Enjoyable 1st time – We're definitely going back as the food was delish and we would like to try out more of the menu. Quality of food and service is exactly on point with the tab.

Horrible service, blase food – I lived in Vienna for four years. I know a thing or two about great Austro-Hungarian cuisine. It's not at the Danube Bistro. My weinerschnitzel was an overfried piece of leather, not a palatable meal worth $27. I can go to Italianissimo and have a spectacular filet mignon for less than that! The chicken paprikash and mushroom ravioli were uninspired, altho not as bad as the weinershcnitzel. The desserts were outrageously priced and pedestrian. On top of all that, the waitress charged us for the weinerschnitzel that I asked her to take back to the kitchen, then couldn't divide the bill up properly. What a bust for a birthday celebration! And here I was, excited that there was a European restaurant in town. I'll save my pennies and make my own weinerschnitzel at home!

Like being in Vienna, all over again. – Take your girlfriend/wife shopping in Bellevue, then go to the Danube Bistro. Hopefully you can sit outside at the veranda, just like Vienna but inside works in the winter as long as you are upstairs. Last week when I was there I had the Jager Schnitzel (pork schnitzel in mushroom sauce) the mushrooms tasted as if they had been picked the day before even though mushroom season isn't here yet. My wife had Svickova (tenderloin meat sauce) over knedliky. You'll go back again. Don't forget to get a Pivo (beer) or wine. Whether you go out to eat first or second shopping is better for me when I get to go to the Danube Bistro. 93RagTop Park inside if it's raining.

Hungarian famous dishes defloration? – To entering in the restaurant is welcome you to the nice atmosphere. The dining tables are set close to like a professional 5* restaurant. The walls are elegantly dressed with pictures and they are presenting great dinner harmony.

When you reach the menu and when you read the selections each meals are represent something from does countries where the Danube is foot stepping. These counties were Western and Eastern Europeans like German, Austrian, Check or Hungarian and try to represent does countries famous dishes.

All served meals are so looks perfect on the plates. After eaten many course the meals are just not tasty. The meals not give that memories what you have were tasted and where they are come from.

The desserts are looks great as well but same as the meals. The famous Hungarian strudel looks great how served up on the dish but the taste it?s an atrocity.

The meals are defloration for all does countries what countries want to represent.

My opinion and comment; you can eat all these meals and will be mean less until you don?t know what should be the real origin taste.

To finalizing the dinner and when time is coming to pay all of these meals the price is way high for the quality or the quality is to poor for the price.

Intimate Service, Great Food – We agree with a few other reviews out there - this is a great spot for warm yet sophisticated and accesible Eastern European food. It's really comfort food very well done. Nice balance of salts and spices. Not too heavy but definitly warm comfort food. One of the more charming restaurants in downtown Bellevue, Danube bistro and restaurant is one of our new favorites. Interesting wine list as well. We've been there when it's both very busy and when it's not. Great music every time (John Coltrane). Nice servers. Looking forward to sitting outside on their patio in the summer

Weird setup and the menu is not worth the pretty name! – A big and clean space and large portions but I just couldn't place my finger the type of cuisine. It seemed more like a hodge podge of Eastern European dishes doled out in family sizes but they were relatively expensive. Good effort but I guess they are not really restaurateurs but just an entrepreneur looking to make a buck selling something exotic.

Confusing experience – I'm not sure about this restaurant's theme. The menu is a strange mix of Easter European and Italian. Service is poor. Overpriced.

Great little downtown Bellevue Restaurant Find – We've been dining, eating dinner and lunch in Bellevue restaurants for years, and in our opinion this is exactly what Bellevue needs more of - a great little, authentic bistro and cafe which are run by the owners and serve great food in a cool , authentic space and manner. We read the below review - Lubos was in Czech. for about 3 weeks and is back - he took 2 or 3 weeks off. We know he and his wife - great people. Love them. Highlights: sausage, cheese and salami plates, pates (goose liver), dinner menu, lunch, pork roast, chicken Montenegro, etc. Check it out - its great for a date, for an off the beaten path find, etc. And its a choice find for food you wouldn't regularly find elsewhere, perfect for rainy, cold Seattle evenings...

Overpriced mediocre-quality food – Danube Bistro has a great appearance, but no substance. I came here with two friends for lunch. We had a $25 off coupon, so we thought it'd be nice to try something new. Overall, the atmosphere and the service was good, but the food itself was horribly overpriced for the quality of the meal.

The interior is cozy, and is beautifully decorated in attractive colors. The place looked great in the natural light from the windows, and it probably looks very romantic at night.

We ordered fried calamari as a starter, and it looked great?until we actually ate it. It was fried in a light batter that masked the most salty calamari I've ever come across. It was so salty that it tasted like it had been marinated in brine. Our waitress tried a piece and agreed; she took it away and brought us another plate, but the second attempt (if it was even a second plate and not just the first plate returned to us) was no better.

For main entrees, we ordered beef ghoulash, beef stroganoff, and spaghetti bolognese.

The spaghetti seemed to be decent. However, how hard is it to make spaghetti? My friend said that she didn't believe it was anything special, and that she could make something similar herself at home.

The beef stroganoff quite underwhelming. The beef was greasy and not even that tender. The flavoring of the sauce over it was very muddy and it didn't complement or enhance the beef at all. The dish also included bland gnocchi, and typical steamed vegetables. There was nothing remarkable about this dish whatsoever.

Beef ghoulash: Overall, it was disappointing. It's basically high quality stew meat in a small amount of mildly flavored gravy. The dish should've been spicier and cheaper. The dumplings may have been absolutely authentic, but they made me think of slices of unbaked u-bake bread.

We got the bill, which totaled $57 after the coupon. This was quite a pricey meal for food that was so disappointing. I would have been happier eating at McDonald's.
