Although ostensibly a nautical-themed bar, the true concept here is that of a basement rec room, complete with old cushy chairs and aquariums. In any case, it's a desperately needed watering hole in the far west village.

Rum-based tiki drinks, maritime decor and dirt-cheap beers dominate this sizzling boite. – Avast, ye landlubbers craving seafaring festivities, look no farther than this nautical hangout across the street from the Hudson River. The Rusty Knot--which features a fish tank, scuffed wooden booths, a pool table and oodles of oceanic kitsch--comes courtesy of tastemakers from Freemans and the Spotted Pig, so expect a posh crowd, despite its shabby-chic theme. Rum-fueled tiki drinks share menu space with three-buck Busch drafts, wine poured from a box and upscale edibles devised by Momofuku vet Joaquin Baca.

Hits: In a setting Captain Ahab would adore, The Knot offers wildly affordable libations and classy food that belies its bar-kitchen origins.

Misses: If you're opposed to traveling to the edge of Manhattan to sip so-so beer and sugary cocktails while being elbowed aside by inconsiderate hipsters and celebs, then the Rusty Knot may not be the place for you.

Worth the Wait to get in – After all the hype I and a girlfriend decided to go take a look at the Rusty Knot last Saturday.

We got there about 10.30 and there was a small line to get in,

But instead of just being left outside like animals (normal door policy in NYC ) a super helpful and friendly guy kept coming out to tell us why it wouldnt be possible to come in yet and the wait time.

We ended up playing pool most of the night and had a great time

Food looked fantastic although we didnt order, and the prices were average NYC.

Great place...well worth the wait , would go again

Great Music, Busy, Fantastic Drinks. – We arrived just before 11pm last Thursday, on walking in we were greeted warmly by a handsome guy who showed us to the bar and also enquired if we would prefer a seat if one became available.

Yes The Rusty Knot is small, but the music is great (juke box )...the drinks mainly Rum based are excellent and the crowd hip, but not too hip that the atmosphere is dull.People were having a great time, and conversation was rife.

My friend and I were very impressed and would go again, maybe on a less busy evening but definately worth a look.
