I was very disappointed with the training for the staff at this store. The people are friendly and attentive but I believe over confident and not cautious enough.
I lost something money CANNOT buy. I came to the store to activate a phone. I walked out very upset because THEY ERASED ALL THE DATA ON MY MEMORY CARD. I lost valuable photos of times with my family that can never ever be brought back ever again. I know that the farther away it is in the future, I will long for the photos I lost even more. New pictures do not replace them.
One of the employees transferred my memory card to the phone she activated, but did not look very closely when she did a factory reset.
I found out later when I gained enough emotional strength to revisit the process, that the box to check ERASE DATA ON A MEMORY CARD is PART OF FACTORY RESET. the button to check the option to erase the card is right next to the button to reset it on the phone that was activated.
I went back in to the store and another employee stated that the step to erase the memory card is completely separate. HE WAS LYING. There is no possible way to memorize how all models of a phone treat the SD card during a factory reset. He was just covering their backs.
He even mentioned it happened to him, but if that were the case, why did they not then practice steps to avoid taking risk if it is a known risk??
They are playing with other people's valuable treasure that are priceless.
Please be cautious and do not trust the employees (maybe just here, maybe all Sprint stores I do not yet know) for handling your SD Card. They need to have a protocol to safeguard the memory cards and do any factory reset before even putting the card in or at least be extra cautious during the process.
I would not be able to sleep at night without warning someone else out there who also values photos of moments that can never again be repeated.
I hurt so much deep inside because this happened. It's a horrible horrible feeling because it did not have to happen for a simple activation of a phone.
As people, the employees here are really nice, but I am posting this so others can avoid it. The employees will keep their jobs and move on to other jobs in the future, but the photos and recordings I lost --- irreplaceable.
