Like conflicted teenager, needs to grow up – The Glenwood seems conflicted. On the one hand, the menu looks good, the beer list is extensive and the plating very delicate. On the other, the clientele and barstaff are raucous and mismatched and apparently like to play Slipknot on the jukebox. The table service strives to be fine-dining/gastropub and the bar just doesn't seem to care. Some drinks came out wrong or not at all, and when I needed change, I had to wait for the bartender to finish thrashing to whatever was assaulting my ears before he acknowledged me. If it were a dive bar, I'd be all over it. But The Glenwood is trying to be something else.

I'm not sure I'd come back just to drink and munch on apps again. The fried pickles were both soggy and rock-crunchy from sitting in a deep (though elegant) dish under a heat lamp, the onion rings were virtually flavorless and the fries were the best of the three but certainly nothing special. $11 for a three-app dish seems steep if that's what's coming out.

I think the place might be better on a weeknight, or if you are coming for a burger and a beer or a slightly fancier entree. I'm going to give dinner a try at a later date and see if it's any better than this Friday night business.

Good food. Great beer. Excellent atmosphere. – We've been here a few times and have yet to be disappointed. Waitstaff is excellent; very knowledgable, particuarly helpful with beer selections if you don't know what you're doing. Vibe is laid-back; warm colors, pub-style wood benches, LCD TV, standing shuffleboard table and darts. There's a jukebox but when it's not running, there's electronic/indie music playing. The crowd is mostly 30- to 40-somethings, but there are several young-at-hearts and college kids so it's a pretty good mix. Gay/straight. Black/white. (This is East Atlanta Village afterall.)

Food is excellent. At least the dishes I've tried. You're good with anything schnitzel... side dishes are good. For what I would consider a bar first and foremost, I was really suprised at how good the food was actually. But maybe that's because my expectations were low; I'm not sure. But it keeps me coming back if that's any indication.

A Strong Showing for East-Atlanta Village – I moved to the EAV about 8 months ago and have had the opportunity to eat and imbibe at every dining establishment in the area. I continually find myself and friends returning time and again to The Glenwood to partake of the excellent dining and service experience.

The menu blossums with new culinary creations with every change in the season. The chef (they have an actual, classically trained chef) also creates daily menu items, soups and cheese specials. There is always something new to try. With a constant influx of new cheeses, wines and oysters, the variety never ends.

Not all the items on the menu are so high-end. The menu boasts a sandwich and burger section unrivaled by the competition. Currently they are featuring a TurDucken burger that is out of this world! Also try the Lamb burger, topped with Feta cheese; it's a fine change from the standard old burger. The homemade Black bean burger is the best I have tasted in town.

The side items offered by The Glenwood are varied and delightful. Sides include salads, soups, fried green tomatoes (in season), fried pickles, Mac and Cheese, and many more. You could eat at this establishment every week for a year and never have to eat the same dish twice -- the options are almost endless.

The environment is warm and inviting. One side of the restaurant is filled with booths, tables and bar tops with a full length bar. Smoking is permitted on this side. The other side of the building is devoted to non smoking, fine dining, fine wines, cheeses from around the world, and seasonal oysters.

The Glenwood also boasts an outside patio perfect for those who want to enjoy Atlanta's fine weather.

All-in-all, The Glenwood's food and drink can be a little expensive. If you?re looking for cheap food and beer, there are many other places in the EAV to enjoy yourself. I personally believe the costs are completely inline with the type, style and service received.

Ambitious menu fails to impress, rising prices, changes needed – I once loved this restaurant for it was a diamond in the rough. A creative, clean, rather-upscale local pub-like atmosphere with a super warm staff that made guests feel special and appreciated. All this has gradually changed to the point where my disappointment forces me to give constructive criticism. Prices have twice increased while portions have decreased making this a very expensive option. Also, food quality has gone down dramatically. Staff has also changed and is less warm, friendly and generous. I can no longer recommend this place or even frequent it. I was a regular but will not be returning for food and possibly not even drinks. As mentioned previously, prices have increased, drinks are priced higher than the neighboring establishments. The drinks are nothing special, pretty basic and high priced. I hope management makes some major changes, especially since they are in the process of expanding the dining area.

Nice room...., nice staff....food way overrated – First and foremost, just go ahead and take the deviled eggs off the menu immediately...this has got to be the poorest excuse for a deviled egg I've ever had....not that anybody ever makes them better than your Aunt or your Mom, but this is a disgrace. IF you have no auntie's or Mom then simply go to the spotted Pig in NYC or Holman and Finch for closer proximity for a tutorial on how deviled eggs are supposed to be done. I've had better deviled eggs in a pickup counter at an Ingles grocery. The mac & C was average at best and the collard greens were ok, its just that I'd like to have my own option of how much vinegar I put into them. How bout the cook focus on the tenderness (excellent btw) and flavor of the pork with the greens (couldn't tell due to vinegar overload) and leave the rest to me. The brat was tastey and the housemade mustard ok, but another huge miss was the so called "chow-chow" that was supposed to accompany the Brat. Here's another tip, please don't try to fool a Southerner into thinking that cole slaw is somehow a hybrid artisian version of chow chow...I've eaten chow chow my entire life and this ain't it!!! The highlights of the meal were the fried pickles and the cheese plate, not the best I ever had, but certainly worthy of a revisit. I'm not about to give up on the joint as there appears to be other nice bites on the menu, but geeezzzz...let's pick it up a bit ok. Based on the hype and press, my expectations were nowhere near met.

What a Gastropub! – My wife and I a great experience while visiting The Glenwood in Atanta's East Village! The food was terrific. My wife and I had the heirloom tomato sampler and pimento cheese plate for appetizers. We could not have asked for more fresh, tasty tomatoes; and the homemade pimento cheese and fried dill pickles were out of this world. I had the grilled salmon ,which was delicious, and my wife had the rapidly becoming famous 'Turducken' Burger. You've got to visit to try the 'Turducken' Burger if for no other reason.

The service was outstanding and friendly. We plan on visiting The Glenwood during our next excursion into Atlanta.

East Atlanta hangout aims to please the neighbors with an impressive beer selection and creative pub grub. – In Short
East Atlanta's version of the gastropub has fast become a neighborhood favorite. The beer list is long - especially the bottles - and chef Ryan Stewart's menu, which ranges from Eastern North Carolina barbecue to chicken-fried filet mignon, encourages folks who come for a beer after work to sit down in one of the dark wooden booths and stay awhile. The secluded back patio, offering a respite from the cigarette smoke and sometimes loud music from the jukebox, adds to the appeal.
