This is a hidden gem on the Sunset Strip. Serious Northern Italian food, and a nice wine list. Super friendly service. Note that the space is pretty small, so reserve in advance for weekends. Downstairs is more lively - upstairs more low key.

Romantic and Memorable Birthday Dinner – From the first step into the beautifully intimate restaurant, our experience was top notch. The low candle light and attention to simple decor made us feel like we had been transported to an Italian village. My fiance took me to celebrate my birthday and every step of the way, they made it memorable. We arrived on time for our reservation and had to wait a brief moment for a table. To tide us over, we were given complementary champagne while we waited (and refils again when we were seated.) From large portions (even on appetizers!) to a fantastic wine selection (we enjoyed the Cesari Amarone 2003- just like berry juice!) attention to detail can be noted on their menu. We enjoyed the Carpaccio Di Manzo and Proscuitto E Burrata to start and for our main course: roasted veal chop with porcini mushrooms and the Filet Mignon stuffed with drunken goat cheese. If you like goat cheese, this steak is a must! To celebrate my birthday, we had a rare Moscato D'Asti that was the perfect finish with a slice of chocolate. If you want to treat someone to a romantic, intimate and memorable night- this is the place to go!

Great food, great service! The best Italian food in LA – We were pleasantly suprised by this small restaurants outstanding food , wine selection and service. The attention to detail made for a delicious evening. Book reservations as it is a busy little place. The seafood was simple and not overdone. The eggplant appetizer was amazing and just the right size. The staff is helpful and knowledgeable about the menu, specials and wine selections. We are looking forward to going back.

Please do not eat at this restaurant. – Do not patronize this restaurant. We had a 7:30 reservation, which I confirmed twice. We arrived at 7:35 and were told that our table had been given away. The host offered no apology and no accommodation. We were simply told that there was nothing available for the rest of the evening. When informed that it was my birthday, the host responded with complete and utter indifference.

2-Hour Ordeal for Food on Valentine's Day – On Valentine's Day 2008, I made a reservation at this restaurant at 9:30PM. I was not seated until 10:30PM... and I waited for my food until 11:30PM or so. It was a prix-fixed for $70.00. I had no idea that it was a fixed menu... so after you sat down, what could you have done?

The food was good, but was it worth the wait for a bill that came out to almost $600.00 for 4 prix-fixes (Excuse my French) and 2 bottles of wine?

At 1:30AM after Valentine's Day, I felt used and abused.

That's Los Angeles, I supposed!

Enjoy Amarone!

Traditional Italian fare rules at this rustic, country-style kitchen situated amid the chaos of the Sunset Strip. – In Short
Tucked along the same gritty Sunset stretch as the Viper Room, this pillbox-sized eatery is a comfy reprieve from the outside hubbub. Culinary simplicity of the Emilia-Romagna region is the rule here, with appetizers dominated by no-nonsense pastas like wild mushroom ravioli with sage, and rigatoni with sausage ragu. Heartier seconds include pork chops with a white canellini bean salad, and seared filet mignon with drunken goat cheese. In a part of town where people come to be seen, this cozy spot appeals to folks who care less about style and more about sustenance.

Hits: The menu is solid and offers dishes rarely seen on Italian menus in L.A. (swordfish carpaccio, anyone?). The wine list is impressive and features many affordable selections in the $30 and $40 range.

Misses: It's such a tiny venue that it can sometimes be difficult to get a last-minute table during the dinner rush; even with a reservation, there might be a short wait.

Excellent authentic italian cuisine – This place is great! The reviews are pretty right on. It was surprising how easy parking was considering this place was on Sunset. Alessandro who works there was an amazing server/manager. He was extremely helpful with recommendations and very attentitve. The food was delicious - Appetizers we had were the proscuitto and burrata (always go burrata if you have a choice between it and mozzarella) and the swordfish carpaccio which were AWESOME. The veal chop and the steak with goat cheese were to die for. This place is extremely small so reservations are recommended. They have an excellent wine selection also. The creme brulee is to die for. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for good authentic italian.

genuine italian gem! – I read only rave reviews about this place so decided to try it. I was more than impressed. The restaurant is small but beautifully decorated. The menu was extensive and everything we ordered was excellent. We had there house wine, which the restaurant is named after, and it was great. I started with a special that was the squid ink linguini and my boyfriend had the paparadelle. For dinner I had the sole and he had the lamb shank. Service was right on key and you could tell this is a very carefully run restaurant. The owner came round to make sure everything was too our liking and they even brought us a complementary dessert. Well worth the visit!

Gem on Sunset – What a great little place for dinner and wine! I came here with my husband's family and we sat at one of the four tables in the front of the restaurant (I think there are only a few more in the back). The owner was extremely nice and the staff was very attentive. I ordered an amazing eggplant parmigan dish to start -- it was one of the best! I also got the dover sole which was delicious. The presentation of the plates was beautiful as well. I really enjoyed this restaurant and will definitely be going back.
