Yummy food, great decor! – My husband and I are no Thai food connoisseurs but this place is quite delicious! The service is great, everyone's super friendly. We often call ahead to get take-out and our order is completed quickly with fresh pad-thai. I especially like the shrimp pad-thai. The fisherman's soup is also delicious. There is some inconsistencies regarding the spiciness that we request for (sometimes "medium" is too mild and sometimes too spicy). I also love their hot tea (the orange one). Their decor is also quite pleasant. Check this place out!
Best Thai Food I've Had in Portland! – Why have I not heard about Iyara Thai before? Have Willamette Week & the Mercury written it up yet because if they haven't, somebody needs to send their representative over there pronto!
I went to Iyara Thai the other night & was blown away! I had the Yum Neau (beef salad) & it was the freshest and tastiest Thai food I have had in Portland (& I live down the street from about 5 different Thai places so I've shopped around!) I also had a glass of their mint soda which is kind of like a mojito with fresh mint but without alcohol- a really refreshing alternative to a cocktail, though they offer plenty of delicious sounding cocktails if you want one.
This place has a very fresh, light, modern feel to it; the owners and wait staff are extremely friendly & take care of you & if you are concerned about not being able to find a place to park because it is on Burnside, don't worry! They have free parking at the Morrison Apartments (just bring your ticket stub & they will validate it).
The exterior of Iyara Thai is not especially impressive, but do not let that prevent you from trying it out. Step inside & you will find that the interior is lovely. I might suggest a few candles on the tables for added warmth to the interior & maybe some different music, but otherwise, I give it high marks.
I will definitely be back. And again. And again. And again...
Best Thai in Town! – I love this place! It is just steps form PGE park and MAX-very convenient. Very nice atmosphere and the services was excellent. We started out with cocktails and I had a chili martini (can't remember the name). It was very unusual and I was aprehensive but glad I tried it. Watch out it is spicy!
We had fresh rolls for starters, those are a must! It was a tough choice for an entree there were so many selections to choose from. I ended up ordering the drunken noodles with beef-AWESOME! Everything at Iyara was so fresh and flavorful I will be going back to this place again and again.
Complex, spicy, and delicious flavors! – Let me preface this review by saying that if I had to choose one and only food to eat the rest of my life, it would most definitely be Thai curry. I have searched high and low for a Portland Thai restaurant I can love as much as Typhoon. And I have found it.
Try the red curry with medium spice for a flavor so deep and complex no two bites will seem the same. The yellow will lift your spirits on a dreary day, and the green will make you feel refreshed and alive. I cannot say enough about the spice level at this restaurant - hot enough to wake you up and warm your skin, but not so hot it hurts (I usually order "medium" spice.)
The fresh rolls are crisp, cool, and refreshing - divine. Try it! You will not be disappointed! You can even have it delivered from Delivered Dish!
Great atmosphere, excellent thai cuisine – I've now been to Iyara Thai several times since they have opened and the food get better every time. I am a huge fan of the fried rice dishes and the drunken noodles. Also, you have a choice of brown rice when ordering curries and stir-fries, which is nice for healthy eating. The atmosphere in Iyara is very sleek and cool. I love Thai food and I am happy to find a local restaurant that will keep me coming back!
Editorial Review – Enjoy authentic Thai cuisine in the Portland area at Iyara Thai.
All around good/classy Thai place – The place has a great and cheap happy hour (large portions, cheap, 3 dollar beeers). The dinners are quite good as well. I've had the Bhuda's Feast, Red Curry, and the hot and sour soup, and another one that I don't remember the name of. They validate parking, which makes it easier to get to!
Delicious, attractively prepared Thai food – I just went here on Sunday night with my boyfriend and I was totally impressed. The decor is really nice, and there was a pink rose on every table. The food was absolutely amazing although I can't remember the names; we had some sort of crab appetizer, and for dinner I had the yellow curry and he had something with peanut sauce. Then for dessert we had the fried bananas and coconut ice cream mentioned in another review. I also had their mint soda. All of it was totally delicious! I wanted to try everything the servers brought out for other tables since it looked so good. I got my curry as medium, and it was really spicy, so if you're a pansy like me definitely get it mild. :) But my water wasn't ever empty even though I drank a ton of it, the staff was really nice, responsive and did a good job. I definitely want to come here again! The parking is a little hard, but it is totally worth it, especially since the prices are really good!
lovely Pad-thai – I've been studying in Corvallis for several years. I heard this Thai restaurant from my friend in Portland. Basically, I love to try every Thai restaurant in nearby cities. So I drove to Portland to try this restaurant as well.
I would say I found the exact "Thai" authentic food here. We tried Pad-Thai cause I personally found that this menu is the best indicator for good Thai restaurant, and it proved that! It is tasty, and importantly, the noodle texture is really nice. Other dishes we tried were garlic black pepper with chicken and Panang Salmon. They also were great. I recommend you try them especially Pad-thai, and you will love it.
Great food and service – I highly recommend this place. It's definitely one of the best Thai restaurants in Portland. If you love spicy food =) Highly recommend - druken-chef noodle. The staff is very friendly and the place is cozy and nicely decorated. It's also reasonably priced.
