I liked it a lot – It's not your traditional mexican food, and don't expect authenticity, but I like the food. Very good, good quality, service. Great place over all.

Fantastic Tex-Mex in the Triangle! – Located in the Triangle, this restaurant exemplifies the meaning of modern. From the paint colors (pink and orange) and stylish booths and d├ęcor to the twists on classic margaritas and a creative menu, Sago offers a consistently interesting and delicious experience. The drinks are not only good but pretty. Their nightly deals make adding a drink to your bill affordable. Every dish is well presented, cooked to perfection and offers a great twist on Mexican-influenced dishes.

Pretty Good Food, crappy drinks – For all the one star reviews out there, you guys are getting a little carried away. This place is definitely not the best in Austin, but definitely worth trying. They have some very unique dishes on the menu that I really wanted to try. I had the Caesar Chavez salad with tinga chicken, and I was very impressed. The Yucca fritters that accompanied the salad in the place of croutons were very very good. I love a good caesar and this place has it. My girlfriend was very happy with her taco salad as well.

The happy hour prices are awesome, dollar beers, cheap appetizers, cheap drinks, unfortunately my margarita was absolutely awful, my girlfriend had a mixed drink that was very weak.

I found the waitstaff to be very friendly, but the place does seam like they are a little disorganized. Bartender was in over his head.

Textbook Perfect Dining Experience – We sat down in the bar area and were immediately greeted with fresh warm chips and a unique salsa that assured us we were still in the great state of Texas without burning our lips off. Our server Travis suggested the steak salad and Mexican martinis which were both excellent. His service was attentive and the prices were very reasonable. We will be back fo sho.

Blackberry Margs! – A quick thought would lead one past the organic blackberry Margaritas --- it does seem a bit much. But try this --- a frozen glaze of blackberry puree lines the glass, while a small amount of puree sits in the bottom for a quick taste. The middle of the drink is filled with a very good, classic lime frozen margarita. It is a beautiful drink to look at, it has a classic taste, with occasional hints of novelty. And for $3 at HH, it can't be beat. The food, especially the gorditas (both vegetarian and pork) and the pork stuff poblano leave no room for complaints.

mmmm – I've been going to Sago for quite sometime now and have developed a serious craving for their Pork Enchiladas... they are delicious. Their specialty margaritas are incredible as well... would recommend the Jalapeno and the mango margs.

The restaurant has been well thought out and carefully planned. love it

Not For Dumpster Divers Like Doc – Think the guy who made the comment right below this one needs to quit spending so much time in dumpsters. It's not only screwed up his taste buds but his head as well. Guess this is what happens when someone who works for Taco Bell, Taco Bueno, ad nauseum, gets mad at the competition. Thing is Sago Modern Mexican is no competition at all.

This is some of the best Mexican food to be found in a town full of great places.

Be warned, however: This is NOT for the dumpster diving crowd like Doc.

Tastes like Taco Bell's dumpster, only not as fresh. – They refused to make a chili relleno without meat, and when I was forced to settle for fish tacos, they arrived dried-out and stale from sitiing under warmng lights, and my guests' enchiladas were also dry and burned on top from a careless microwave operator and the warming lamps. They looked like something that had been abandoned in a food dehydrator during the cold war. The store bought flour tortillas were so stale and dry that they were practically nacho-chips...as authentic as any mexican food to be found in Cincinatti, Ohio. This place wa once good, but now, I doubt that the taco bell chihuahua would even take a dump at this place (although, if you look at the food... maybe). This is a restaurant that has truly lost it's will to live, and should be taken out and shot to put it out of it's, and everybody's misery. truly pathetic. I don't know how the owners can even live with themselves.

Insanely Overrated – We went to Sago the first night it opened and it was pretty horrible but we tried to chalk it up to opening night jitters. When we recently saw the glowing reviews and ratings, we figured we had to try it again. Bad decision. Not only is the service horrendous, the food is not worth even half the price they ask for it. We could not believe there was not more of an improvement and have to assume there is someone on the staff that is in with Citysearch. It's totally perplexing.

The only redeeming feature is the salsa which I have to say was pretty good. But the chips are tasteless, just no personality. The entrees were equally as boring. It's not that it tastes horrible, it's more that it doesn't really have taste. Just blah. The overall experience felt like a complete waste of time.

Overrated – Food is average at best. Waitstaff is friendly. Owners are in way over their heads. Slightest requests are met with rude responses. The place gets busy on a weekend night, and the management comes unglued, owners are running around micromanaging the staff instead of relating to those that pay the bills, their guests. They should enjoy their 15 minutes, they probably won't be around long.
