city! They've won umpteen awards since the early 90's, even pulling down some national awards on the east coast - The Rhode Island National Championship or something like that. Great stuff. Never tried their crab sandwiches, but lunch at Pike Place Chowder in Downtown Seattle or at the PIke Place Market is definitely well worth it. Actually, lunch or early dinner (closes at 5pm I think - the one in downtown is open later).

Shoppers sit at small tables on bright chairs in this small outpost of the legendary Pike Place chowder emporium. The menu's focus is its sinfully creamy chowder: the original New England is an award-winning velvety delight; the pink-hued salmon variety nicely negates the strong salmon flavor. Manhattan and clear variations are available for those not in a creamy mood, and there are also salad and sandwich options. Free hunks of sourdough are provided for dunking purposes.
