Can't say it was a bad experience but generally just disappointing. Not sure I would return. We had ok service although we noticed some other tables having a hard time getting the attention of some staff. The food was mixed, just nothing was particulary well done. Ambience was nice and comfortable--we had plenty of room but also went early, maybe around 6. Hip but not too obnoxious. Just...m'eh.

The food & service is awful – I checked this restaurant out during Brooklyn Restaurant week and on a scale of 1 - 10 give this place a one and would never return. My meal started with a bowl of very salty bread with frozen butter. Next came a glass of wine that had oxidised and tasted like vinegar. This was followed by what was supposed to be a goat cheese sald. The salad consisted of a bed of spinch leaves with a flavorless dressing and an unripe tomatotopped with goat cheese wrapped in fillo. The goat cheese packet tasted like it had been reheated several times. Next came what was supposed to be coc au vin. This turned out to be scaps of chicken where every bite had a piece of bone. The food was so salty it simply was ineatable. Mixed in with this slop was pieces of partialy cooked bacon that gave the meal a greasy taste to go along with the salt. This was topped with pieces of Rosemary that had a very intense flavor. There is no possibleway anyone could have tasted this food before it was served. For dessert I was served what was supposed to be an apple tartan. This was a soggy piece of pie dough, with mushy flavorless apples served with sour cream. The only way to describe this dessert was disgusting. The atmosphere was so dark that I could not read the menu and had to have the waiter bring a candle. I still could not read the menu and went for the waiters suggestion which was an error. If you know someone you really don't like send them to this restaurant

What a mistake – I was told that this Park Slope bistro was charming, and had great food. Nothing could be farther from the truth! I stood at the door for maybe five minutes before being acknowledged by the staff. One of whom was sitting at the bar. There were several tables available but they forced my wife and I to sit at a tiny table wedged between two other couples. I had to ask the waitress for the specials. She told us that she didn't know what they were and had to ask the kitchen. It was ten minutes before she got back to us and then simply asked for our order. Thanks to the busboy who filled our water glass which was really the only service we received. The food was so-so. I had a lamb shank that had nice vegetables but was flooded with a sauce that was so salty my tongue was sticking to the roof of my mouth. My wife ordered a hanger steak and she seemed to enjoy her dish. The potato gratin served with the steak was particularly good. When we had finished, the blonde waitress told us in a heavy french accent, that she could not accept my Visa. They only take American Express! maybe it's just me but who takes Amex and not Visa? Cash only is one thing, but only taking Amex is odd. Don't go to this restaurant. There are too many good ones in the neigborhood to spend your money here

Great neighborhood French – Not sure what happened to Cocotte, and tried Belleville once, and have totally boycotted Moutarde (terrible service, tables crammed together, food always cold and tasteless). AOC seems to me to be the only place to go. The vibe is v brooklyn - relaxed but stylsh; the decor is modern/trendy but comfortable. We've been here a bunch of times wtih friends and although the service can sometimes be patchy, the food is excellent, as is the wine list. I have developed cravings for the spinach filo salad, and the burgers are great. Only thing I've had there that wasn't so good was moules frites, which didn't taste fresh. If you can put up with the sometimes snotty woman at the front of the house, it's well worth the visit. In my view, it trumps Al Di La.

pretentious. skip altogether. – overpriced, terrible, the food is bland, and they play the same music over and over again. it's like they have two cds and play them on shuffle. sitting down for brunch, you'd think that you wouldn't hear the same Venga boys song three times...once is enough to make anyone sick. head anywhere else in park slope and you'll be so much more satisfied. staff is rude and pretentious. skip it.

Great for Weekday Dinner – A friend took me to this spot for my Birthday in Dec. 07 and I was very pleased with the service.... I was a bit difficult with the waiter as he didnt quite seem to fit into the ambience of the place but the service he provided was great! The food selection could be improved as the Menu was a bit lacking but the food that I tasted was supereb!
