Cheap, Rude and Disappointing – We were very disappointed with our stay. Although we knew it would be cheap we expected the employees and care of the place to be much better as it was advertised for soldiers.

They charge double occupancy, so we paid close to $150 a night for Major travelling with a spouse. That is not too much cheaper than some hotels in the area.

We stayed in the "nicest" room. We did not have a fitted sheet. They had cut down a larger sheet and the sheet was not more than an inch wider than the mattress. Everytime we moved the sheet would crumple up leaving the mattress exposed. It was disgusting. The curtains were missing hangers letting them droop down the windows.

The employees were rude. Just an unfriendly bunch. Very short and curt.

There appear to be some frequent guest that stay there that take over the place when they are there. There was a dog running around the parlor. I love dogs but what if there were guests that were allergic; where do they draw the line?

After 9 months in a tent in Afghanistan my husband was offended that this would be offered to soldiers. I was a merchant mariner and I stayed in many Mariner's quarters around the country. They were all 100% nicer than this place. The Mariner's House in Boston in the North End is $65 a night and is beautiful. That is where the bar is set and the Soldiers Sailors and Mariners Club does not try to aspire to achieve that level.

It's cheap and in the heart of NYC! – You get what you pay for. If you're traveling alone you'll likely get a roommate. The beds are tiny and it's an older hotel. They're in the process of remodeling some bathrooms (as of August 2010). The best part is that it's in the heart of NYC and I only paid $50/ night (you pay by rank/pay grade). Also, they allow service members from NATO countries to stay!

I've traveled Europe a bit and it's sort of hostel style with community bathrooms/showers and possible roommates. They serve bagels and coffee in the morning and they'll lock up your bags while you enjoy the city.

I love it and I will be back!

Good place for a soldier to stay – This place serves its purpose admirably. I stayed here multiple times in the lastr decade, and its the best place for a serviceman on a budget to stay.

Editorial Review – Founded in 1919, this small hotel provides accommodations exclusively to members of the United States armed forces, including FDNY, NYPD and EMS workers.
