Better Mexican – Nice room and good food...........but,VERY expensive for this style of food. You ARE paying for the room !
The ambience was great but the food not so much – We went on a Thursday evening because they advertise "complimentary margarita with meal". However, the prices are a bit steep and the food not so great (which makes the free margarita not worth it). We just opted for appetizers and beer.
There was live music and the place was packed. It is an ok place
Great food Great service – I've been walking by this place for about a 3 months since i've moved to this neighborhood and i thought it looked a little to trendy for me so i finally gave it a shot this weekend. The food was terrific the service was great . The staff was so attentive The tequila section even better. the only thing i didnt like was the crabmeat rolls they were a little on the lite side. The fajitas were more than i can eat i ended up taking it home and having it for lunch and went back there for dinner. One of the best burgers i've evr had and the spice they put on the fries I will definately be back for more
Friendly, Entertaining, and Accomodating!! – Me and four of my girl friends came here on a Friday night and had a great time!! We started out with the Buffalo Oysters (which you HAVE to try) and Guacamole ( a little smaller portion than we had hoped, but very tasty). The drinks were on time and plentiful. The entrees came a little quicker than I would have expected, but it wasn't a big deal. Our server was incredibly attentive and she described, in detail, the entrees, cocktail drinks, and made suggestions that we ended up going for. First off, the entrees were delicious and HUGE portions for the price. A pitcher of red sangria was followed up by a round of Margaritas. We were pleasantly surprised when the two bar tenders (in little orange polos!) brang the margaritas out and chatted to us for a bit. They asked if we enjoyed everything and if we would like to try some Tequila shots, or something called THE PUNISHER. A little morbid, I know, but we watched as my one (very brave) friend took this habanero infused shot. It was hilarious to watch my friend's eyes water up as she tried to keep a smile! Unfortunately, the rest of us were not as brave as she, but it made for quite an adventure. We will definitely be returning, maybe next time I'll be the one stepping up to the Punisher challenge! Bottom line: Professional and extremely friendly staff, delicious entrees, and a truly fun atmosphere.
Great all around – Went there twice so far and intend on going back. Great food and staff. First I'll talk about the food. You must try the corn on the cob!! The calamari was also so delicious! Not greasy at all! Perfectly cooked. We had the steak quesedilla, burger and fries, guacamole, and tuna salad. All were excellent choices. Now about the staff. Something very unfortunate occurred when we were there on our 2nd visit. Someone who was walking out of the restaurant stole my friend's purse. I can't even put into words the loss and feeling at that moment or realization!! It was our innocence's fault as my friend hung her purse on the back of her chair. Well, the staff was devasted! They immediately called the police (who showed up in 5 minutes, which anyone who has ever needed the police in Astoria, know it can take a long time for them to show up). The manager and our waiter were so upset and genuinely concerned. In the end they took off a nice percentage off the check and sent us five complimentary, DELICIOUS desserts. As we were leaving the manager asked us to please call him and let us know that everything turned out ok and that our friend was OK. As a person who is ALL about customer service this restaurant did NOT let me down! Thank you for your genuine care and concern for our friend and not just the image of the restaurant. I highly recommend this restaurant to all and leave a nice tip... they deserve it!
fun, delicious, friendly – As a resident of Astoria, it is always awesome to find a great place with excellent food. Mojave is that and more!! Our server was so friendly and the drinks were diverse and well made. But the highlight for me was the entree I chose. I ate the Salmon which is the best Salmon I have ever had. It is crusted with ground pumpkin seeds, pan seared with a chipotle cream sauce drizzled on top. It is served on a bed of spinach sauteed in garlic and smoked tomatoes. YUM! OMG. Delicious. It is pricey but worth it. I will go back for the food, service and fun atmosphere.
nice drink menu – have eaten here twice recently; the 1st visit was just OK but the second time we dined here we were pleasantly surprised. the service is personable and the food is generally good quality. i would avoid the 3 cheese chilaquiles - it is soggy . They have a very creative list of cocktails and infused drinks and tequilas.
thanks to Mojave i am now a fan of the soutwest.. – While visiting a friend in Astoria we went to eat at MOJAVE, It was so good we ate there twice! Dinner the first night and lunch the following day. Mojave definition of southwest cooking is like no other. While not a huge fan of the southwest faire their recipes brought a higher respect of that region of cooking. I only wish they would open a restaurant in the Boston area. I recommend you to order a few plates so to sample different dishes! Excellent, perfect, and close to heaven with just the right amount of heat: 5 stars!
GREAT FOOD, AWESOME SERVICE – I go to this joint since middle of february, i love the food and i know all the waiters. It's a great addition to astoria and since i moved from manhattan i always find difficulties find good places in astoria. This place feels like manhattan, great ambience, high quality food for decent prices, will keep coming at mojave for a long time.
Good Ambience, LIVE MUSIC, good food – I probably walked in front of this place 100 times and always wanted to try it, but never did. I went last tueasday to the battle of the burgers at astoria manor and by coincindence i bumped into their stand. I tried the chix quesadilla along with the carnita (delicious) and tried their sangria. WOW...... seriously.. amazing... I felt bad i never gave thsi restaurant a chance, it never appealed to me, but thursday i went with my girlfriend, and we sat in the front, with the latino band. i really enjoyed the night and along came other 4 friends, we stayed there 3 hours.. they bought us 1 round of margaritas and a tasting of tequila... i was hammered but the next day i got up like nothing happened.. i guess the real tequila does that..
thank you MOJAVE, great staff, funny, friendly and aslo good food, I joined city serach just to write this review.. sorry i never gave them a chance
