Biker never had a problem – I ride my Yamaha Seca 750 up there almost every day for a supper burger. Though I don't drink alcohol, these guys keep refilling my diet pepsi free of charge as long as I sit there after eating. I guess I don't look like a "biker" but I've never worn a vest in there either. I suspect this is a "Dress Code" thing designed to prevent fights? I'll wear my plain black leahter vest up there tonight. If the manager is there, I'll politely suggest that he might want to read these reviews and perhaps reconsider the "vest" policy. Otherwise, I can honestlt say that I have never experienced a problem there except for the minor amnnoyance of an occassional drunk, and only then in regards to my Boston Red Socks cap ;)

race discrimination headquarters!!!! – stopped by to get a drink before i retired for the night since the bar was just a couple of blocks from my home. Approached the bar and made immediate eye contact with the bartender showing him my money several times indicating i wanted to purchase a drink. The bartender looked at me several times and just ignored me as i stood there about ten minutes or so. He wiped the bar, picked up empty bottles and glasses all around me, passed me up to joke with other people at the bar . Took other peoples orders that came to the bar after me while looking at me and ignoring me at the same time. Then a white guy came and stood right next to me , we greeted each other,at the same time the bartender looked over me and asked the white guy could he help him. The white guy told to the bartender that i was first . The bartender asked him again in a way to show that he knew i was there first but that didn't matter. So i said "you're not gonna take my order?" He said no and theres the door. Then i asked for a manager or the owner and he said i'm the manager and the owners not here and i don't want you in here anyway so just get out. I left there feeling like a stray dog with a sick feeling in my stomach full of disbelief. If you have been discriminated against at this bar please post it to expose the're hate crimes . This happend friday night/saturday morning 9/05/ 09 about 1:30 am and if you witnessed this or any other hate crime or is a victim of this bar's reckless actions please post it so the world can see who these people really are.

A local tap is a jewel in the crown of comfy dive bars. – South Austin bars can often be more country and western than heavy and metal, which is the tone inside this roomy bar--a tone pre-set by customers who already loved hanging out at the owner's other bars:

Barflys, The Hideout and Mugshots. A jukebox loaded with Ministry, Sabbath and QOTSA, dark orange walls, and a huge back patio entice a crowd who love finer beers (though $2 drafts of Lone Star are available) and rocking out. Some patrons bring cards or dice, others rabidly watch football, some just drink and gaze at the multiple flatscreen TVs. Most nibble on the fine fried fare. In spite of being in a strip mall, this spot is a real neighborhood bar with enough modern touches to please the set more into leather boots than cowboy hats.

NO BIKERS ALLOWED!! – I stopped by to visit a coworker and enjoyed a nice draft beer at a nice price. The juke was also good.

I visited the patio for a smoke and returned to the bar for a second round. At this time I was informed that I could not wear my vest in the bar. I wore nothing vulgar or offensive, merely a garment containing the words "motorcycle club".

I had just commented to my friend how nice the place was and was now "eating" those words, which was good because I never had a chance to see the menu.

Perhaps the manager/bartender is unaware that a high percentage of MC club members are veterans that have fought for his First Amendment rights and all we ask in return is the right to exercise ours.

If you value your freedoms, please spend your cash elsewhere.

Thanks.

My Favorite South Austin Bar – Bender's has got to be the best bar is south Austin. Their prices are reasonable, the atmosphere is perfect, and they have one of the best jukeboxes in town. They have a seperate area for pool, foosball, and video games as well as an outdoor area if you want to sit outside. The food is pretty good too, and I recommend going with the mini-burgers.

awesome bar – I went to the Bender Bar and Grill for the first time last night and I thought it was awesome. It was not too crowded but there was still a good mix of people around. It is right down the road from my house. The bartenders were friendly and our cheese fries were good. I will definitely stop and have a drink there again.

Best in the '04 – Honestly the best bar in the neighborhood. Great service - fantastic food! Basic burger menu but far superior to anything you'd expect from "pub grub". Reasonably priced, friendly laid-back atmosphere. Sometimes you want to go where everybody knows your name.

Laid-back South Austinites hankering for a cocktail with their chicken strips drop into this local, unassuming neighborhood bar and grill. – In Short
Although they offer a full menu, make no mistake--this is a bar, first and foremost. Basic but tasteful décor doesn't compete for attention with the large, prominent full-service counter. Old school South Austin bubbas, area office workers and other workday refugees start to fill up the bar starting mid-week. The full menu offers finger-licking specialties such as sliders, sweet onion rings, stuffed jalapenos, burgers, catfish sandwiches and grilled chicken salads.
