Neighborhoods: Ravenswood, Far North Side
It's beautiful, there's plenty of parking and the beer list is full of Irish beers and local favorites. Plus, there aren't a ton of Irish pubs in Ravenswood, so we're happy to have it.
Great Neighborhood Place – I have been a regular for almost two years. It is like a home away from home. The food is good - you can order pub grub or something more healthy. My husband loves the Guinness, says it is the best in Chicago and I like that they have wines from around the world; their Spanish selection is great. Plus it is the cleanest pub I have ever been in.
Good food, charming owner, great server – We went here on a Wednesday, and not only had great chips (french fries) with what tasted like real potates (with skins), but the owner personally let us taste a wine we were interested in, and then came out and asked us to taste another. Our waitress was extremely accommodating. The food was fresh and good. I had a toasted Irish cheese with Irish bacon. The bread, cheese and bacon were excellent, as were the BLTs my companions had. Don't know why people wrote bad reviews for the place. Maybe an off-night. Maybe a cranky customer! We sat outside, but the inside was lovely.
Meanest rudest staff I've ever seen – Mean and very rude staff. The cold food and slow service would have been tolerated... but I draw the line at being treated like a pest when I walk into a place. We were ignored and when we found a table for two with only one chair, I flagged down a server and asked if there was another chair; to which she hastily replied no. There were chairs, another customer offered one they weren't using. We waited 30 mins. when I chased down another server and asked to see the menus she had in her hand... and SHE SAID NO! What kind of place is this!!?? Not sure why this place seems crowded all the time. Such a let down, we were very excited this place opened right next door to us. Now I cringe every time I go by it.
Workmanship went into the careful details of this favorite Ravenswood pub. – In Short
A fetching red, black and gold-lettered entrance does wonders for a bland strip of Ravenswood. The corner entrance gives way to a welcoming room with miles of hardwood, from the floor to the handsome, inlaid bar. Vintage tin ceilings, exposed brick, art and festive wallpaper complete the researched, crafted pub appeal. The local, very casual crowd drinks imports--although domestic bottles are stocked--interrupted only by generous portions of Irish-American pub food, like all-day breakfast and burgers. Plenty of four-tops and highboys afford many hours of eating and drinking.

What Kind of Place Closes Their Kitchen at 8:30? – They should be embarrassed. Went in on a Saturday, waited 45 minutes for a table and we told we could only order appetizers. The manager wouldn't even come out and talk to us. Very lame. I'll never go again.
