Lamill is the perfect coffee shop for getting some work done. Clean, modern space with plenty of seating and great coffee. They also have a small food menu for breakfast and lunch if you need a bite. For a sweet treat go for the donut holes!

Unquestionably some of the best coffee in LA. Love the chemex setups, and the iced coffees. Super hip spot for eastsiders and aficionados.

The coffee here is solid, but I really keep coming back for their doughnut holes served with vanilla bean spiked whipped cream.

Weekend Brunch with Friends – One of my favorite places for breakfast with friends. I had Wieser Farms Fingerling Potatoes, Bacon Mushroom / Wild mushrooms, scrambled eggs, and my favorite, Vanilla Latte. Small portions but I was full, so not complaining. Everything was delicious. Parking is in very short demand so be prepared to drive a bit to find a spot. They don't rush you which is great.

Why so RUDE? – 6:50 AM

La mill not open. OK. surprised. (just seems a little LATE for a coffee place, but then, trendy folks arise a litttle later)

I'll wait 'til 7.

7:05 -- door opens I mention that it is 7:05. no response.

I order a lb of whole bean espresso, from the man at the register and mention that it is 7:05.

"well, our register says 7"

I say, lightly, well gee, Intelligentsia opens at 6!

"Well, you go there then!"

ARE YOU JOKING???

lamill, you:

1) OPEN VERY LATE FOR A COFFEE JOINT.

2) OPEN EVEN LATER EVEN THOUGH YOU CAN SEE US OUTSIDE AT 7

3) ARGUE OVER THE TIME with the customer

4) INVITE A CUSTOMER TO GO TO THE COMPETITION.

this is the kind of arrogance that damages business. I must assume that this attitude comes from management.

I have never been treated rudely at intelligentsia or any other coffee place -- ever.

WARNING!!!! HIT & RUN INCIDENT – after having over priced coffee and over priced desserts at lamill i found out that my car which was parked in the rear parking lot of the premises was hit and the person responsible for the damage to my car had left without a note.  i noticed 2 survaillance cameras and told the manager/owner about the incident but she was very INDIFFERENT and could care less about what had happened to one of her customers and simply left on her black cayenne.  i know this incident was out of her control but her lack of concern and lack of sympathy really upset me and my friends.I WILL NO LONGER PATRONIZE LAMILL COFFEE BOUTIQUE AND WILL SHARE THIS INSULTING EXPERIENCE WITH ALL OF MY FRIENDS!!!

Beautiful but expensive – I must say that I recently visited this boutique and really like it. However the prices are really insulting. I end up paying $24 for a Risotto that did not even come with bread or salad. That is really ridiculous, specially considering that it is not a high restaurant but just a cafeteria after all.

I hope that you can be more conscious of our times and adjust your prices to be more sensitive of the economic reality.A place can be very beautiful but if the prices are unrealistic then the beauty becomes superficial. It takes away a lot of points.

Good luck!!!

Not so great coffee... – I think this place is great the ambience is wonderful

but the price for a cup of coffee is so expensive.

I was there yesterday and this girl that assist me is so rude.

the coffee is so bitter but they didn't do anything to make it better.

That would be the last time I would visit that place and would not recommend that place to anyone.

best coffee, best food, and celebs – This place has amazing food with the same purveyors as Michelin starred restaurant, Providence... the crab scramble amazing... the ABLT and the Sophia Panini to die for... and i could eat 10 of the Passionfruit Gelee desserts!

Everything created by hand, (even the Valhrona ganache is homemade), and they are doing creative drinks that no one in the coffee industry is doing.

Every time I go, there are celebrities... Leo di Caprio, Ron Howard, Lindsay Lohan...so bring your out of town guests.

Worth every dollar, and the attention to detail impressive.

Addictive coffee, but VERY EXPENSIVE HABIT TO MAINTAIN – I fell inlove with LAMILL's coffee at first sip. Not just the coffee, but the entire dining experience. The cafe/boutique is beautifully decorated, the staff is friendly and very well trained and their $9 miniature-size sweet potato pie dessert is just enough to tease your palet, (never enough to please it, never mind sharing!), nevertheless delicious. When LAMILL first opened, I made it a point to meet people there, whether for business or personal, and took all my friends and family there with the excuse of trying another of their specialty coffee. Their tiramisu expresso is delicious, but again, EVERYTHING IS TOO PRICEY! Which made me a bit upset because after becoming a regular and noticing how much I was spending on coffee and snacks alone (I wouldn't call ANY of their meals anything else), I realized I could make my money go further by eating across the street at Michelangelo's and save the coffee experience for coffee and nothing else. I haven't been back in 2 months because I fear becoming a regular again and then, getting upset with myself for overspending. Now, if you can enjoy just one coffee experience alone and perhaps, an expensive snack or bite-size dessert for the price of a dinner, I find no better place to splurge than here.

Silver Lake's ultimate boutique coffee house boasts premium tableside brewing and haute cafe vittles. – In Short
The purr of La Marzocco espresso and Clover machines is usually overwhelmed by the buzzing mob of Silver Lake's coffee aficionados at this neighborhood caffeine haunt. French baroque motifs frame the elite space, where nonchalant chicks in Chococat baby tees rub elbows with old-school skate punks, tattooed soccer moms and alt-trepreneurs. Tableside servers brew a deluxe list of limited premium blends with a sliding scale of complexity for varying levels of coffee snobs. There's the ubiquitous plunging French press; the scientific drip brew of Chemex; the hi-tech, vacuum-brewed Japanese siphon; and the insulated, filter-funneled Eva Solo. An upscale cafe menu by Michael Cimarusti (Providence) includes Dungeness crab cocottes, an Asian-style BLT with pork belly, clam cakes with yuzu aioli, crispy-skinned New Zealand char and liquid tiramisu.

Hits: The coffee world hasn't been this rocked since a certain Seattle-based company became a household name in the '90s; dining and drinking here is not just a meal or a drink--it's an experience. Staff are knowledegable, friendly and diligent, even amid peak-time chaos.

Misses: Prices can really add up fast, so it's hard to justify the expenditure for everyday drinking. The menu is wonderful, but also likely unfamiliar to many people--you might not understand which dishes are among the limited breakfast picks.

for coffee lovers – those of you who are into coffee will love this place. they even have table service where coffee can be brewed in front of you.

that being said, i was here for the food. i tried the following:

1. caesar salad - this was fine. the lettuce was crisp and not drenched in dressing. it is really hard to mess up this salad.

2. fried oyster - this was too bread-y.

3. ABLT (asian blt) - instead of regular bacon, they use pork belly. instead of lettuce, they use arugula. it is definitely different, a lot fancier. this new twist on a classic is tasty and good (but not great).

A gem.... – This was my first visit, but will not be my last. This is a world class cafe/restaurant. I can't think of a better place to spend a Saturday afternoon, sipping one of their exquisite coffee drinks and nursing one of the amazing pastries baked on site by their 4 star pastry chef. Great atmosphere, terrific menu. A winner.
