Overpriced and Bad Service! – I went to this restaurant and we were the only people there and the service was terrible. On top of that, the food was way overpriced. I would not recommend this restaurant.
Worst food ever in my list! – Bad bad Bad! never go unless you want to waste your money!!!!
The best authentic Greek food in Austin – This is the best place to get truly authentic Greek food in Austin. I went to Greece about a year and a half ago. When I came back, I was missing Greek food and someone told me about El Greco. I thought I was back in Greece! Wonderful food and nice people.
The worst Greek I've ever had – It has to be pretty bad for me not to like greek... The chicken was especially foul.
Without a doubt, the BEST home cooked authentic Greek food and all around dinning in Austin. – Austin has great food, but without a doubt, El Greco is on the top of the list. Authentic Greek cuisine and atmosphere while the Owner/Chef is preparing your meal. It was nice to actually see the owner/chef preparing your actual meal and with such family tradition. A real family atmosphere and inviting, we are already planing to come back with friends. Of course, I had to try the souvlaki platter and it was terrific, my wife had the vegan eggplant and a meat lover like myself even enjoyed it. We did start off with the Hummus, Tabouli and Tamara (El Greco TRIO) appetizer, all I have to say is "Home Made". Between the appetizer and main course, we were stuffed, the portions are big but we made room for desert, we shared the Baklava and it was just perfect and again, "Home Made". After we arrived, it started to get busy, but the service was still top notch and Chef Jake and his family made sure everyone was satisfied. You can see they treat their staff well, as it got busy, they worked hard and supprisingly flawless. We are so excited to have found this place, can't wait to go back, compliments to Chef Jake. I also recommend trying the Greek beers to keep the entire experience authentic, we had Marathon.
Eat Greek Here – Avoid Miltos and come around the corner to El Greco. The service is better and the food is better for a better price. They also have a nice patio and are really clean.
Below average – I grew up in Greece, and its been a struggle to find good Greek food in the US. I tried El Greco with my family, and was dissapointed. My wife is usually much more forgiving than I, and she also voted not to come again. But that in it self doesn't mean that the place is not worthy for stopping by for lunch, especially if you like the imitation Greek menu many places like this push around where they borrow dishes from eveyrwhere in the middle east. The reason we decided not to stop in again is because the place was too expensive for the quality and the experience. The bill came to almost double what we pay at your typical tex-mex joint.
Best greek food in Central TX – We visited the place after reading some reviews online. I am from Germany and spoild in regards to greek Gyros. Upon ordering at the counter I was a little disapointed to not see the rotissery running. However, the Gyros meat was cooked to order and perfectly spiced. The Saganaki (Fried Feta cheese) was delicious as was the humus. I have returned once since and was impressed again. If you like authentic flavored greek food, stop by El Greco and say no to pre-processes, ground suprise meat....
Really good food...really bad service – I went in on Saturday to grab 2 "quick" to-go gyros. 23 minutes later I FINALLY walked out of there (I checked my clock with the time on the receipt). I was so frustrated with how insanely long they took when the restaurant was not even near full that I found it extremely difficult to enjoy my overpriced gyros. I really like this place and it has great food - we've eaten there about a half a dozen times now - but for the cost, it's definitely not worth the hassle of adding in poor service. I was truly disappointed and most likely that was my last visit. But if you want great greek and don't really care that it takes forever to get your food...El Greco is definitely the place for you.
I would like to let you know that I am here Every Day All Day. If you are having any issue with my restaurant (Food, Staff, Service) Please bring it to my attention. My Name is Jake. Ask for me next time you come in. I will personally see to your needs.
Gyros take about 9 minutes from order to plate. We cook to order. We do not use those prefabricated mystery slabs or cones that you find around town. I personally cut and marinate the meat.
I don?t make up prices. The price is set by the cost of the high quality of meat, and ingredients, used to make our gyros and food. I?ve been told that we have the best Gyros in town. You can also go to our web site and download the buy 1 gyro get 50% off the 2nd gyro coupon.
In response to your closing sentence, if you want great Greek food and care about what you put into your body, than El Greco is definitely the place for you! Eat Fresh, Eat Healthy, Eat Greek! Chef Jake
