worst customer service – Horrible customer service. They expect you to cancel and pay 20 Dollars cancellation fee, but they have cancelled my therapist without any apolgy twice in a row so far. I'm cancelling membership...
Massage Envy desk staff is the worst! – I'm reviewing Massage Envy based on their desk staff. I have never seen so much incompetence from administrative staff in my life. I have been witness to many untaken appointments, masseuse switching, and unavailable services after making specific appointments with specific people for specific services. It probably happens 6 times out of 10 that something is not right with the appointment made. It's time Massage Envy got rid of their desk staff and utilized an online booking system where we could book what we actually want.
The massage therapists are great, but I won't be taken advantage of their nice touch as long as they have idiots working the desk.
Massage Envy-Falls of Neuse: Not much to envy but a good massage for the price. – I have received 4 massages from Massage Envy - Falls of Neuse from 4 different therapists. I believe this represents a good sampling for this review. Of note, in my opinion, a review based on 1 massage is pretty tough or overly generous. Lifetime massages = >50.
My experiences at Massage Envy - Falls of Neuse have been similar to my Target shopping experiences. I go to Target because it is near my house, it sells products at a reduced price, and Target staff doesn't appear to hate themselves, their jobs, and me (see Walmart review). Overall, I recommend Massage Envy. An Outline of my specific experiences are as follows:
SECTION 1 - STAFF ATTITUDE/ATMOSPHERE = 4 out of 4 experiences, entered establishment and greeted by very friendly reception area staff. Offered membership product but did not oversell. Good balance. Offered, without prompting, pre-massage water 3 out of 4 trips. Therapist greeting friendly; while walking to massage table, discussed my areas of therapeutic interest. Atmosphere = Target, product oriented.
SECTION 2 - MASSAGE LENGTH/QUALITY = Three out of 4 experiences, massage sessions were stopped short. The average hour long session, should be 50 minutes by industry standard, has been 43 minutes. That is 14% skimmed from my wallet or specifically, $8.40. Three out of 4 sessions, massage started late. Of note, session duration problems seem correlated with back to back appointments and NOT A PRODUCT of willful DECEIT by therapists. Two out of 4 experiences completely or almost completely alleviated the problem. One out of 4 seemed to exacerbate the problem (keep in mind could be nature of my problem versus poor technique).
SUMMARY = As the headline suggests, you will not and should not confuse Massage Envy with a full service spa. The strengths of Massage Envy include price, location, appointment availability, and friendly, eager staff. The weaknesses include truncated session lengths and professional experience of massage therapists.
Simply Put - THE BEST! – I can't imagine saying one bad thing about the numerous massages I have had at Massage Envy (well maybe one, I wish they were longer!). I had never had a massage before going to the Falls location several months ago. My massage therapist was very informative, asked me questions, explained to me before hand what to expect and made me feel very comfortable with the experience. Afterward I was so impressed (and relaxed!), I signed up for a year membership! Not one regret on this one. I would skip a lot of other things, but not my massage!
Massage Heaven – I have been getting massages for years now to try and help with my back problems. When I saw a Massage Envy open by my house I new I had to try it out. I'm surprised at some of these reviews because I had a wonderful and enjoyable experience. They front desk staff was very pleasant and friendly. They greeted me by my first name and came to shake my hand. Once I was in the back my therapist addressed my back problems and asked what I was looking for in my massage that day. She was very interested in helping me feel better. I have had many massages and I can tell you that this was one of the best by far. She was very knowledgable about certain techniques to help with the pain. I felt so much better after the massage that I have been going back for the past 3 months. I have recommended them to all my friends, as I recommend them to all of you. If you had a bad experience- go back and give it another try. I believe you will end up enjoying it as much as I do.
Better than expected, A+ Customer Service, – I went into this spa with low expectations. (I was worried about the services I would get for paying such a cheap price.) I was quite shocked to see that this company is open 7 days a week and had flexible hours. So I got there was greeted with a smile and a handshake. The girl actually brought me my documents. (That I had to fill out.) Before my massage I asked to use the restroom. Instead of telling me where it was she actually walked me there. A+ service in my book.
My therapist was about 5 minutes late but made up for it. Rather than taking time off. This was the first time I had a therapist that was so in tune with me and my needs. I have joined their membership and have been back several times since.
This is an awesome company with an awesome idea... Good Work! and Best of Luck!
Not a good experience for me either! – I too, went in for an introductory $39 massage. My therapist was not very personable, was very inexperienced and left me feeling no better than when I walked in. I told a friend about it and she gave me a card for a $38 introductory massage at another similar studio called White Dahlia Massage and Wellness. I was was like, no thanks, been there, done that! So she's says, she'd pay for the intro deal.
So, I wen't today and was totally impressed! The facility is clean, upscale and very urbane. I felt as if I was in South Beach, Fl. The front desk staff was top notch. My appointment was with Jen. She was awesome. She even used hot-stones as a bonus! No extra charge!
All of you that were disappointed with Massage Envy, but like their concept, you definitely should check out White Dahlia!!

Disappointing and not worth full price. – I was skeptical based on the reviews given but decided to give it a chance anyway. First off, when I checked in they told me my therapist would be someone other than the one I had been given over the phone. That wasn't really an issue since I didn't know any of the therapists there anyway. Next, I found out that the therapist I would be with was visually impaired. (Don't misunderstand... I highly respect her for seeking a career, despite her disability.) Having said that, her technique and inability to follow through with completed strokes, assess the correct body positioning for specific modalities and rely on an alarm to tell her the time, left the experience somewhat less relaxing. When she inquired if there were any problem areas I wanted her to work on and I asked her to concentrate with deep pressure on the (tightness in my muscles under and around my scapula, due to stress), she never fully addressed it. This was extra disappointing When initially scheduling my appointment and I was asked what type of massage I wanted, I said "Deep Tissue". Whether she was an inexperienced therapist (fresh out of school) or simply not a very good one, my experience was average at best. I feel that new clients (given a discounted rate of $39.00 for their first visit), are probably assigned these "newbies", since you're paying $26 less than the standard rate. However, you would think that the company would give a new client a more experienced therapist to encourage returning customers.
Worst Massage In My Life- Pay More For a Good Massage! – I was given a gift card to go for 3 months, well you have to cancel before the 3 months or you will be charged, it has to be canceled by a written letter. After the 1st visit I never went back, was the worst massage in my whole life. I could have had my husband give me a better massage than they did, and he isn't good at giving them. Though I can say now he is better than Massage Envy massage therapist. The woman that gave me the message said they only do full body and nothing else, like it says on the website. I felt like telling her to stop it was so bad, though I did not, I should have! She did not know how to give one the whole table was shaking and it was like I was on a boat in bad conditions, made me sick. I gave her a bad tip.
I would tell people to NEVER go there it was the worst experience in my life. Though you get what you pay for, better to spend more on a good massage. It was a waste of my time.
Staff is very unfriendly and rude, especially the front desk.
