Not worth it – My wife and I went there on Friday the 16th for an anniversary dinner and were enthusiastically offered a "romantic" table next to the kitchen and facing the bar. Brushing off the irony of that table choice, we went ahead and started with the mushroom bisque and ahi tartar. The bisque was lukewarm at best and we had to send it back. The ahi tartar was presented well, but lacked any real flavor, it was acceptable but forgettable. Entrees were beef tenderloan for my wife and lamb sirlon for me. The beef was flavorful, but tough. Alas, we had to send that back as well because it came with spinach vs. asparagus as we requested.

The lamb was unevely cooked, flavorless and cold. The best part of the meal was the manchego mac and cheese. The wait staff was friendly and attentive, but two cold dishes and one returned dish because of an incorrect order is spotty service in my book. Again, ambiance was ok, but staring at the Laguna Beach 40 something singles crowd mingle while trying to enjoy a quiet meal with my wife didn't really meet expectations. We certainly would have been ok with the table if the food was ok, but it wasn't. An unfortunate waste of time and money.

Global influences intertwine with a market-driven New American menu at this beachfront fine dining oasis for the O.C. elite. – In Short
This upscale beach cottage restaurant specializes in creating contemporary American dishes inspired by international culinary traditions. The global fusion starts on the appetizer menu, with offerings such as tandoori jumbo shrimp and kampachi taco-shimi." The trend continues with main courses like Hawaiian-style steamed barramundi and clay pot monkfish. Meat lovers can partake of the grilled prime rib-eye steak with "truffle fries," while pan-seared beef tenderloin and lobster ravioli caters to those craving some surf-and-turf. Dessert options range from classic apple cobbler and Valhrona chocolate cake to Australian passion fruit pavlova meringue and the crepe-like hazelnut feuillitine with "Buddha's hand confit."

Wonderful ambiance! – I enjoyed my evening at Sapphires. I ordered the prime rib steak and it was prepared to perfection. Everyone at our table enjoyed their dinner although the menu is a little pricey. The ambiance was wonderful as well as the service. I can?t wait to return for the lunch menu. Enjoy!

WORST SERVICE EVER!! – Upon arriving at Sapphire I was welcomed with a egotistic stare rather than a large welcoming smile from the hostess. I shook this initial sneer off proceeded to the bar (since my table wasn't ready). After a 45 minute wait and 2 very weak Gin and Tonics I was escorted to our table which was conveniently stuck in the middle of the room. I started with the Caesar fondue (which tasted like Paul Newman's step-son made it)). I then sprung for the Baked Korobuta pork shank which tasted I had to chew for about 45 minutes before I was able to swallow... I skipped dessert. If you do end up going don't say I did not warn you!!!!!! STAY AWAY
