Would not go back. I am not normally an internet "griefer" but the experience I just had made it difficult for me not to say something.

The interior smelled like a combination of seafood market and spice shop with a hint of sewer. Despite that we decided to give it a go. The salsas (6 different given) were excellent, some standards, some unique.

However the food was horrible. The white sauce (baja) sauce in my steak and shrimp burro was mayonnaise and I know this because I asked for more sauce before eating and the waitress informed me that it was mayo. Additionally the burro itself smelled like an octopus with athlete's foot. The shrimp must have been well past it's use date to smell as bad as it did.

My wife and children got taco's which were steak in a tortilla and nothing else. No garnish, no sauce, no salsa, no lettuce, no cheese. None of the things you would expect a restaurant to offer along with the meat on a taco. What we got was what you would find at a street vendor that was disguised as unique by making interesting and uncommon spice and sauce choices. It is hard for me to believe the chef there has any formal training.

None of us ate even half of our meal and the staff was not even savvy enough to notice this and ask us about it. It was a disappointing meal at best and a complete waste of $50. I would be hard pressed to ever want to return to give this place a second shot.

Summary:

Decor=great

Chips+Salsa=good and unique

Service=Average

Burros & Tacos= Horrible

Recommendation= I wouldn't ever go again.

Excellent Food, Under Rated!. I live in the area and I couldn't disagree more with the other review. I think the food is excellent, portions are very generous and their chips and salsa are above average. As far as hiring Americans... are you kidding? I've never seen anyone working there who isn't. Makes me wonder what the motives of the other reviewer are, or if they have even been to this restaurant. Which, by the way, is always clean and a good place to meet with clients for lunch, as I have done on several occasions.
