very good – I wandered into Samsun the other afternoon after work, meaning to just check out prices for future reference, but it was so affordable I went ahead and treated myself! Ladies get 15 minutes for free on their first visit, so I ended up getting 60 minutes of massage for only $40. They were very accomodating for walk-ins, but also take appointments, which may be the option you prefer if you have a favorite therapist (Lucy was great). I was led to a "room" in the back, which was really just a section with a few curtains hanging around it for privacy. Massages are given while you are wearing underwear only, and draped towels will most likely be moved, so this is not a place for modesty. First, I had a 30-minute regular massage (a special Chinese form, not your typical Swedish massage). She used a small amount of oil and got right to work. At Samsun, they call it bodywork, and now I see why: they work hard to get rid of the knots and tension in your body, and if your muscles are tight, it might hurt a bit to loosen them up, but it is well worth it when you walk out! Then I had 30 minutes of foot reflexology which was a real treat. It felt great on my feet and also all over my body as it is a technique to relax the whole body using special techniques. There was soft music in the background that helped you relax and forget about everything else on your mind for awhile. When you leave, they give you a small cup of tea to help get rid of the toxins in your body. You will feel brand new when you walk out!

the best place ever – work has been so stressful lately and my back was killing me...very tired everyday, so I decided that I need a massage... I found this place after reading all the good reviews and visiting their website....I am happy to say that they are very good!!! It's not the most high-end place, but their work is really phenomenal!!! If you're looking for someone to give you a good massage without all the fancy-schmanzy spa-expensive-looking-stuff...this is the place! Totally recommended.. This is my first massage ever!!!! and I'm already addicted!!

I am convinced that Jimmy gives the best massages in the world! What else would possess me to travel a total of 4 hours round trip from Philadelphia just to see him?! Right after I graduated from college last year, I developed a severe case of repetitive strain injury (due to excessive computer use, poor posture and stress i suspect) that sent pain, tingling, numbness, and electric shocks throughout my whole body. I went to numerous doctors who were convinced nothing was wrong with me and gave me no hope for relief. I spent a great deal of money $$$ out of pocket on accupuncture and weak massages that offered little help. Luckily, my sister invited me on a trip to Manhattan and that's when I got more relaxation and pain relief in one day than I had gotten in 10 months! Jimmy knew exactly where all my knots were and worked hard to get rid of them... successfully! He is the best! Before I went to SamSun, I was a bit apprehensive about having a male massage therapist, but he is perfectly professional and his hands are very strong. Thank you SamSun. I can use my computer again!

amazing – Economical, yet AMAZING! I was a little anxious when I first went, but if you can get past the front entrance and dark hallway, the elevator opens up to a nice little place. The receptionists are very welcoming. The place has been accurately described in other reviews with only curtains between the separate massage areas. You can hear noise from other clients and sometimes from staff chatting in the back room. But I dont come here for a spa experience. I come here because they make the permanent knots in my shoulders and upper back go away. You first meet your therapist after you are down to your underwear and under the towel and some can only understand Medium or Hard in reference to the massage pressure. It can be a little painful, sometimes hard to communicate with the therapists, but I always feel better. But dont get frustrated a little patience yields a great reward for an excellent price! If you aren't modest, can be patient and want a terrific massage for your money -this is the no-frills place for you!!!

i love that place! – work in the financial district and decided to give this place a try after walking by one day. You may be hesitant at first-from the outside, it seems cold, unwelcoming, and to be honest, somewhat frightening. However, when you get up to the second floor, the dim candlelight, burning incense, relaxing music, and friendly receptionist will allay all your fears. It's nothing too fancy or frilly. The focus is the massage-the best I've found in New York. Everyone is good (this place seems to mandate that-unlike other places). Jimmy is my favorite, though. If you request it, he can step on you. He does it in a very thoughtful, methodical, and effective way. It always helps to loosen up the very tight muscles in my back. I'm so glad I found this place. It's just what I need after a long, stressful day at work and sitting in front of the computer all day.

Awesome Place! – Best qigong massage in the city! Clean, great ambience for a non-spa place, quiet, and affordable! I'm going to go back again in two weeks!

Chinatown massage level/price in Chelsea locale – I have lived in Manhattan for 13 years and tried lots of fancy and simple spas for massages. This is one of the best massage places. The employees were very polite and very hard working. $80+tip for 1 hour massage was perfect. If you have any requests, ie softer, careful on certain parts of your body just make sure to explain to the booker when you arrive to avoid any miscommunication during your massage. It's clean and neat everywhere and at the end of the day if you want to pay for the massage and not all the ambient music, aromatheraphy, fancy products -this is a gem. The massage area is one large room with dividers so if you are the type that prefers a "womblike" atmosphere I suggest bringing your ipod, etc. They also have a regular visit deal where your 11th 1 hour or more visit is free.

Are you ready for the best massage in NYC? – I've not had a better massage since I came back from China last December. At A-S Chinese Body Work I was treated to the best massages ever! This charming place revitalizes both mind and body. Whenever I feel too overworked or over-exercised, I place myself in the skillful hands of the therapists at A-S Chinese Body Work for completed relief from stress and strains. Some advice for newcomers: massages come in a variety of applications. For therapeutic treatment of sore, bunched or cramped muscles, a strong massage is usually recommended. For relaxation, a softer massage is often preferred. My massages were just the way I like them, very effective and as strong as I requested... The Qi Gong techniques left me relaxed, and invigorated. Muscle pain and stress were completely gone. And the price was right!

Awesome Massage Place – This store is really awesome. Very wonderful ambiance and nice people. I've been there a couple times, normally the guy Feihong who helped me. I used to have back and neck pain because of long time in front of the computer. But I feel so much better after the massage.

the best and cheapest bodywork place I found – Because I am really in to sports and things like that, I usually feel my muscels are really tight, and I sometimes get minor sports injuries. When that happens, I will certainly go to this place and just get a quick massage and I always feel a lot better afterwards... This place is really nice, clean, and it is really cheap so even a reagular student like me can afford it.
